I have been ordering supplies from Sailrite for my one-woman canvas shop since 2016. At first they were great. I have defended them to my bigger marine canvas buddies as the go-to place for small quantities, good prices and great customer service. Over the years they have changed for the worse in all three categories. Lately I have been most frustrated by the condition of materials which no longer arrive in boxes but in plastic sleeves. The plastic sleeves get scuffed on the ends, the fabric gets dirty and the cardboard tubes--if you're lucky enough to get them--get bent. Bent tubes put creases in fabric, especially Sunbrella and vinyl.
Most recently I ordered 3 yards of cushion underlining. It came folded and stuffed in a box! I needed it for a job that was on the table. I was waiting for it so that I could finish the job. But before I could use it I had to go over the wrinkles with a heat gun and tightly roll it myself and leave it overnight to try to get the creases out. I spent 20 minutes dealing with damages that wouldn't have existed if they had spent 20 seconds rolling it onto a tube. I lost an afternoon's work.
Sailrite is losing me as a customer. Their prices are going up and their product handling is becoming shabby. They don't seem to care about the end user like they used to.
