I have a policy number to prove I'm a 'customer' of 1st Central

This is what they did to me.

Waited until my 14 day cooling off period was up, so I couldn't cancel the policy at no cost to me. Then I was immediately emailed by 'policy analysis' dept at 1st central stating they needed to 'validate' my policy. This despite it being a renewal and having already been insured with them the previous year
Then, when I called, they said my employment would come under 'care assistant', not 'health visitor' so an amendment would have to be made. Then, on my £228 annual policy, they charged me £78 to change my 'job title' on my policy. Very nice for them and very sneaky. 35% of my entire annual policy cost to 'amend' 2 words that I'd argue weren't wrong in the first place.

When I said I would rather cancel, I was informed that it would cost me £129 to do so and I would be refunded less than half my annual payment for the 32 days coverage they claim they provided me with.

Very clever the way that they do it bearing in mind you have to pick a job title from THEIR drop down list. Then they tell you it's incorrect after you can't cancel.

By the way, the £78 extra charged was for £28 change of policy (though what my job title has to do with my driving, I don't know) plus £50 Admin charge to change the 2 word job title on my policy.

If you insure with 1st central after reading this, don't say you weren't warned.

I have, of course, complained but expect nothing from 1st central given what they've done here. I'll then go to the ombudsman. It will probably do little good but I may as well.

I will certainly take every opportunity in future to tell anyone who'll listen why they shouldn't insure anything with this lot.
