I have been waiting for my won and paid for item for four months, have exchanged loads of emails and received nothing but excuses so far. Should I escalate via the authorities or is this a normal amount of time to wait?

The way it works is that you have to be very lucky to have the winning bid. You cannot get the item just placing the highest amount. They actually make about 100 times the value of the product. Also you do notice that products are usually won by the same people over and over again.
