I installed an Aquasafecanada Reverse Osmosis system under my kitchen sink about eight years ago with no problems. This week a filter canister came loose from the filter housing and flooded my kitchen and living room.
Inspection determined that the housing threads had become brittle and could be easily peeled back with a thumbnail. System pressure is regulated at 65 PSI and there was nothing close to this filter that could precipitate a failure. The plastic wrench which came with the system was also brittle and could be broken by finger into little short pieces. It had been at least four years since the filters had been last changed and they were not dirty when removed now. It is apparent to me that the plastic Aquasafe uses has a rather short useful life. I replaced with a reputable brand.
