As other commenters note, Daily Kos is not a forum for intelligent journalism or comment. It's a groupthink site with dishonest ownership. The owner "Kos" recently wrote a sales pitch fear money pitch claiming without providing proof that Trump was trying to destroy the site and as always, asking for more and more money. There are a few sincere progressives there, but this site harvests data, is all about money, and may well be a covert op to identify true progressives and harm them. F off, Daily Fraud.

I was banned from Daily Kos for complaining re a 3 day restriction for pointing out potential trolls. Won't ever go there again, they are complicit.

I wrote several articles for this website that were actual journalism, not the clickbait 50-word cut and paste articles you mostly see there. My articles got a lot of views and likes but a small group of bizarre people flagged them into oblivion and then they were all removed. I tried to keep visiting the site but the viruses and pop-up ads embedded in it made me stop. Somebody could get rich creating a community blog site with real journalistic standards and the vibe of the Meidas Touch youtube network. But Daily Kos is a sad joke.

They have a multi-tier comment moderation. Users who pay or have more "mojo" have more rights in the comment section. So if more people falsely accuse you of a violation of the "Rules of the Road" you comments get blocked. There is no attempt to contact you about the comments just the having enough people falsely accusing you of a violation and your are block.

They censor comments and articles. They purge en masse people who are truly willing to fight for America and democracy. They are hostile to rational people, atheists and others who don't believe in archaic sky gods. Many of their commenters are pathetic wimps and losers who act like kids in a high school clique. Lots of sock puppets. I also suspect they report people who are "too radical." F off, Daily Kos.

I made the mistake of signing a petition co-sponsored by KOS and have been spammed with multiple daily emails since. I did NOT sign up to their lists, and they were just one of the groups sponsoring the petition. Unsubscribing is a pain, and frankly I consider this to be SPAM and it has made me despise everything about them.

What kind of a publication allows LIBELOUS and DEFAMATORY articles? I guess it's called the DAILY KOS which doesn't seem to be a real newspaper because it publishes articles that are complete lies and written by hacks that don't seem to be journalists. They put up information by people who post on Twitter (yeah, Twitter...) to try to docs people (TRY being the key word). They don't care whether the information is correct or not. They published an article with a bunch of content that looks like a person was stalked for years, then associated a picture of somebody in a mask using an anonymous screen name to a person's real name they found on public records, with absolutely NO PROOF or verification that the name is correct. Then they obtained photos illegally and used them without permission to try to ruin somebody's life. They are in the business of docs'ing, the problem is that they don't care whether the docs'ing information is correct or not. WHAT A DISGRACE THESE PEOPLE ARE.

I find Kos pales in comparison for aggregating political news article published elsewhere along with excerpts to RawStory. The later recently added original articles. The pluses are that Kos allows anybody to post their own stories, called diaries, and that there's often thought provoking discussing in the comments. The minus is that community posted stories rarely include original material and opinion, in fact they don't even have an opinion section like major newspapers. For my take on why my story got me banned, with the story removed from the site, without any reason sent to me, can be found if you Google my name, Hal Brown, and a keyword like Daily Kos or Trump. That will get you to my blog.

I receive DailyKos newsletter and I often sign petitions of theirs which is fine. Their online site where users comment in response to articles however is outrageously unfair and severely censors any opinion different from theirs even if your comment is free from foul language, slurs, threats, or anything remotely offensive. The administrators also refused to delete account as requested. I've unsubscribed to their newsletter and refuse to have anything to do with them. They are trash.

While I support much of their progressive actions, they use underhanded spamming tactics. By signing one petition, they automatically add your email to several other lists without your consent because they don't give you a choice not to subscribe. Sneaky at best, possibly illegal. Their unsubscribe method is also underhanded: no way to unsubscribe from all their lists at once, requiring multiple actions to unsubscribe one at a time. Totally deceitful.

Their site does not allow any comments that contradict or criticize Democratic Party or progressive ideology. If if you so much as hint that you might not be fully supportive of progressive politics or criticize their political stars such ad Maxine Waters or AOC you are threatened with banishment from the side or even are banished out right. Then you are no longer able to post any further comments. I've never seen this site so afraid of this agreement as this one. Conservative websites are encouraging to people who disagree with them and engage in vigorous discussions without resorting to banning open you say don't like. What a what a bunch of wimps Daily Kos members are!. Everybody there is walking on egg shells terrified of saying something that's politically incorrect or goes against their narrative or orthodoxy and being banned from the site. The site is nothing more than a safe place for wimpy Leftists ans Marxists who are afraid to vigorously argue with conservatives or other people that point out the error of their ways. They say that 50% or more of progressive liberal women have mental illness or are neurotic. It seems that they all must be posting at the DaikyKos it's pretty amusing to read some of the ridiculous lefty comments on the site. Don't waste your time with them.

Liberals are doomed. And I'm a liberal. I went to DK looking for liberal friends, and instead found a bunch of total jerks. Very hurt and disappointed. Honestly a huge waste of time.

This is the kind of place where a person can write a solid, well-researched, entertaining article about any subject from environmentalism to trickle-down economics... but if the author employs some generic phrase that some of the liberals there object to, that's all they'll focus on.

Most of the users at DK have been there for years, and I have to say that most of them are pretty decent, intelligent, and informed souls. Some are even entertaining.

But there are groups within the group there, so they tend to ignore and patronize new users. They also spend a remarkable time rehashing churlish jealousies and petty rivalries, since almost everybody there is in competition to write a "diary" that's featured on the front page.

80% of the folks are good, but you'll never get to know them.
15% of them are "Liberal Stinkers" who seem to live to be insulted and see racism in everything.
And about 5% of them are total jerks.

A worthless site, on the whole, all it does is generate advertising revenue for the owner, who is so detached from the scene that he can't even see how many of the jerks are literally driving new members away.

So... your mileage may vary, but the Daily Kos is hardly the liberal oasis it pretends to be.

It's a childish, petty, non-sensical (no block buttons) little corner of the universe filled with attention whores and virtue signalers.

This site is a good one for letting people know what is going on with the United States, the government, and the people. Thank you

Full of poorly written, topics which do not fairly or reasonably report on the topics at hand many trash articles which are nothing more than smear pieces, and they show lack of real journalism skills. Plus they spam people terribly. I didn't sign up for thier garbage but keep getting it sent to me over and over.

Daily Kos will PERMANENTLY BAN anyone expressing an opinion that contradicts or attacks the philosophy of the Leftists. Afraid to face opposing opinions they will quickly prevent anyone who argues in support of conservative opinions from ever posting again. They are nothing more than a leftist safe space.

Extreme censorship and intolerance towards any opposing or independent views. Anti-democratic values. Too much group think behavior and bullying tactics promoting a reckless "cancel culture". They do not offer any refunds on subscription membership dues and their paid staff is practically nonresponsive and unavailable.

The Daily Kos, in my estimation, is trying to take over some of the same causes that other advocacy organizations (MoveOn.org, Avaaz, National Resources Defense Council, & Sierra Club and others) have done so well over many years. My fear is that the Daily Kos will crowd out the outstanding track records of the established organizations listed above who have proved themselves to be highly credible and successful. Please stay away from Daily Kos and stick with the advocacy groups we know we can trust.
