Hello, I've read raving AND raging reviews as well about MyUS. I guess that it all comes down to this: if you're gonna take my CC info, YOU need to check with my country's customs to see if my shipment will incur in any extra taxes or not before you let me use your service thinking everything will be resolved. I have tried your shipping cost calculator and it's true: the cost of shipping a laptop can be the same to that of an e-reader, but NOBODY likes surprises when the cost skyrockets here after I already made a purchase THERE. I was gonna buy a ton of things with you to make sure the weight is worth it, but seeing that you are unclear as to wether I'll incur in extra charges here in Peru or not, I think it's better I save money and travel myself. Please let me know if this policy will change or not. Thanks.

Thank you for your inquiry. The published MyUS.com shipping rates are for door-to-door delivery. There may be additional import fees or duty for merchandise shipments coming into your country. In some cases, couriers may also charge a brokerage fee for clearing your package through the local customs office. These fees can vary, and they are not covered by MyUS.com. The carrier will usually charge them upon delivery.

Please contact your local customs office for more information on duties or import fees.

Micaela, it all depends on the rules in Peru. I'm a MyUS customer and one of the reasons I like their service is because they give me a discount on the shipping cost, each time.

There's an option in your shipping settings where you can select 'label as gift', usually customs aren't charged on gift items. Maybe you should try that once. Works for me all the time.

I hope someone from MyUS will respond to your question and give you a more satisfying answer.

All the best.

Its a bad idea for only one item to ship, i think myus is better for bulk shipment. As it is the item we are buying from sellers even they give discount for bulk items.

Customs duties vary from country to country, and even then, sometimes a customs officer's choice of duty is up to his discretion. Knowing customs duties for all countries is simply not core to MyUS’s business, and I don’t expect them to advise me on that. For receiving and forwarding packages, MyUS is the best in the US.

If you are concerned about customs duties, check the rules in your own country, or ask your shipper, like DHL or Fedex. They can usually advise you, but they can only tell you what the rules say, not how the product will be actually be evaluated by customs.
