I have purchased several scripts from stivasoft/php jabbers. The product is usually stable however they will not fix something if it is 'broken'. Case in point - I was using the restaurant booking script however it was allowing multiple persons to book the same table for the same time period(s). As you might imagine this is quite frustrating when customers come in saying 'but I booked... Here is my confirmation email'.
When this glitch was brought to their attention the reply was in the neighborhood of... Give us money and we will fix it for you. It makes me wonder how many people they have charged extra to fix the same problem (again and again)?
Because of this I either source some custom script that I can watch being built or I build it myself when I need it.
In short, if you want something done right you have to do it yourself.

I really cannot comment on the issue that you currently report, but from my experience, I guess when you say "something is broken" you probably mean there is a functionality that you need which is missing from our default script. It sometimes happens that clients expect that the software will have a feature that they consider essential and later when they find out it's not there they feel disappointed. I cannot agree with the statement that if there is a bug (a real bug) we charge our clients to fix it! If we do this, I am sure you will agree we would not have tens of thousands of clients and would not be on the market for over 12 years:)
