BEWARE THE NEGATIVE OPTION BILLING AT MATCH!
I received my VISA statement today and surprise, surprise!
I found out the hard way that health clubs and gyms aren't the only ones who practice the sleazy art of negative option billing!
I thought I had signed up with "Match" with an online promotion for only six months.
Silly me I didn't read through the bloody yards of fine print "section B of section 12" to be exact to educate myself on the "AUTOMATIC" renewal. Of course there is no warning in the promotion of the negative option billing scam.
I find this practice deplorable.
Any halfway honorable company would at the very least send me an e-mail advising me that my 6 month membership would soon be at an end and give me the option to personally renew or, if I so choose, to cancel if that is what I wished to do.
I phoned Match and told them that I did not wish to sign on for another six months, in fact I had pretty much stopped using the site after 3 1/2 months (see why below) they basically told me tough luck! Crappy customer relations/service.
I will make sure to put the word out!
PS. Hey, just for the record..."Match"... I am now in a wonderful relationship with a terrific woman who contacted me on "POF"... a FREE dating site, no negative option billing problems there!
