I book today for next year May'16 for 6 day's stay at Singapore.
Does the amount get debited from my credit card and lie with Airbnb for 1 year

This is an interesting question because I think you have to pay when you book. But the money is usually transfer to the host two days after you check in next year (that's what happens in the U.S.A. So, AirBnB would keep the money for a year. Check the cancellation fees the host has on her website. You can cancel by those requirements. It is impossible to find a telephone number for AirBnB on their website. I googled it and have been using this number: 1-415-800-5959 in the U.S.A. Hope this helps.

Once you book Aitrbn gets your money in full and if you back out you loose their administration fees, that is some 10 to 12%.
