Been working out most my entire adult life. Was living above the downtown Austin gym for 2 weeks while seeking permanent digs in ATX, saw the gym downstairs (didn't even have to open my car door) and decided to join (soon to realize was a BIG mistake) for a couple of weeks- one month tops (as our residence was for only 2 weeks). I worked-out there 6-8 times and (regrettably) convinced my girlfriend to join as well.
I am a convenience freak- so this was good- at first, right away when entering or leaving, sometimes the people at the front desk did not even acknowledge my presence (who pays their salaries?) when entering...too busy having sex switch their phones I suppose?
NOW TO BRASS TACKS= me- almost 63, not my first gym membership (regardless of length of membership) in all my time I have NEVER had such a difficult time cancelling a membership, so much so, that after fraudulently charging my credit card (did not realize until 3 months later...never use the card anymore) BOTH SHE AND I CANCELLED AS INSTRUCTED AT THE FRONT DESK...Golds refuses to acknowledge that:
1 Not patronizing the gym for MONTHS
2 Not working with me in any way, shape, or form to come to a solution for this matter- NOT acknowledging that they (could have) dropped the ball.
3 Both my Fiancé and I have made it clear that Gold's manner in which to cancel is a joke, which we nonetheless cancelled as indicated, with a STAFF member at the front desk.
4 Effective today, my Fiancé now has a COLLECTION agency letter since they took the SAME posture with her as well!
5 My...proof that this organization is very dirty, so much so that when you...TRY...to call the corporate office in Irving, TX I was unable after 4 attempts to get anyone on the phone and when I hit various numbers on the phone? All were set-up to get me on the phone with the DOWNTOWN Austin gym, based on their phone system understanding what area code I was calling from...what legitimate business won't take a phone call at their CORPORATE office location?
LASTLY, during my few/our visits, a couple of times I had to tell the homeless boys that I had no cash (not needed at the gym) and they got stopped with me...making me want to be unkind, don't need that pre or post workout
