Custom charges depend upon you local law. It is charged by the government where goods are received.

It can be quite dear like a few things I ordered where $71.00 with free shipping but it was not that price and to order it and shipped it was going to cost me $130.00 so I always make sure I have just that right amount, or other wise you will be paying double the price, and always use a prepaid credit card.( I got caught once with the price and it cost me more never again). Make sure you just put that amount in so they can not charge you double for sipping I know they can be very sneaky and they do not let you know the full details so just be carefull,)

I have only experienced custom charges once here in Canada and that was when I ordered multiple items. Those added charges have "nothing" to do with the seller or aliexpress. It's called "luck". All goods have to go through customs and if Customs suspect "new expensive" goods arriving then they will open your goods and inspect and charge accordingly.
Every seller through Aliexpress that I have dealt with has taken every caution to protect me the buyer from additional customs charges. For example once I ordered a cell phone and they contacted me to say they would write "repaired phone" on the package to distract officials from any suspicions.
Another seller contacted me to say they would eliminate a shoe box and ship the shoes in bubble wrap.
Hope this helps you!

Usually sellers write on the box the word "gift" to avoid any customs. Others write price much less than you pay to lessen customs. In any case customs depend on the price of the product you bought according to customs low of your country. The may ask you a receipt which the seller can provide you. Unfortunately in some states customs are about 50% of the price of the product.

I live in Canada and have never had to pay charges on 60 Ali purchases. I've never bought anything over 50 dollors and the seller usually labels it as a gift. But my understanding is that they can charge custom on everything. They often don't bother on small purchases
