Kongregate

I joined Kongregate in 2008 and was happy with it for many years. The site featured thousands of games and with the badges and other incentives, it encouraged people to stay active and try games they might not have played otherwise. I also had good experiences with purchases - I played Dawn of the Dragons with some payments for several years until the game folded. However, this all changed in 2020 when most important features of the site, including many chats and the majority of message boards were shut down. Features were discontinued with little or no warning and it got worse in January 2021 when the end of Flash hit. Unlike competing sites, Kongregate could not come up with a viable Flash alternative and Flash games had to be removed from the Badge of the Day feature (almost the last thing that kept many people interested), leaving only a small number of games in rotation for that feature with entire genres unrepresented. It's effectively a dead site and while I liked the community far more than those of Armor or Newgrounds, the sad reality is that this community is not eradicated. This is a prime example of how to run a site into the ground and I'd be surprised if it stays around.

I sent in a ticket its been 5 days and still no reply from them i dont think that they even care about the people who play their games all they want is the money they are as bad as ea games if not worse at least ea pretends to care and i can almost bet they wont even respond to this review

Kong is one of the most incompetent companies to ever take over a game. I see now why players say this is where games go to die. They have no insight as to what players want and the execs are so out of touch from the game, they only care about the profits. Surprise surprise. I've played this game called Bit Heroes for over 5yrs and I love this game. Kong is the sole reason why I want to rage quit now. They will scam you, cheat you, lie to you, rugpull on you, and devalue your money every step of the way. I'd rather just watch my money go up in flames than to give it to Kong where my favorite game is going up in flames. Kong, when will you ever do better? I seriously doubt that day will ever come and the day I rage quit will come sooner. Way to piss off your players and kill the game and your profits. Last time I posted a warning about them, the game got rolled back, first time in 7yrs! Oh btw, that rollback that screwed over thousands of players, was today. Happy St. Rollback's Day!

Hello all, I have done 100s of offerwall challenges for kongregate, there is power in numbers so I have recieved over a 1000$ in gems on the Animation Throwdown card game. There will always be a low risk you don't get your reward and the best way to ensure you get a reward is to have a receipt from google play showing you bought credits for the challenge you completed, then you have to deal with the support of the said game challenge, they have the power to send certificate of completion. Dealing with knongregate can get you the points but they will not let them go easily, it has taken some people over 3 request to get payment(power in numbers).

With that being said, I love the offerwall because it saves me alot $$$ on gems and I get to have fun playing new games. There will be challenges you don't get rewarded for once in a while though.

Kongregate killed surviv.io and is sending DMCA to anyone who tries to remake the game because they are greedy and terrible at what they do. Not sure what was going on in their mind when they thought they could recreate a worse version of the game.

I posted a comment about a game mechanic that I could not get to work properly and got banned permanently. No warning and I had no issues up to that point. I would recommend using well established gaming platforms.

One of the biggest problems with the site is that it is full of inappropriate content within the chat rooms and forums. It is not merely "salty" language, but an extremely high amount of sexual vulgarity and verbal pornography. These conversations are dominated by young males and include casual treatment of violent sexual behavior with rampant sexual propositioning and mistreatment of women. The reporting features do not work or are completely ignored and the "moderators" are frequently active participants in the behavior or turn a blind eye to it, even when asked to do something about it. I am a parent and I played the site for over a year before I finally got fed up with these occurrences and the complete lack of concern that Kongregate has regarding these problems.

I have been playing Bit Heroes (owned by Kongregate since 2019) for nearly 2 years now. Through my time playing this game, I've learned that the Bit Heroes community is incredibly passionate and can endure through even the most difficult situations that Kongregate puts them in. However, there comes a time when enough is enough, and the community has to be heard.

Since their entrance, Kongregate and their respective Product Managers have handled Bit Heroes carelessly, and over the past year the game has slowly evolved into a train wreck (to say the least). The Product Managers have grown complacent and downright ignorant of the current state of their game and its future. All that has been holding this game together are the community managers and the tight-knit community (including most moderators, player advocates, etc.).

Customer support takes multiple days (sometimes weeks) to respond to a single ticket. In some cases, players have to send multiple support tickets for the same issue because the communication between customer support and the Bit Heroes team is horrendous.

Last year, despite vast community pushback, the product managers decided to integrate Web 3 technology into Bit Heroes. The community knew from the beginning that this was bad news and that the product managers were making a mistake. Since then, the Product Managers and Bit Heroes' development team have shown more interest in non-fungible tokens than they ever showed for their own loyal community. Not only is Kongregate (and the product managers for Bit Heroes) inept, they are also blatantly greedy.

Just recently, the community experienced by far the worst situation this game has seen so far. Due to a very simple currency conversion miscalculation, there was a server-wide rollback. More than a day's worth of progress was lost. Everything the players had accomplished in the 36-hour period was completely gone because of a simple screw-up. Purchases were lost, in-game items were lost, event rewards were lost, gacha-based prizes were lost, and even player progression was lost. Players affected by the situation had to reach out to customer support, wait for weeks (yes, weeks), and in some cases, the things listed earlier were gone forever. The team in charge (Developers, Product Managers, etc.) has even refused to return items that were outright stolen from players who had justly earned them in the first place. The situation sparked a community outrage that has been burning even up to the time of this review, and for very good reason. This is a perfect example of how Kongregate and the people in charge of Bit Heroes treat their player base. The very same players who have faithfully played their game for numerous years are treated like trash.

Kongregate and the Product Managers running Bit Heroes have a basic to no understanding of their game. They can't sympathize with their player base on a simple level. The whole company reeks of greed, and yet they are the most anti-consumer game company I have ever seen.

No person should be subjected to this kind of awful experience.

Once surviv.io was my favorite game only to be ruined by the acquisition of Kongregate on the game and now it is infested with hackers and yet the Devs don't seem to care. They have ruined and do not seem to care about the lore and a few features that Justin and Nick were going to add was doomed to be never added

Me: Okay. That doesn't give me any information... If there was a purchase issue, why cannot I not rectify said issue? I'm unaware of any purchasing issues, and was never notified. I am getting a PC on Friday and wanted to play games as I haven't had a pc since 2016. How would someone get banned for "purchasing issues" in the first place? Suspend the account and notify the user? Is this legitimate or a joke that took me 3 years to find? I dont mean to be rude, but I'm seriously at a loss for words.

Them: Here's a bit of history for you:
This account was noted as having been tied to a credit card or PayPal purchase that may have been at risk. We reached out 3 times via email over the course of several weeks, banning the account temporarily twice in the process to attempt to force contact.
To protect your financial security, we banned the account and refunded any recent purchases at that time.

Me: I have never been told why... What exactly happened? I highly doubt that Kongregate cannot unban accounts they own... And I've literally never been told what happened... I've spent money on your website and never been told why I was banned outside of "billing issue"... What does that even mean?

On top of this, I never received any correspondence about having card issues. I wouldn't have thought to check them anyway, as there was literally no problems with my card. I made my purchases and moved on. The only reason they could have card issues is if they were trying to charge me after said purchases, which wouldnt make any sense. I have since went through my emails from them, and have nothing saying that at all. I do however have emails from them after my account was banned advertising video games. This doesnt make sense to me, and unfortunately, with such terrible customer service, I have no intention of spending money on their site again. Stay away, a "billing issue" resulted in all my progress being removed, and I did nothing wrong.

They play you like a fool. Impossible to progress in their games (Fox's Animation Throwdown) without spending hundereds or even thousands (like I did) in the hopes of maybe, maybe. Levelling up a character you like or being able to craft a card you want. They claim the cards dealt are random drops. I call BS. The AI in the game can decimate even the most well constructed and planned deck you build in three turns.
They say they care about the people who spend money for their virtual purchases- but all evidence; (And I have screen shots) point to the opposite. They care as long as your spend, they make $, and that no one catches on.

Kong has the worst customer service I've experienced in a long, long time. Right now I am so furious with them I could scream! They banned my account after claiming they emailed me five times about an issue. This is an outright lie, they only sent me ONE email and I responded after 24 hours. After following their instructions to clear up the issue, which turns out also to be untrue, they are ignoring any follow up emails and continuing to ban my account. I've also tried calling and of course, they will not return my phone calls either. How do they keep getting away with this dreadful customer service, rather customer LACK of service? WHY do they treat paying customers so poorly? I just don't understand it. I spend a lot of money on their website and I've done nothing wrong, yet I'm getting this disgusting treatment from them. I have become so angry and frustrated at this point I'm shaking.

I bought something through a third party ad system in game which was never delivered. Kongregate claimed I never completed it, when I did, and refused to give it to me. That is there. Kongregate is actual thieves. Do Not give them any money, they cannot be trusted.

I bought some of the virtual 'Kreds' that are basicly a currency inside of the kongrgate games, i have so for years.

They banned my account as my payments 'suspicious' and refunded the one payment that seemed 'suspicious' and left me without an account.

But the problem is, i have been a member for over 7 years, and spent over $1000 on kreds, on the online multiplayer games on kongregate. Yet they only refunded one measly $20 payment.

I can no longer use the items i paid for, i've pretty much been scammed.
I'm not sure if theres anything legally i can do, most likely not. Which they probably know, because to add salt in the wound, they do not even reply to my emails.

Please look somewhere else for your online gaming needs, kongregate is immoral, could close your account for no reason without a refund for your kreds and the support is just terrible.

The picture shows the only email that i've recieved from them regarding the issue. I did not even ask for my account to be reopened, i just mentioned that there are thosands of dollars of payments that i haven't been refunded for!

I'm not one for online gaming. Most simply don't hold my attention. Submarine 6: the edge" is different. It's a strategy game that tests memory, eye for details, and in my case became addictive.

There are many games you'll find available. I just wanted to point out Sub6 and the web site for FLASH gaming online.

I play their game Adventure Capitalist and paid $3 for gold, they received my money, and didn't give me the gold I paid for. So $#*!ing annoyed at Kongregate, and after reading the reviews, I doubt they'll fix this $#*!.

To the person who said that the moderation/administration should be boycotted, I agree. The mods do whatever they want here. I've reported corrupt mods a lot in the past but NOTHING gets done because the administration will always take their word over yours. Since that's the case, why even have a report function? If you're just going to take every 6+ paragraph long complaint with a grain of salt why do they still have other mods encouraging users to report things like this? I got my main account banned for no reason at all. Apparently there has been a slew of spammers hitting the room I usually hung out in, and the moderator of that room assumed it was me. When I logged onto my alt account (made in 2011) I was insta-banned on that one as well. I didn't bother coming back a third time, this site is obviously so broken that it would still implement a group of savage and juvenile individuals whom abuse their power at every turn. Seriously, I rather regular in a room full of mindless trolls than put up with mods and admins too lazy and corrupt to listen to reason or facts. I wish someone would do something about this. You can't talk to the kongregate admins, they're just as bad. $#*! that site.

Games are fun but malicious. It is very easy to accidentally spend money and developers rarely if ever respond.

Accounts and information is not secure on Kongregate. Beware - don't spend a dime.

They refunded only half of one purchess and sent a email telling me they did a full refund

Admins and Mods act like children. It needs to be boycotted or to be gutted from the top down. Horrible business practices.

If there is a bug in game do not expect any response to issues and god forbid you have an issue with billing... you will lose your bank acct in an hour or less.
