The Japan Times is an English language newspaper published in Japan. It is NOT affiliated with a Japanese media organization. It's been around since 1897. I highly recommend this website.

T N. shortest review you've ever written.
those poor people over there...
K D. Are you suggesting that I tend to the loquacious...? (!)
The news from Japan is grim, but I am still astonished at the casualty figures being so low. I was in Thailand in 2004 /2005 and saw the devastation of the tsunami in Phuket / Khao Lak - 5,000 dead and they got off very lightly compared to Indonesia and Sri Lanka.
Thank God for Japan's preparation and infrastructure, but I still fear that the toll might rise dramatically over the next couple of days. I hope I am wrong.
K D. Just watching live - big explosion at nuclear power plant - not good news.
T N. no, no, not at all, keyth. actually i read this review after reading your other one and understood - but couldn't erase my comment. i then understood the short review to be akin to your holding your breath, hoping for better news.
K D. Stunned and horrified at the damage - summed up by these satellite before and after pix of main towns hit. (Use the slider to compare.) It is difficult to see how anyone could survive if they were in the towns when the tsunami hit.
