The only thing that I can say about be2 is that it is full of scammers. Having alerted them to one I was then confronted by another and another and so it went on!!! It was a good job I had a sense of humour as I was able to spot them and in the end signed in under false name to see if they would try and make contact again...bingo. Lol. The sad thing that there may be a few honest people there, of which I was one, but there were so many scammers that it was a pointless exercise. Watch out because they steal unprotected identities from facebook. Just remember a couple of things never give any of them money just don't get sucked into their stories however believable. It is very sad that be2 don't care but then why should they, they have your money and will keep sending you profiles. GET OUT FAST.

I signed up for what was described as a trial for £5.00 with this dating site, my cancellation date was given as 2/8/2010, I cancelled my subscription before the due date only to find that £149.94 was taken out of my account a couple of days later, when i complained to the company about this they informed me that I should have cancelled 7 days prior to my cancellation date?? I have repeatedly sent emails to this company demanding they pay back my money but they are refusing, please do not use this dating site, the only emails you receive are computer generated and are not genuine. I have recently seen other complaints posted on the Internet about this company. Please be aware.

I am totally disappointed with this site, I have just lost my £149. I complained before the deadline but they waited and replied after the deadline saying that they cannot refund. Has anyone managed to get a refund so far?

I'm absolutely devastated about a horrible situation that I'm in.

I have fallen pray to Be2.co.uk internet dating site's ridiculously hidden and confusing Terms and Conditions.

I signed up for the one month trial for £5 and didn't see anywhere on the website that clearly stated in the Terms and Conditions that there is a 14 day cancellation period.

Last week, I decided to cancel my membership as I still had approximately one week left before my membership went on to auto-renewal, and I spent over 3 extremely frustrating hours trying to figure out how to cancel. In the end I gave up and sent an email to Be2 customer services to request cancellation. I received an email a few hours later to say that as I had not cancelled outside of 14 days, they would charge me £149 to stay on the site for a 6 month membership which I do not want.

I feel as though I have been tricked. I have since sent several emails to the customer service dept only to be told that their Terms & Conditions apply equally to all members, and form a binding contract. The contract is governed under Luxembourg law and as I did not cancel within the period specified in the Terms & Conditions, my membership will automatically re-bill for £149.94 - which is the amount I am contractually obligated to pay for the services which I have voluntarily purchased from them, however, these Terms and Conditions are near impossible to find.
I have also Googled them and am shocked by the amount of similar complaints made against this company.

After more rooting around, I found these Ts and Cs on the website
which are written in such unbelievable jargon that even upon reading, they still aren't very clear. The key line says:

(3) Upon expiry of the purchased access period, access to the chargeable option of making contact under item II (5) and the related contractual relationship under item III (3) shall be automatically extended by an access period as selected or indicated (e.g. 3 or 6 months), unless the Client terminates in writing fourteen days before expiry of the access period or, if another termination period was communicated when buying the access period, within this other stated termination period, indicating his/her full name and his/her alias. The termination must be requested using the respective link in "Settings" in "Premium Membership", if available, or by facsimile. Upon receipt of the confirmation of payment for the first purchase the user shall be informed of the day (date) until which the contract shall firstly run and by what duration the term will be extended unless due notice of termination is given.

(1) Any objections to amounts of debited or charged fees which a Client may have must be raised and substantiated versus be2 in writing at the latest 14 days from debit of the objected fees or from receipt of the objected invoice. If the Client should fail to raise any substantiated objections within said 14 days period, the debited or charged fees shall be deemed to be approved. Any costs or fees incurred due to the delay or default of payment are the responsibility of the Client. In the event of a delay or default of payment, interest will be charged in accordance with prevailing statutory regulations.

So they basically say that unless memberships are cancel outside of 14 days they will charge membership fees but it's not very clear and I don't know how legally binding it is.

Also, when I signed up, I remember thinking that it was odd that the visible Ts and Cs on the website stated that if you were to cancel your membership before your first paid month is up, your profile would immediately be removed from the site, so, even though they advertise that the first month only costs £5, if I had cancelled before the 14 day cancellation period, my profile would be taken off the site immediately and I would have lost out on 2 weeks. This is why I chose to cancel just one week before my paid month was up. The whole business conduct of this terrible company is totally unfair and extremely sneaky.

If I had know what kind of an awful company they were who have absolutely no interest in helping people find relationships, I would have steered well clear of them and I strongly advise others to do the same.

I signed up for the £5.00 special offer and cancelled my account in plenty of time only to be told they didn't receive my faxes to cancel so I sent more and tried to email but nothing happened. Then they took £149.00 out of my account and would no longer answer any of my emails or phone calls. Between the scammers and the profiles with no photographs I think the whole thing is a massive rip off. Don't join this site you will get nothing out of it except an empty bank account.

Ladies beware.....this so called dating site is truly dreadful. Within 48 hours I was getting spammed...alot. Even worse, the site is full of bogus guys who send you mail (stolen picture, profile etc etc) claiming to be doctors, IT specialists...you name it. They ask for your personal email address early on - do NOT give this out. After 2-3 they are pretty easy to spot. English is very bad (but they all have masters degrees....) and they trip up on questions to do with their profile

I tried to cancel my membership and be2 made it incredibly difficult to cancel....they are just after your paypal or credit card details
Keep OFF THIS SITE........

Firstly the advert that got my attention was false. It was showing me pictures of possible match's from my hometown. When i clicked on there pics, nothing. I tried many times.
The site also cleverly advertised there were many pictures and profiles for me to choose from. Again untrue, i was sent a few that the site thought i would like, It sent me profiles outside the specifics i requested and when I'd had enough i tried to cancel it and guess what? i couldn't. I then emailed be2. After 2 days i was emailed back with a phone number. I phoned got cut off. I phoned again and got through to a customer service rep called Gary. From the start he spoke over me and was defensive about anything i said. I did bring this to his attention, i do hope the call was recorded and they use if for future training on what not to do!
This site is the worse site i have tried, in my opinion, if your searching for just anyone then yes this is the site for you.

I signed up with them on 12 September 2010, and tried to cancel on 6 October 2010.

They are due to take £149 .94 from my credit card this week on Tuesday or Wednesday. I have been arguing with them not to do so, but they say that my contract will now run until April 2011, because they did not get 14 days notice of my intention to cancel.

After Googling the multitude of complaints - and having re-read the correspondence that I had with them last week - I decided to err on the side of caution and speak to my credit card provider tonight. My original intention was to wait until it was processed and then challenge it as fraud. Anyway, my provider has cancelled the card and has assured me that nothing can go through after tonight.

I am sure the bloodsuckers will start threatening me, but it will be to no avail. They do not scare me. It is a harsh lesson to learn, but I will now be very wary about who gets my credit card details in the future.

Good luck to all of you fighting against Be2. I feel for you. This company really should be forced to insert an opt-out/opt-in choice on their website, rather than just opt you in for 6 months. If this is allowed under Luxembourg law it is crazy. Presumably it it not acceptable under European law as a whole though, but we will have to wait for a test case

I have been sending emails all week to cancel still can not get the code, after only 3 days of being on the site it is a scam , can you cancel?

Yes!
Just email customer services and say you are cancelling within the agreed period that is in the terms and conditions. Then cancel your debit/credit card so they can't take money from you, and forget about them!
I did it and they have never contacted me so don't worry!
Please let me know how you get on. They definitely are a scam! Type them into Google and you will see how many people have complained about the same thing.
My advice is to do this immediately.
Good luck :)

Yes, it is a scam and yes you can cancel. You just end up going round and around on the website trying to find non-existent cancellation links. Be2 is a seriously bad service that I made the mistake of clicking through via a link on Plentyoffish. Be2 are all about making money by relying on a 14 day notice period. They will not be getting mine, but it was a close thing.

just received email from them saying there may take legal action
