I attempted to buy a ring from them (engagement setting without the diamond). When I tried to add the ring to my cart, it wouldn't let me. I chatted with one of their reps and he told me that I needed to buy the diamond from them. I wanted to buy a lab grown diamond from a different site since Blue Nile doesn't sell lab grown diamonds. The guy was pushy and tried to convince me to buy a diamond from them. The lab grown I ended up buying was $9,000 versus a natural one on Blue Nile that would have cost me nearly $80,000. Thanks but NO thanks!
The rep said they could sell the ring but I would have to sign paperwork acknowledging that it would just be the ring without the prongs, that the warranty would be void as soon as I added prongs, the ring would come in a "standard size" and would need to be resized, and a several other caveats. The guy said it was pretty "straightforward" yet having to add prongs and get a ring resized is nowhere near "straightforward" when you look into it.
I told him that all those modifications to the ring would be costly, timely, and overall a complete hassle. He copped an attitude and said he didn't care how much it would cost me locally to get the ring modified. Then he got pushy again and started asking for my name, phone number, credit card number, etc. As if I would ever give them my business after catching an attitude with me!
I called several jewelry stores to see how much the cost would be to add the prongs and to get the ring resized. It would have cost me an additional $800 on top of the cost of the rings itself. Plus the turnaround time would have been at least three weeks. Again, thanks but NO thanks!
I ended up getting the diamond and the setting from a different site and had an outstanding experience with them. They were super friendly and have updated me as to the status of the ring regularly.
