I know there are a lot of bad reviews on here. I haven't had a bad experience yet, but I suppose it depends on the deal you're purchasing. I am very weary about these sites, but I purchased a 10-class Zumba package for $30 through LS, emailed the business, and attended the classes no problem. If I think a deal might be too good to be true, I don't make the purchase. However, for a customer looking for smaller business discounts and a couple of less costly deals, it has worked out well for me.
I just took a leap of faith and purchased a voucher for 1/2 off main floor Russell Brand at the EMU Convocation Center next week. I am being realistic in thinking that this is merely a voucher and I'm not guaranteed the most amazing seats. If worse comes to worst, I wanted to go to the show anyway (and seat prices aren't that bad to begin with) so I won't have a problem trying to make a deal with will call when I get there early. Although it will be quite annoying if I have to weigh my options. I'll be sure to let you all know how that goes! :)_ ________________________________________________
Update for you guys:
Using Livingsocial.com for the Russell Brand event was legit. While, I must say the appearance of the LivingSocial/Groupon/AnnArbor.com "will-call" table could have looked a bit more appealing (it was literally a rented table with a hand-written sign above it), we had no problems getting into the show. We arrived early, since we figured it'd be first-come first-serve to trade in vouchers for seats. The doors to the venue were open even earlier than normal will-call hours so we were able to get in and out in time for dinner before the show. We ended up with pretty decent seats during the show. The women running the LS table were also very nice.
I must say, the production quality of the show left a lot to be desired (but that speaks more about the venue than anything). The show seemed to hit a few road-blocks early on with the opening acts, and I was surprised that EMU's convocation center didn't even fill half of the space for this show (bad advertising/Michigan's economy would be the likely culprits). But Russell Brand was HILARIOUS and this show sealed my faith with LivingSocial.com. If any issues come up, I would think it would have more to due with the vendor than LS itself.
