I recently used RyanAir for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. The booking process was easy, the flights were on time and the crew was friendly and helpful. The planes were ok and the prices were low. But the food that you can order on board was very expensive! I wasn't ready for that!
I was travelling to London Stansted from Malaga with my partner and 9 month son. We checked in which took an age and were left an hour 20 minutes to get to the gate. However, Ryan air shut the doors on us. It took a long time to get through customs and police check the lines were enormous. Ryan air fully knew the lines were incredible long as so many flights were. But they ignored this and wouldn't wait. They blamed the police for slow checking of passports in passport control and told us we had enough time to board. It wasn't just us but 20 other customers flying to London Stansted who missed their flights. Other travellers going to Dublin and Manchester flying with Ryan Air had the same issue missing flights. We were left stranded desperately searching for accommodation with a 9 month crying baby. The customer service was shocking no solution offered and took no responsibility for closing the gate way before the flight was due to take off. Like I said they knew we were coming to the gate and the lines were so long but no consideration of empathy. Also information about boarding of the flight was not displayed on the board it only said go to the gate etc. I am utterly appalled by the service. I will never fly with Ryan air again. The cheap costs are not worth it for the stress they cause. Rude, disrespectful, unkind, unhelpful disgraceful treatment. I hope people can realise how awful and inhumane they are. They just tool no responsibility for the callous act. I am lost for words. Luckily we managed to get on a fight the next day with Easy Jet where everything was quite straightforward. Please I urge people to read this and not ignore.
I booked an extra legroom seat on my return flight from Malaga which was last night at a cost of £28.00, however they changed the plane type and hence the seating configuration, so the seat I actually got was a normal legroom one. As I did not get the extra legroom seat I paid for I requested a refund of the £28.00 through the Ryanair app, as the useless stewardess (that's another story), only to get an automated response telling me about problems checking in, suggesting that I hadn't checked in properly. Not even mention of the refund. They are so useless, I don't know how they can be so appalling. Yes they're cheap, but they make up for it with hidden costs. They're not worth it, shall be spending just a little bit more next time on a much better airline.

Unbelievable but true
2.5 years ago Ryanair sent me a cheque in euros issued by a German Bank to my British address in return for cancelling the flight I was supposed to have taken 3 months before.
The currency exchange fee and the bank commission to cash it in was higher than the amount of the cheque itself.
Nice try Ryanair, if you don't want your customers to get reimbursed just send cheques on a different currency.
I wanted to check in online a night before our flight, but my nationality was not listed in their websites. And when we wanted to check in in person they asked for a fee, and that still was not a problem! They asked for a credit card to check for late check-in fee! We asked them to pay by our debit card or by cash, but they did not accept it! So we missed our flight, and they made us pay a " No show fee" on the application so that they give us another flight in the evening. And the flight we got was about 30 Euro and the "NO show fee we paid was 100 Euro" never gonna fly with them. It's a cheap air line that gonna charge you for almost breathing in the Cabine!
And when I told them in Germany we can pay by debit card or cash, they said we are an Irish airline it has nothing to do with Germany, seriously?! Then why do you have your business here?
The other thing is when I mentioned my nationality was not listed on your website they did not accept that! And they inserted my nationality manually!

This is my tenth flight with Ryanair this year - and eight of the 10 flights had delays - usually between one and two hours, but we had more than three hours too!
There is basically no way anymore that you can convincingly plan longer trips with them, for example a train journey after arrival, because you never know when you arrive. Today, we are loosing another train ticket that we bought ages ago in advance, when we still believed that some delays are exceptions to the rule, rather than the new rule. Even back then, we already calculated with a one and a half hour Ryanair delay, but that is just not good enough for that "never on time airline".
To make things worse, according to EU law, they only have to pay compensation from a three hour delay, i.e. Most delays go without any sanction, meaning a contribution from Ryanair for the additional expenses their customer have to pay. Long live neoliberalism?
Add to that the non-existing Ryanair customer-sevice, which leaves you in the dark about new departure time, gate changes etc, and you have the worst package you can possibly buy.
What can we customers do about it? At first, let us please stop buying drinks, food and other items on flights that come with more than half an hour delay. We should not reward such an airline for what they do to us. And then better check always the prices of competitors: Eurowings, EasyJet, Vuelin, Wizzair, anything that stays within a reasonable price for the package might be worth considering.
I am a university doctor from Sweden. I took a Ryanair flight three days ago from Copenhagen to Vienna without any problem. Today, I took the return flight. I was this time told I must pay a penalty fee for my exactly identical bag. I told them I came three days ago with Ryanair, with the same bag. Ryanair's staff did not believe me. I offered them the ticket as proof. They ignored it and shouted at me to 'pay the fine or you cannot board the plane'. I then removed a large duvet cover from my bag, after which the bag fit into their standard model box. Still, they ignored it, and repeated: pay or be left behind. Upon request, they also refused to give me their names, or the name of their manager. I also watched as Ryanair's staff showed the same disrespectful treatment to many other, visibly upset, passengers.
Know this before choosing Ryanair:
1) They can forcibly take a large amount of money from you at the gate without justification.
2) If you dont pay, they can threaten to not give you the service you have bought and paid for.
3) They are not necessarily interested in a civilized conversation, as was my case.
I have flown Ryanair regularly for over a decade. I must now reconsider my future choices.
They cancelled my flight and didn't refund me. NEVER AGAIN. They offer the worst costumer support. Never helped me with anything, almost lost my mind trying to deal with them. I've lost 300€.
Just don't with Ryanair. Save yourself the frustration. No amount of savings is worth it. And if you must, keep in mind that if you book through a third party (which you may have to do because Ryanair website often won't allow you to input necessary info), you'll have to go through a ridiculous verification process, which seems to only exist to extract a few more cents out of you.
Tip for consumers:
While I haven't yet taken the flight, the customer service so far has been abissmal. Again, so many hoops to jump through for seemingly no reason other than to extract more money.

Will eventually take the flight
Even after booking 'special assistance' we were split up on the plane so that my disabled mother was allocated seating next to complete strangers. My father was 20 rows back! We had to ask people to move. My mum also had to wait on the runway prior to boarding the plane and was asked if she could walk up the steps so that they didn't have to bring the lift. This is despite me being very clear about the 'special assistance' required' when booking the flight.
I complained to customer service after the flight and was brushed off. Basically they said it was my fault for not requesting correct assistance when booking the flight despite email confirmation at the time that I had done this. I have complained again to say this response is simply not good enough and reiterated my particular concerns, namely that:
1.) I booked special assistance online and completed that request as fully as possible - I have the email confirmation - yet this was not acted upon
2.) I confirmed this at the special assistance desk at Stansted when we arrived yet no lift was provided to access the aircraft
3.) Keeping my mother outside waiting on the runway for the lift in the rain was not acceptable!
4.) The separate seating issue was not acceptable and broaches Ryanair's own policy for special assistance
5.) The lack of support, such as a helping hand to take my mother to her seat given all walking aids had been removed, was insensitive and unhelpful
The caused my mum undue stress, had a detrimental effect on her dignity and was very upsetting for us all
I am not hopeful about receiving a satisfactory reply.
Horrible company. Predatory. I would not wish this company on anyone. Their insurance they promote disables you
To use their "change fee" for flights, having to book a last minute flight we were unable to check in due to being in the air and no wifi at the airport. Once arrived 11 minutes late to check in counter, they charged us 110 euros extra after paying for another flight out of pocket. On a side note the flight attendees wouldn't even give me a bandaid for my bleeding finger nail. Disgusting company. I will be going out of my way to tell people how horrible Ryan air is.
A word of warning: NO!
Ryanair is terrible in my experience. Let me explain.
We scheduled a flight from Tangier to Lisbon with a layover and plane change in Paris. Due to a bomb scare in Paris, our flight went to Belgium. From there, we sat on the plane on the air strip for about an hour with no answers as to what would happen next. Then, they made us all get off the plane. No communication, just left there. I had to go to the ticket office to try to book another flight. There were no flights available, so I had to research nearby airports for possible flights.
I found a flight to Lisbon from Brussells. I then had to get bus tickets to take us (there were 5 of us, all family on vacation) and an uber from downtown Brussells to the Brussells airport, buy new tickets on another airline at high prices for same day tickets and got us to Lisbon very late that night.
Ryanair did not help in any of this at all. We were basically left stranded in another country with no way out.
I then filed a complaint with Ryanair about this. They asked for my confirmation number, passenger names and email address, which I provided.
I have now asked several times what they would be willing to do to help. No response to date. They have just ghosted me.
I paid for 2 flights to get me and my family to Lisbon. I got one flight to Belgium. Worst experience with an airline ever!
RyanAir has exceeded my expectations in tickets reservation and booking. The system itself is easy to use and really reasonable prices.
SUPREMELY UNETHICAL AIRLINE
Ryan Air may bottom rates for fares, but they recover their profit margin through extortion and fraud during check in at the airport. I've only flown Ryan Air 3-4 times, because I'm acutely aware of their lawlessness and lack of ethics and consideration for travel weary customers. But each time I observe passangers crying or frustrated beyond a normal threshold for travel. OR I'm the victim. And 100% of the time, the ground crew is wreckless with passanger care. When passsangers are crying...they mock then and laugh at them...consistently! Seriously it must be in the training because I've observed this at 3 airports on 2 continents.
Our flirst experience with Ryan Air involved over $300 in penalties for 'failing to check in' advance for $50 fare flights. They disregarded that their website was DOWN - preventing us from 'checking in'. Ultimately we paid $400 for two $50 flights. And This is precisely how RyanAir Works,
On Jan 12 the Marrakesh Ryan Air check in attendant insisted that one of our carry on bags did not fit in the luggage measuring device. I demonstrated to him FOUR times that it fit perfectly...just like it did 6 days earlier oh a Ryan Air flight TO Marrakesh. Each time he sent us to the end of the line. Ultimately he extorted $75 for one of the bags (that was already paid for and that fit their device)
We woke up at 1:50 for this 5:45am flight in anticipation of Ryan Air harassment and extortion. And I left many clothes, toys, travel artifacts, art and supplies at the Riad to make sure our baggage was Ryan Air proof - yet STILL spent hours going through the check in line, being directed to random, unsigned payment stations and contending with unbearable harrassment and fraud. In the end, we had to RACE to the gate and almost missed our flight. I fell quite ill as a direct result of Ryan Air abuse. No doubt they were laughing at me too.
In my 54 years, I've encountered all kinds of unethical businesses and frustrating travel experiences with airlines and car rentals...But NONE come cloase to Ryan Air.
Consumer Affairs gives Ryan Air 1 star out of 5 by 220 reviewers...because Ryan Air is supremely consistent with it's fraud, extortion and traveler abuse
Onboard is an entirely new experience altogether. OUt of 220 reviewrs, not even ONE gave Ryan a second star.
If you''ve ever taken a greyhound bus in the US...you can expect a similar experience up in the air with Ryan Air...it's mayhem on board. Passengers do not sit in their assigned seat and boarding hte plane takes twice a long. They will charge you for everything but air...water is not free. No passangers have beeen observed masking...while many cough into the open air without covering their mouth, and the passanger behind me repeatedly wiped nose with their hand. Passangers wander all over the plane during most of the flights. Ryan air involves both a financial and health risk (and mental health too!) I definitely got sick on their flight...and it ruined the remainder of my trip.
In Dublin we laughed to encounter a band performing with a sign stating they are forced to busk because they bought luggage on Ryan Air.
FLYER BE WARE...I cannot afford to Fly Ryan Air - physcally, mentally or financially. Check their reviews thoroughly before committing to one of their alleged 'cheap fares'.
Tip for consumers:
Buyer Beware...ryan Air lacks ethics, customer care and is reckless with passangers.

flight...it was miserable and I got sick
I have never seen such a disgusting airline in my life. They took 55 pounds from me when I had no fault. I call their customer service and they hang up on my face.
I didn't try to make any changes on my ticket, whoever calls me, they say you made the change.ryanair i will complain not for the money i didn't make any changes they made me a liar by dedek
And i will write you on all social media
On Oct 18th Ryanair contacted me to tell my flight to Tel Aviv on Oct 21th was cancelled. They said they'd credit the amount I paid in my wallet but they didn't.
Already sent 3 emails with no awnser. Support SUKKKS. I want my money back!
I have a flight from Berlin to TLV on October 21th. As the country is AT WAR, I asked to cancel my flight with full refund. They said that the flight it's confirmed and it's non refundable. It's regrettable that the airline wants to make money even with this situation. Would Ryanair pay me a fine with they cancel the flight? I bet not. Shame on you Ryanair
My daughter had an autistic meltdown on flight and the crew very quickly supported us to move and were very kind thank you so much...a very tired Mom
Please do not buy tickets from this airline. I have to paid between 55 to 100 Euros in each of my flights last summer, apparently because I did not submit my ID online. This ID online is Ryan air scam, they sent you an email with instructions for you to check your ID online but the link is faulty and never work, then they do not allow you to check in online so you must do it at the airport, when you get there they charge you an unjustified fee between 55-100 Euros each counter in each airport set up their own fees. When you complaint they tell you that is the airport that is charging that fee, which is completely false. I has been traveling around the world for over 20 years, with several airlines and no one ever have charged me airport fees. Ryan air make up fees at the airport that no one else does.
I recommend VOLOTEA is a great new low cost airline in Europe, seems to be hones, also AEGEAN was good too.
Try to avoid this airline at any cost
Rude unprofessional staff
The lady on the boarding gate selected me from entire row of non priority passengers to check the size of hand luggage claiming it is not fitting the box for small hand bag. When I told the lady that the other passengers are having the same size and they were not checked. She stated that she knows how to do her job.
When we tried to take her name to send a complaint regarding her discrimination, she turned mad and cancelled our flight.
I booked other flight for my family back to Vienna and stayed in Lisbon airport for 12 hours.
By the way, we carried the same hand luggage from Vienna to Lisbon with no problem. When I stated this to the lady, her answer" I do not mind, we are different staff"
An evident discrimination and unprofessional biased selection of one family from 300 passengers carrying the same hand-luggage.
You can call this discrimination because of our Arabic background
I will never stop warning people from those pirates.
Tip for consumers:
Do not ever fly with Ryanair at any cost
After reading all the negative posts about Ryanair I was a bit concerned about flying with this airline. They were the only airline that had decent prices to the destination that I wished to travel to. My booking and flying experience with them was all positive. The web site booking was easy to use. The check-in experience was good, the flight was on time, the aircraft clean, the crew semi friendly. I think the key to flying with Ryanair is that one must read and follow all the instructions carefully when booking, read about their carry-on policy, baggage hold policy, cancellation policy, checking in policy etc. If one takes the time to read all of the information and follows all the directions which are given in plan and simple language there should be no problems. In fact I did have a problem, after clearing customs and going through security, at some point I lost my boarding pass, and after reading all the horror stories about the charge for a new one I became a bit anxious. To have the boarding pass reissued was going to be expensive. At the gate I approached the staff and informed them of what happened. The reply from them was simple, "no problem we will reprint your boarding pass and you will be able to continue with boarding" they were friendly and most helpful. I have no doubt that I will be flying with Ryanair again should the need arise.
As a US resident, I had the bad experience of being stuck in isolation in Italy because of covid. As a consequence, I was unable to make it for my Ryanair flights within Italy. I tried to reach out to the company several time to inform them about my situation. After several attempts using some kind of useless robot on their website and talking to representatives on the phone, they don't seem to have or want to put in place any customer-friendly measures in this already stressful situation. I felt totally helpless and I am socked by how they dealt with the situation. I would recommend you use low-cost airlines other than Ryanair for your next trips.
99% they will stuck you in the airport for 3 hours delay,
Not worth ever deal with them,
Shame! BS company f**k you
I'd recommend using this company only in case of a very tight budget. Once the staff nearly denied the boarding because my carryon was "beyond the established size limits" as they said without even measuring it. Another unfortunate occurrence was on board when I was coming home from vacation with an emptied purse. I asked for a bottle of water or at least a glass, but they refused to accept coins, even though I didn't have any paper money. I had to bear a terrible thirst for the long 5 hours. I understand this is their policy, but there could always be an exception. It was an emergency for me. They would let a passenger die but would not break their rules. Anyways, I put 3 stars for I suppose it's a matter of a human factor. My other flights with RyanAir were not that painful.
There is no customer service at all in this company. When by system error I bought a ticket to my invalid email and could not see the reservation number.I called UK and Finland twice and waited a long time no one answered.Emailed three times.Did not get any response
I want Ryanair to know about my fantastic experience on flight FR7847 on March 27. A young, skilled, professional team of flight attendants wonderfully managed by Chief Cabin Crew Daniele whose kindness and brightness made this flight time extremely pleasant.
