To me it's been working OK, really like the chat and design. I did report a few fake profiles. Guess they maneged to filter those out now, not seeing any of those Africans or whatnot any longer.

I have really bad experience with this dating website (smartdate.com). 80% of the interest are from east europe or africa. To reply the message you need to become a premium member, when I choose to pay 1 month, they deducted for 3 month. I sent 3 complain emails, not even 1 reply :(. This is the worst dating website ever. It got good looks but horrible support.

DO NOT BECOME MEMBER, and do not fel for nice pictures or messages, most of them are fake :(

This website is acomplete scam. I liked several profiles. They all responded to me at my yahoo address in almost identical verbal style. They even make the same mistakes. They all made refernces to Africa. Stay away from these low lives. Some of them are stealing the profiles names and information from Facebook. It is a scam that is crossing their own domain. Be careful even though the people who run the site and the scam are really very stupid

Wish I had read these reviews first. I was only on the site for about 3 or 4 days last week and so got burned. I agree, I came to the realization that it just be one or two people on there using various profiles to attract women. None of them are actually here.

They want you to stop your search and cancel all of your other dating sites. One of the guys I was dealing with told me he was in Africa on business and actually called me from there (stupid on my part). When I got suspicious, he would call in an effort to keep it going. So have a fraud alert with the big three. No I did not send money but boy did he beg to get it!

STAY AWAY! This is a major scam!

Scam Scam Scam
I contacted who I thought was a 48 year old man. Right away asked me to add him to my yahoo messanger. Then asked me to turn my camara, i guess they wanted to see me but they didn't want me to see them, but something went wrong and what I could see was a black teenager, probably in Africa somewhere.
That site has so many fake profiles and pictures, yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaak!

Thanks to all these wonderful reviews and spot on, I'm sure, been on enough to know now. Just started this Internet dating thing and finding an unreal amount of women stuck in Africa abandoned by boyfriends that stole everything and now need help getting out and are more than willing to be the love of MY life. They do need a down payment, however of between $600 and $1500 dollars, that is to start. I have no idea what it is for the poor guys that start paying. I won't hand over a single cent for "Love" They do have plenty of pictures and I do agree with the form letters and mistakes that come by the droves and wean nearly simultaneously as you turn one away the others follow like lemmings.

Learning the ropes of this shabby business as I go and places like this make it so much easier, thank you so very much.

Grateful in AZ...

I worked here, I left...
CEO is a crook and asked us to mislead users about charges.
When you sign in they give a price per month but you are charged for one full year minimum even if you decide to leave after 5 days and no refunds
Most profiles are fake.
Beware

I agree with all the reviews that have been listed.
I was very suspicious when everyone that sent me a message, was so willing to just give my their e-mail address.

Ladies, whatever you do, do not connect this account with your fb account. I'm so glad i didnt.

I went on thia site about 3- weeks ago, just like I read in a previous review, all the guys want to chat on my yahoo, all live out of my area, very good looking, but they all work over seas
This site is a scam for sure, be aware one of the guys asked me to send his daughter money. Of course I didn't but what's even funnier than that, is the other two guys I was chatting with havent contacted me since I told the jerk off that asked me to send money
Just very curious to me, I think they were all the same person
Ladies just don't be so lonley you'd ever send a guy money, and these guys on here are not who, or what they appear to be

I got an offer to try out SMARTDATE.COM through FACEBOOK but I was smart enough NOT to allow their app access to all my personal data on Facebook. Instead, just typed in their web address. I entered my photo and very basic info & IMMEDIATELY got responses. In fact, before I had typed anything about myself, I got a response back from a guy who thanked me for winking back at him - which I didn't do. He found my profile fascinating. I wrote him back that I didn't remember winking back & that I still didn't have anything in my profile information. I didn't hear back from him again. I just chalked that up to his error.

The thing that made me suspicious is that it seemed like everyone's writing style was identical. They even made the exact same mistakes in English: Namely using the word 'will' instead of 'would'. Conditional speaking is hard to get right, especially in English & it clued me in that they were not native English speakers. Men who listed themselves as Caucasian and living in London were consistently making very basic grammar errors. After reading a few of them, (before I even looked up the site for scams) I started thinking that they all seemed to sound the same. A lot of the men were from "Texas City, TX" which raised a red flag for me. Raise your hand if you've ever heard of it. Me neither. When I noticed that, I began looking at all their posts with speculation and deleting the ones that were obvious scams. After reading this, I'll delete them all and have Outlook send future emails from that site to the Trash bin.

This site is a creditcard fraud scheme. The first time I ever heard if Smartdate is when I saw an illegal charge from them on my creditcard bill! I contacted them through their web form (because they have no phone number or email address listed) and after SEVERAL days they contacted me to tell me that they couldn't locate the charge. When I replied with details, the email was bounced back to me because the address did not exist!?! After contacting then again through their web portal, and after another several day gap, they responded that they did indeed locate the charge to my credit card, but would NOT refund or investigate! What Internet company doesn't take creditcard fraud seriously?! One that exists to scam and steal, that's obvious!

STAY AWAY from Smart Date. It is a total rip-off. YOU CANNOT CANCEL YOUR MEMBERSHIP unless you have an attorney get involved. If you use Paypal, they will not help you resolve the case because the company is in FRANCE! They are not governed by our laws, and they do not have to answer you or any US law because they do not own a business here. READ the terms of service, and you will find all of this information. If you sign up, you will be charged around $70, and then you will receive very little matches- most will not live anywhere near you or they will be total suckers who just got the free membership who you won't want to date anyway. Smart Date does NOT respond to your inquiries unless you threaten legal action, and then they don't refund. They are probably rolling in dough laughing at people in the US who tried to legitimately find love and got RIPPED OFF. Shame.

Smartdate is not always that smart and one way it isn't "smart" has to deal with making deductions from you without your approval or consent. Here is a story from the ripoff report to prove this. Although it has an "Italian" perspective it still brings the point across

Reported By: Frank — Lecco Other Italy

Topic Smartdate Italy Fraudulent credit card use without any authorization. I was debited for something that was cancelled. The incredible thing is that they debited me for a service which I never received

"I was debited by Smartdate (I used the Italian one) for a service that I cancelled correctly 10 days before the expiration date which was 27th of september. I found out a month later that a certain amount my charged on my credit card. I wrote to the client service many times but no reply. The incredible thing is that they charged me for a service which I never received. This webiste is a total bogus. A big percentage of user don't really exist. I told them to cancel all my information, but it's still on the website. They keep our account name to attract other user to fool like us. Smartdate has no address, no phone number to contact. If you write them they never reply. The guy that replied from Smartdate France who is this guy? I encourage current users to close immediately any credit account they have with Smartdate before they debit you again illegally. Where can I send my proof? Can this guy from Smartdate France tell me where I can send a copy of my charge amount and that I never received an premium service after sept 27th, 2011.

I think their client service is in a big mess, because they never reply. It is totally out of control. Have you seen that their job openings are all technical service people? Is there any one left to provide client complaints? What's the use of writing to Smartdate service if they don't reply. I wrote to them al least 50 times! Usera be very aware, because once they debit you they don't refund you! Even it's their mistake!"

Smartdate needs to change their activities to one that actually is smart.
