I've been a Bank of Internet customer for several years now, they are an OK bank, but nothing special. I had mix of good customer service, and horrible customer service. My direct deposit always arrives on time. My ATM Fees have promptly been credited. As far as I know, I have not been charged an overdraft fee. Even though my particular account doesn't have overdraft fees. You don't want to bounce a check with them. They waste no time returning the NSF check. They offer no overdraft protection, and being a branch less bank there are limited ways to quickly deposit something if you notice a mistake. They have a way to immediately deposit money into your account by loading money onto your ATM card (like a prepaid card), at places that accept deposits using the vanilla network. I had cases where that method didn't work. Of course you can wire funds into the account... Check deposits are on hold for a long time. Mobile banking deposits take forever for the funds to become available. They will probably hold those 5 business days. There are ways to overnight a deposit. But still checks are on hold for several days. Every feature on the account is done by 3rd parties. When a service goes down, they won't take responsibility. If Billpay goes down, Its not their fault. When mobile deposit goes down. Its not their fault. If the option to send money to an external account goes down, its not their fault. If the vanilla network deposit goes down. Its not their fault. If the debit card doesn't work. Not their fault. They won't send an email or message to notify you the services are down. They just leave you hanging. Usually between midnight and 6 AM your available balance is always screwy. It will show the balance from the day before, or two days ago. You would think being an internet bank with no branches they would be state of the art, and high tech. They're not. My other checking account from the small home town credit union has much better (reliable) services. They aren't the greatest, and they aren't the worst. I think they could use some improvements.
