Like many here, I was a long time customer, always rated the site 5/5. You would think after 2020, customers like us would be more patient with their COVID understaffing and longer shipping times, but it's not that: they have truly changed! Their new staff is the worst. Spent almost $345 to stock up on food, shampoo & vitamins, package never sent. Because their stupid system for the past 2 years says "not yet shipped" even after it was shipped and received, now they can claim it was shipped and it's just a "glitch in the system". Well, I never received the goods. I used the automated form for a refund and later that day, got the email confirmation that it had been approved.
2 weeks later, I went to use my card and declined. So I checked on the refund and... it never posted! Not even a pending transaction. I called my bank and they told me to contact Vitacost because nothing shows on their end. I was repeatedly told that the refund was already approved and that resubmitting would do nothing. I have now filed a dispute with my bank, which will take 90 days to finalize. Meanwhile, I'm out $345. Never again! It's not "COVID" and it's not being "under staffed". It's the new reps don't care, give you the run around, are rude, hang up on you (happened to me twice) and are free to get away with it. I thought Swanson vitamins was bad because they take 1 week to ship, without contact info and their reps are based in China, but I finally got my stuff. Good stuff too, may I add, stuff that Vitacost doesn't carry.
People here is a tip: you're probably reading this because you got scammed too. Learn your lesson: from now on, NEVER EVER shop ANY online company before READing NEGATIVE REVIEWS FIRST! Why? Because reading positive reviews is a waste of time. Just gauge how many green reviews they have vs red. Then read the red. FIRST. ALWAYS read the RED/BAD reviews first! This will tell you what you're very likely to encounter. Then, gauge if you want to take that risk. Too many "I should have read the bad reviews". Do this always. There's also plenty of China-based companies too, that show you wonderful items at super low prices: the reviews show you that they received duds, so don't fall for pretty pictures, don't fall for green/good reviews written by their staff and always read the 1-stars first. Also: quit typing "wish I could give 0 stars", we already know that 1 star means the worst of the worst, you cannot type a review without giving a star, that's the starring system. So quit wasting text, and type the true facts.
As for me, soon as I get my near $345 back, I am never shopping Vitacost again. The kind and caring ladies that worked there, even 5 years ago, are long gone. It's like the company is run by TV News looters, now. Would you trust those types with your credit card? Same difference! D-a-mned be their email spam with their coupons and their offers! You can no longer trust these rude millennials that have taken over a formerly great company. The past doesn't mean a thing for the present. They ruined it. Even Amazon is much better now, sad to say this. DO NOT TRUST VITACOST WITH YOUR MONEY OR YOUR PERSONAL INFO, YOU WILL LOSE EVERY TIME!
