How easy is it to get a hold of customer service at nyhabitat?

Answer:

It is a useless customer service, it is like Live Chat that has no substantive info for you. It is more of a live forwarding service.

I did not feel comfortable working with these people. Everything they told me seemed completely made up on the fly, their fee, amount for deposits, how payments are made...

What fee do u charge for getting an apt?

Answer:

They make their fees up. I was quoted a 40% fee of the total rental, when customary fee in Paris (where I was looking) is 5%. When I mentioned the percentage, the agent was surprised she quoted such a figure.
