I am agree with Ramina. 90% is not hand made. All comes from Factories. When someone has over 8000's item don't you ask who made it. They are all over from Pakistan to turkey east to west up united state. Etsy is happy just to take your money and every 4 or 5 months closing one store to show off and if you have some money as a credit they take it too. No customer service, no respect no manor, they made policy just for FUN and they have FUN with our pocket. Stay far from them FAR FAR.

About 90% of what is on etsy is not handmade. Since 2013 etsy started allowing China, India and other slave labor countries to set up shops of 'handmade' items without questioning how the items were hand made.

Etsy claims to be a handmade only site plus supplies. I found about 40% is not handmade or the at best mass produc ed items. Also tons of fakes out there. They only take action when they receive a claim - they make too much money off fake stuff. Not recommended. Ebay is the way to go or artfire.com. At leas they are honest about it and you can check sold history which gives you a good idea if an item is mass produced or not.

I'm not sure what u mean by authentic? I wouldn't recommend Etsy anyway, I didn't get the article agreed upon, sent it back but the seller refused to refund though she initially agreed it might be a mistake, and no help at all from Etsy. Just lots and lots of e-mails.

I never received the product after paying (with no recourse)--so can't say it is authentic or not authentic when the woman never sent it!

You have a choice for payment on Etsy - PayPal if you have a PayPal account and using your credit card through the Etsy Direct Checkout. Obviously Etsy prefers their method of payment because they make money. They also will not accept gift cards if you pay by PayPal. They are both about the same. If I use my PayPal they (PayPal) makes sure I get a separate receipt sent to my email account associated with the Etsy account. If I use Etsy Direct Checkout, they are spotty about notifying me of a new purchase - sometimes they send a receipt, sometimes they don't. But if they don't, I can still access my purchases/receipts in my account.

@Jeanne: using a credit card for Etsy purchases is the safest way to go. If you're unhappy with the quality of the item purchased, you just start a dispute with your credit card, aka chargeback. This will produce instant results, Etsy (or PayPal) will step aside and watch from the sidelines as your credit card returns your money.

Oops... Spell Check. Obviously meant "Chanel" NOT "Channel".

These are pretty amazing - handmade food rings. I came across these on more than one blog lately, so hopefully the creator is doing some business out of the publicity.

Hi I just opened my own web store at PendulumCrafts.Webstore.com, and its been several months but NO sells yet. I would like an honest opinion about how my store looks, feels, and if the descriptions are at all informative.

Has anyone ordered the custom photo portrait stamp from etsy? The seller is lilmandril from france. I am little hesitant to purchase the stamp because it doesnt give me the option to upload the photo I would liked on the stamp before I pay. It doesnt give me sellers info, so Im not sure on how this works. Anyone? Help!
