Why is there not an actual support number to contact when issues that cannot be answered by the website arise? Why does it take 24 to 48 hours to get an answer back?

I found a number on the website to call for emergencies. The representative I spoke with assured me that my complaint would be dealt with within 24 hours. Still waiting to hear from someone 2 months later. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE IS MY ADVICE. Won't reply to negative tweets or reviews either, so, that says a lot about their customer service.

When the AirBnB website works, the AirBnB program is great. You can review the guests before they come and I always check them out on Facebook or Linked In. As far as the telephone number is concerned, you are right it is so frustrating. Google it for your area and it will come up. There are other sites that are hiding their phone numbers. I think we can guess why. When you talk to a telephone rep, they are very helpful but there is virtually no follow up after the fact.

If you set clear house guidelines about the room, which rooms guests can use, and breakfast, you should be okay. Having said that, I serve a lovely breakfast of fresh fruit, yoghurt, bagels and cream cheese, juice, coffee and tea, cereal, every day and one guest complained online after they left that they didn't like the (expensive) coffee. This same guest complained that we didn't change the towels every day. We had other guests who left us their dog to babysit while they went out! When we said we were pet friendly, we didn't mean that friendly! I would also advise that you put anything away that you don't want guests to use (expensive pottery) because believe me some guests will use everything that is left out. Plastic cups are good for the rooms. We do not allow food in the rooms
Because of ants in this area.

AirBnBs pricing is way out of line and their marketing people don't understand costs. They keep giving me a suggested price for the room which is much lower that what I charge. They need to factor in breakfast costs ($5 per person per day); utilities and laundry ($10 a day - it costs approximately $10 a day to aircondition this house in the summer); Federal and local taxes (AirBnB now reports income - reckon on about
20% of your room price for taxes). I know we all say we like having guests from different places, but let's face it, most of us are doing this for the extra money! It needs to be worth all our time and effort buying and preparing breakfast; cleaning and making beds with new sheets etc etc.

One last thing, I have a note on my listing to contact me with any website issues. PayPal transfers in June were a problem and I lost about $900 of guests. It is key that all your information on your AirBnb account match your PayPal information, if not the payment will not go through!

We have had a busy summer with guests. We have enjoyed them all
And the extra money we earn is good for luxuries and vacations.

Good luck with your venture on AirBnB.

Renee

There is a number but it's buried within their website because they don't want you to call them. The number is: 1-855–424–7262. A word to the wise however, customer service will be less than helpful! In my case, Airbnb allowed me and my family to be sent into a dangerous environment and when I called them their response was to tell me I needed to work it out with the host. We arrived to our "accommodations" to find a house with a broken window, glass everywhere along the patio, and easy access into the house in a neighborhood which wasn't so great. The host's attitude? No big deal I'll fix the window later. Airbnb's response "work it out with the host not our problem". The host refused to refund my money even though we had to find accommodations elsewhere and never stayed in her place! I would suggest never using the service, but if you already have call the number I gave you and good luck!
