I have 1 credit card with them as well as 1 checking account and 2 savings accounts. I pay my credit card in full each month. Have gotten 2 credit line increases, by my request. Take advantage of their 5% categories each quarter. And looking forward to earning my cash back match soon, which with the standard cash back match will be just over $600! I use this checking account to only pay my landlord. I am able to transfer funds from my primary bank into this account seamlessly. It does take a few days between my bank and discover bank for the transfer. My landlord gets their check on time without fail. I don't take advantage of the cash back on this account. I use my credit cards as debit cards so that no one, besides my landlord has this account information. My 1 savings account, is being used to save for my down payment to a future home purchase. Taking advantage of the, now, 2% interest rate. In the 6 months of this accounts life, the APR started off at 1.6% and is currently at 2.0% earning a massive $28, to date. My primary bank, is currently at 0.01% with a similar balance and has only earned about $0.20 in the same amount of time. My other savings account is used to hold funds for my mother who comes to my home and gets my son on the school bus. She refuses payment. So, I drop her "payment" into this account. If she's low on funds and needs help with gas for her car, I simply move the funds from her account into my home savings. It all works out. This account, with much much much less than my primary bank is actually outperforming my primary and has already earned $0.12 interest in its 2 months of existence. I really see the value of Discovers Services, looking at other reviews, it makes me thankful, that I am reaping the rewards that are offered.

Reported a stolen card with 2000 in unauthorized charges, they applied a credit then took it back when I refused to contact police myself. This was after 4 call center agents mocked me and hung up without making any notes in the account. Only when I asked for a supervisor did they take any actions. Don't trust them.

Called in to ask about my card, got no help and when I tried to find solutions person on phone tried to make my problem seem like its little. There's no way I've created an account and can't access my funds. Everyone has a virtual card, maybe you should do the same. Hire better people for customer service. As soon as my card comes in canceling this account.

This is the most rapacious credit card company in the core industry group. I have been a customer in good standing for years and yet my interest rate continues to go up – at 28% currently. I called to complain and was referred to a representative who deals with "hardship" issues. Hardship issues!? And was given the option to suspend the account (read close the account) and make payment at 16% for a 1 year period. At the end of which I would have to re-apply. Re-apply? Worst than loan sharks and Tony from around the corner.

Recently had my checking account hacked so had to open new account and set up new payment methods.
Discover decided to cancel autopay without notifying me. Then reported me to all 4 credit agencies for missed payments totaling around $70. The whole time I thought that I was still set up for autopay. My credit score dropped over 100 points. Terrible business no responsibility to its customers. Completely fraudulent practices. Definitely don't use Discover.

In the world of finance, mergers and acquisitions often stir up a whirlwind of speculation and concern, especially when it involves major players in the industry. The recent buzz surrounding Capital One Bank's acquisition of Discover Financial Services has sparked a wave of apprehension among consumers and employees alike. This move has raised valid concerns about the potential negative impact on the marketplace, lending choices, fees, and the cherished 100% United States-based call center model that Discover has come to be known for.

One of the primary concerns stemming from this acquisition is the potential reduction in competition in the marketplace. With fewer players in the financial services sector, consumers may find themselves facing limited options, leading to a lack of competitive pricing and reduced innovation. The absence of healthy competition could result in a less dynamic marketplace, ultimately leaving consumers with fewer choices and less leverage to negotiate favorable terms.

Moreover, the acquisition could lead to a reduction in lending choices for consumers. Discover Financial Services has long been known for its diverse range of lending products, offering competitive rates and attractive terms to its customers. The consolidation of these offerings under the umbrella of Capital One Bank may lead to a homogenization of lending options, potentially limiting the variety and flexibility that consumers have grown accustomed to.

In addition, the possibility of increased fees looms large on the horizon. The absence of robust competition could embolden the surviving financial giant to impose higher fees and charges on consumers, knowing that the options for consumers to switch to a more favorable provider are limited. This could result in a financial burden for many consumers who have benefited from the competitive fee structures offered by Discover Financial Services.

Beyond the impact on consumers, the acquisition also raises concerns for the employees and customers of Discover. Discover has prided itself on its 100% United States-based call center agents, providing a level of service and support that has garnered the loyalty and appreciation of many customers. The potential integration of these operations into Capital One's existing framework could jeopardize the unique customer service model that Discover has cultivated, leaving both employees and customers feeling uncertain about the future of this cherished feature.

In conclusion, the acquisition of Discover Financial Services by Capital One Bank has ignited apprehension among consumers, employees, and industry observers. The potential ramifications on marketplace competition, lending choices, fees, and the beloved 100% United States-based call center model are significant causes for concern. As this acquisition unfolds, it will be crucial for all stakeholders to closely monitor the developments and advocate for the preservation of consumer choice, competitive pricing, and the unique service offerings that have made Discover Financial Services a standout in the industry.

Because of their fault, I missed several payments resulting the reduce of my credit score. I then cotacted the company, and they enrolled me into a program which will suspend my account without letting me know. So, my account was suspended now. They also leaked my privacy information.
This is terrible company, don't use their service.

Tip for consumers:

I decided to close my account, I was contacted out of the blue by a representative from discover asking for me to fill out all of this document and subit images of my Social security card etc etc. I don't appreciate being treated like a criminal for no apparent reason, why am I being ask to submit all of these documents to verify who I am? I moved to a new apartment and my phone number changed what is suspicious about that? I am an American citizen i was born and raised in the United States of America so why am
I being treated like a non citizen. Just for the record I did not want to close my account but I feel like I was forced because I don't understand what prompted all of this, and when I asked is there a reason they're doing this i was told there was no reason, they just need to do it, and also i was told if I don't have the documents by a certain time my account would closed. I never called discover with any concerns about my account so this is really frustrating to me. Yes I did move to a new apartments but I put in a change of address, that is nothing suspicious. Close my account immediately and send me the bill I will continue to make my payments every month. This is very disappointing and bizarre to me.

Never believe good reviews; they are shills. Only bad reviews matter. Just when I thought AT&T had the worst customer service of all financial institutions, I had a recent encounter with Discover. I've had their credit card for over sixty years, and have never been late. But I also never had a reason to call. This time, though, I was confused about their online statements. They are unreadable. It's hard to tell what is a charge, what is a credit, and what is a running total. I called and spoke to someone in a country I would never visit. She was so stupid she transferred me to a "supervisor", in another exotic country. She was supposed to be a specialist in online banking. I was complaining about the layout of their statements, which is indecipherable. I was almost breathless when I learned that she did not see the same thing I was looking at online. She said she only sees an abbreviated version of my transactions, and that she was "allowed" to see what I see. How then could I complain about the layout of the statement? I asked for the telephone number of the president of Discover. She didn't have it. Nor did she have the phone number of the vice president in charge of Customer Disservice. In fact, she didn't have any phone numbers. I asked to speak to her supervisor. Which one?, she asked. She said she had many supervisors. I said pick one and wake him/her up, you stupid moron (no, I didn't really say that, although it was appropriate). After 30 minutes on hold, I hung up. I'm going to ditch this card and replace it with one from Ally.

I was with Discover card since 2016. Never late payment, not even a high balance or any negativity. Two days ago, I received an email that sounded threatening. They wanted me to let them contact IRS to verify my income, or send them notarized form plus three months of bank statements plus social security card plus driving license or passport. If I didn't do it, they threatened to close my account and report me to all bureaus. This looked to me like scam because I never heard this from a credit card. I called them and it was legit. Anyway, I closed my account instead of wasting my time to prove my self to them when they have all this information since 2016. I didn't want them to ruin my 8 score. Discover is not trustworthy they are not accepted in all countries and they are lying in all their advertisements and offers. Before I close my account, I called them on an offer I received from them, and the terms were terrible, not like in the offer. Be careful when applying for this card because you will be deceived.

I had discover for about 8 years and when I first got them, I loved them! But the longer your with them the more screwed you become. I had to use my discover in 2020 after I lost my job… just to be able to eat. And well they took full advantage of that and charged a ton of interest and then as interest rates rose, obviously so did my interest rate to a staggering 29%. I could barely afford the minimum and the interest literally made the minimum I was paying not even scratch the surface of what I owed. Basically my min was $182, and my interest was $178 each month… so it was going down… by like $4. I tried calling multiple times and saying I'm going through a hardship I need help, I can't pay this. They froze my account and lowered the min to $100 and the interest to $50 a month for 2 months…. Okay thanks that really helped me. Mind you, according to the pay off prediction it would take 30 years to pay off if I paid the minimum, why would 2 months at that rate do anything? You froze my account, just leave it like that for a least 6 months, a year? Like I have never been late ever and I have been a customer of theirs for years but because I got screwed over cause of a global pandemic and I needed to eat, I am now screwed… well I eventually got approved for a loan to consolidate my debt and get a lower interest rate and the bank that approved it took a while to approve it. So by the time the pay off amount came the pay off number that bank had was $30 more than paying off discover. The bank wouldn't let me change it cause it was what was approved so they told me to send it anyway… I then had a credit of $30. I called and asked for that credit back. They said you need to wait until the 25th for the new billing cycle (mind you this is the beginning of that month) well I waited! And guess what? My balance which was -$30 and THEY owed me… they charged me interest! $55 of interest! So now I owe them again! I called them and after being on hold forever while they figured out why this would happen and they were talking to their manager they said the manager will have to look at it and refund me this money and then I need to call back in 48 hours to then request my $30 check! You have my address you have my bank… why do I need to request something that should be automatic…. Well I am not sure if they will move this forward because they're saying that there justified in charging me the interest of $55 because from the 25th of the last month to the beginning of the next… when I paid it all off… I still had a balance so for a week in that billing cycle I had a balance, so that $55 is the back pay from when I still owed… like how crooked can that be! To be fair the people you talk to are super nice and understanding, I truly believe this is the higher ups at discover that don't care about their customers… well besides getting new ones. Thanks for screwing me discover…

Tip for consumers:
I’ve never been late on a bill and I have really great credit and I’ve been with them for half as long as they’ve been a company! Yet I still got screwed over… there customer service is amazing, it’s definitely coming from upper management and from the top, you can tell

I was scammed by a company called monkey feet... Discover refused to refund me... said I don't have proof they did not refund... Like y'all see my account...you know I wasn't. I provided proof of the scam and that I was supposed to receive shoes...
Still said nothing they can do... I closed my account and won't be back! Never in all the years have I had a problem. The customer horrible!

Tip for consumers:
I know the customer isn't always right... But in this case there's plenty of information even just if you do a simple Google... I sent in documents using my stamps.. My printer, paper my ink...and they still denied me. They even acknowledged that I had proof. Basically they're just not wanting to help.

There was a charge made on my discover card that I did not make, so i called and disputed the charge and my card was reported lost/stolen. I got a new card and they gave me a temporary credit of the disputed charge. I thought it was taken care of until I was recharged for the same amount. It was stated as a "temporary credit reversal." I called discover several times and every person I spoke with would apologize and say that I would be issued a refund within a certain amount of business days. Days would pass and I still never got a refund. I still don't understand why my refund hasn't been issued and apparently neither does anyone from discover since they keep telling me I will get the refund and aren't sure why I haven't yet. I do not feel protected at all with discover since someone can steal my card info and I still am expected to pay for the stolen amount.

I only have bank accounts with Discover, not credit cards, by design. They're very, very slow in posting transactions - which is a problem when I may forget about certain transactions & am used to being able to check online.
I signed up for 2 factor authentication, and there's an option to place a checkmark in a box telling the website to recognize my laptop. Customer service has been worthless, telling me I should check the box (it's been checked for over a year) as well as referring me to their FAQs which are worthless. I actually believe they don't bother to review prior messages in the thread, based on ludicrous and angering answers.

The place is running a debt services scam with Summit as well as many other attorneys. They get you into debt if you can't pay it back the offer credit counseling and debt services like Summit. I signed up paid 500 a month for a year. Then found the account was empty that needed my ok for pay outs. Yet they had only paid Discover 168 dollars. I sent notice and canceled the representation. 2 year after attorneys from Summit there showed up at a judgment on my behalf. Then signed the judgment. I tried calling several times directly to Discover but they wouldn't talk to me. All documented. Now 3 years later the week of Christmas they siezed my accounts and over drafted my savings my 30k when I only had 800 in for a 14k debt that I have show constant attempts at paying. I only have social security they took that and plan on taking my deposit coming. It's a scam! Look into this.ive seen people paying 10s of years.on small loads. They charges thousands in attorneys fees on even small loans that could have would have been paid of. All I wanted was to pay this back with my 2000 a month disability check that I use to support a entire 3 person family one.
I hope you all enjoy your Christmas pulling crap like this

I got a discover card 10 years ago when I was 18 and it's been nothing but a leech on my account ever since. For example, I have put 120$ into it over the past 2 months and I have seen 20$ of that reflected in my account. The other 100$ has gone to "fee's and interest".

Worst financial mistake I've made in my life so far. I highly recommend finding a different company.

Have been extremely disappointed with Discover. I have never missed one single payment with them on time over 2 years. I added a big charge on a mechanical repair that was unavoidable. I made payment arrangements with them monthly for a specified amount, and paid more than what we agreed to. They in turn did not keep their agreement. Be wary of Discover they will reel you in and then cheat you

I rented a car in Orlando from Rent a Car for Less. Did not have an issue until 6 weeks later when Rent a Car for Less sent me a pic of a cracked headlight (not the same Car color or model as I had) amd $1350.00 bill. Lots of reviews saying this is their illegal practice. Discover "started an investigation" then charged me the $1350.00 anyway. That will be the Last time their POS card is used.
