The last place you want to buy a high end laptop from
February 28, 2023

I bought from them Exotic PC model GP17 which is a rebranded Eluktronics MAX-17 which in turn is a Chinese made Tongfang GM7NG0P. It features AMD Ryzen 4800H CPU and Nvidia RTX 3060 GPU. Here is the summary of the issues I experienced.
1.The Laptop was delivered with a 6 weeks delay despite being reassured before placing the order that all components were in stock. The laptop was shipped to Asia and the limitation imposed by the shipper on the length of the characters in the address resulted in going to the wrong address which caused an extra of about 200 USD custom duties.
2.The laptop was delivered with the Exotic PC Control Center software. It was full of bugs with the LED and CPU power mode switching on their own.
3.The Bios are cheap and extremely basic and unlike other similar devices also offer no CPU voltage and clock control.
4.From day one the laptop AMD CPU was cycling at idle from min frequency to boost constantly. The fan was speeding up and down trying to keep up with the 4300 MHz induced heat (stock frequency is only 2900 MHz). Without touching the laptop (with just Windows Apps running) the temperature was constantly cycling about 10 C and averaging 60 C and the fan noticeably buzzing up and down. Believe it or not Exotic PC had no solutions and said that the cycling is normal.
5.The QHD screen failed twice in about a year of light office use, the first time under warranty which was not honored (the shipping cost to the US was more expensive than changing the screen locally). The first time, only the screen was changed, the second time also the cable.
6.The power switch needed to be pressed twice or once for a few secs to power up the laptop. A very annoying way to start up which halves the switch life expectancy. Exotic PC had no clue how to change the setting.
Eventually I fixed all the issues with no help from Exotic PC or Eluktronics (still unclear if the screen will fail again). CPU thermal cycling was fixed with Registry Editor to change boost behavior. The Control Center software was changed and so was the power button behavior.
Lessons learned
1.Never buy anything from Exotic PC. They are just middle men that add no value to the purchase, just another layer of bureaucracy and headaches. Buy directly from the first re-brander (Eluktronics in this case) or better from the manufacturer.
2.Once the sale is done they offer no effective support, just words, excuses and no cost effective solutions. As my case prove the technical support expertise is way too low for these high-end custom devices.
3.Do not buy Tongfang computers unless you are Chinese (I had to involve a Chinese friend to help me) and ideally you should reside or go to China now and then. Although they are well priced great machines nobody can really fix them unless it is some basic and evident part swap (I still don't know why my screen failed twice). The various companies that re-brand them worldwide can't really fix them and even more so generic laptops shops. The OEM does not offer appropriate technical documentation, schematics, part lists or the support required for in depth troubleshooting.
If you can, buy from Tongfang Hong Kong or Uniwill in Taiwan or Mechrevo in mainland China. They are the closest to the factory and speak the language of the OEM.

Tip for consumers:

Take time to research the vendor before buying

Terrible Service; Ableist & Discriminatory "Support"
January 22, 2023

Within 24 hours of initially receiving my computer (in November of 2018) & taking it out of the box I experienced an unrecoverable BSOD loop that required RMA. This was reported to them within 1 day of the initial receipt & within 2 days of their shipping the unit to me.

Over the next 2 years XoticPC "serviced" the unit for RMA 2 times due to their supports intentional stalling, in one instance even holding the computer for months at a time when they did have it, & band-aid fixes involving the CPU that never fully resolved the issues the unit had Since Day 1.

After their two attempts at the CPU, I began to notice the GPU overheating & intermittently failing, also causing the computer to crash; These failures became more & more frequent over time, with the initial BSOD issue also remaining as a recurring, if slightly less frequent, problem.

Over the 4 years+ since my initial purchase the unit never functioned correctly without regular BSOD & Graphics Card Crashing.

Sager has serviced the unit 2 times within the last 12 months, also failing to remedy the issues present. Their approach was to replace the GPU. This approach also had minimal impact in resolving the issues present, with the unit still experiencing both the BSOD & Graphics Card Crashes even with both the GPU & CPU now having been replaced.

On 01/10/2023 I contacted XoticPC to initiate a refund as I no longer had faith in either their or Sagers ability to provide a suitably repaired or replacement product.

As a disabled adult my (former) Representative Payee (mother) completed the initial purchase on my behalf in exchange for my money.

I informed XoticPC of the situation at hand & began going back & forth with their "support agent" (I use this term as lightly today as I ever have in my life) via email.

During this "back & forth" (which was still ongoing as of the morning of 1/12/2023) I was repeatedly lied to, asked questions I had already provided answers for, & my claims summarily belittled, dismissed & ignored.

Their "support agent" refused to acknowledge my issues the majority of the day until I provided a detailed, complex breakdown of each and every detail of each crash I could along with screenshots.

My every message was met with replies from their agent containing lies, misinformation & more dismissal of my claims. At every turn their agent chose to belittle my claims & insist upon allowing them to continue wasting my time & treating me with disrespect by stalling, refusing my refund & insisting I let them repair it again.

During the course of this, XoticPC chose to respond to my BBB complaint with inaccurate information that was provided to them by Sager. When confronted with their responses inaccuracies & proof of such, the agent blamed me for their mistake instead of taking responsibility for their own failure.

After proving my case thoroughly & beyond impeachment over email; When the "support agent" ran out of excuses, stall tactics & reasons to deny my request; The agent then resorted to ableism, informing me they had contacted my former payee & stating "We just spoke to your mother" (former payee) in an attempt to bypass me entirely & obtain a resolution to their satisfaction without my consent.

They also stated the following "I would be willing to see if can assist with Sager to move your hard drives and ram to a new similar-performance machine instead of using the funds to replace the GPU? Is that an option?"

Still trying everything they could to avoid giving me the refund I am due.

Additionally, after doing so they insisted we continue the discussion over the phone & refused to continue by email; This is a denial of handicap accessible service as I require email to respond in an accurate manner. As such the agent has violated the Americans With Disabilities Act, Title III & has been reported to the Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division for doing so.

At this time (01/12/2023) I have received the following after sending the full thread to their management email listed here.

"We have followed our warranty agreement and have exceeded our obligations under this warranty. You have received our offers to assist you, it is up to you to accept these offers. Your parts warranty has expired in 2021. Your laptop is 4+ years since purchase and over 1 Year ourside of that warranty term.

If you have nothing more to add there is nothing more to discus on this.

Please let us know if you would like to proceed on the offers on or before end of day January 13th 2023 through this email address."

To which I replied:
"You provided a faulty product and failed to meet your obligations under warranty...
If you refuse my refund we can proceed to court, regardless of any unreasonable & legally unenforceable "deadline" you claim to impose."

"Agent" needs a new job & XoticPC needs a Class Action.

Tip for consumers:

Avoid XoticPC at all costs; Their service is "great" up until the moment they have your money.

Please do not buy anything from Xotic pc.
March 1, 2021

If you need a TLDR all I can say is that getting a pc off of amazon is so much smoother and less a painful than my personal experience with Xotic PC.
Now on to the review: It started back in april when I decided I wanted to upgrade my old clunker of a pc and I got a recommendation from a friend for xotic so I looked them up and a few days later I had decided they would be the people I got it from so I had opened a chat with customer support so I could have some help while making my pc and my order was on the way.
Problem #1 Shipping: At first when I was ordering it I had been told it would only take around 4-6 days to be finished and shipped specifically because I had asked for a model that was in stock and could be shipped as soon as possible and I was told that the one I picked was in stock only for a few days later for me to receive an email stating they haven't forgotten about my order and when I asked what was going on with it I was told that it was out of stock DESPITE the fact I paid for a more expensive model because I was lied to about it being in stock but I shouldnt worry since it would only take around 7-9 days for it to be sent out in total. Once again when I had asked about it they had said 10-16 and then 10-20 days constantly delaying when it would actually be shipped out and never actually giving me a proper timeframe for when it would arrive (I believe it ended up taking just over a month for it to be shipped NOT delivered) There are more issues with shipping but they arent as important so I will get to them later
Problem #2 Dead on arrival: As the name implies when I had finally received my order I immediately set it up and turned on my brand new PC aside from a long booting time it worked perfectly for a few days and then it started glitching out and acting really weirdly and im sure it wasnt a virus slowing it down since I had only installed a few important things like Discord, Steam, battle.net and chrome. Soon the glitches and distorted audio became full screen tearing, full on crashing and flashing random colors as it crashed. These were so common I could only use my computer for around a half hour before I had to start it back up again and I was only able to use chrome or else it would only last around 10 minutes. I had asked support for assistance with whats happening and they recommended a bunch of things I had tried such as reinstalling my ram sticks factory resetting it plugging and unplugging and basically everything short of the macarena under the moon to get it fixed up but nothing was working so after less than a month of me owning it I had asked for a full refund since its not like I just decided I didn't want it anymore and that it was broken out of the box and gotten to a point where it would only boot to a blue screen of death that it must have been a special case but despite it all they had refused even though I had video and picture evidence of everything that was happening so instead I had to send it back in for repairs and I was extremely suspicious of them because I was lied to directly so they could make a quick sale so I had asked what would happen if I sent it in for repairs to their "RNA team" and it came back broken. They refused to answer, they didnt even possibly entertain the idea of it being sent back broken and they assured me that it will 100% be fixed no issues about it (I also have screenshots of them claiming this on multiple occasions) and after getting my label emailed to me I had shipped it out a day or so after deciding I had to get it repaired. I was hopeful when they had received it and I gotten an email telling me that they had found the issue (problems with memory) and are working on it right now and will have it repaired and shipped to me in just a few days. 11 days later I had gotten an email saying they shipped it to me and when I had received it I was terrified that they hadnt actually fixed it and that it was the same problem I had before aka it only boots to a blue screen of death and my heart sank when I got it all set up just to see the :( face staring at me when windows said it had failed to boot. Needless to say I was quite angry that once again I was lied to. I had immediately decided I had enough and I went to the website to ask what the heck had happened and if now I could get a refund since their otherworldly RNA team couldnt even fix my problem despite them saying they had fixed it much less I wasnt even sure if they had tried to turn it on and if it werent for the new packaging foam inside I seriously wouldnt know if they had touched it at all and once again they said no to any chance of a full refund so I had to spend the rest of the week problem shooting with customer support to actually fix it myself. I just got a character limit so ill cut it short here but there were so so so many more problems that I might have to write a second review to finish. Once again TLDR For the love of GOD do NOT order from here if you want an easy custom PC.

Tip for consumers:

The chat window can be up to 48 hrs and despite my scathing review please do not be rude to the customer support agents they are doing their best with everything going on

Customer Service Nightmare
August 7, 2020

I purchased the ASUS Republic of Gaming (ROG) Zephyrus GX501 when it came out in March of 2019, from XOTIC PC. The ticket for the machine with tax was $4,118.

From day one, the light leakage from the bezel was excessive to the point of annoying (and I paid $98 to XOTIC to verify this and they clearly did not calibrate or test the leakage). Not being a gamer but a heavy spreadsheet user with regular presentations warranted a 17" screen.

First, on the unit. The screen is very flimsy and at 17" you have to be super careful opening and closing. The pop-up bottom vent on its face is clever but it constantly gets caught and pops out of the hinges. Not good if you ever actually plan to go mobile with your laptop.

Had a number of performance issues, and of course the battery life is awful. At first I got about 90 minutes, and it steadily declined from there. And that is where things went bad.

Initially, it would just go to a shorter and shorter fully charged life, then it hit the point where it wouldnt charge AT ALL. (Does this sound like a battery failure?). After about two months of that, it then would not work even off power. I called XOTIC and then ASUS and they convinced me my 10 month old computer needed a new $200 charger (chargers apparently not on warranty!). New charger accomplished ZERO. So after almost a month of attempts to reach XOTIC, they finally responded (I had to call sales department, support at XOTIC doesnt answer). They had me send computer direct to ASUS in Texas, which I did on March 8 of this year. After a month (it is now late May), I pressed XOTIC and ASUS to tell me status and they stated it wasn't received. About four more weeks passed and Fedex showed up with the box, marked "package refused".

Package was resent to ASUS with signature receipt, and delivered and signed for on June 6. June 26, calls again out for status, and told "we didnt get package". I sent them signed copy from ASUS (marked June 6 by "Christopher") and they notified me that they received on July 11. Despite by their own signature and date completely disavowing that.

They then notified me that 'they suspect' issues might be damage - when they opened case some screws where clearly installed poorly and chassis had flaking paint. They also took a close up of mild cosmetic damage to a corner. Keep in mind, display in perfect order other than light leakage, and issue was battery wouldnt take charge or work off AC.

I suggested that if ASUS machine was poorly assembled this was an ASUS problem... I never disassembled and replaced pieces with identical crappy pieces - let's get real.

To this day, five months without my laptop, neither ASUS nor XOTIC can give me a straight answer to how this is getting fixed. PS, I also did take out the XOTIC "Damage Warranty" which XOTIC wont even acknowledge having any relevance. Light leakage is not damage, it is a "defect", and now that the 1 year warranty from factory is up (because it sat in the ASUS shop for months).

In the end there is NO solution on the table. I have no $4000 laptop, no idea what is being done, and both ASUS and XOTIC just craft lovely letters apology saying "we are sorry for your experience". I have more than 2 dozen of those letters. Not one says what they plan to do other than for XOTIC to fight with ASUS, ASUS to fight with XOTIC, and both of them to ignore me.

Both ASUS and XOTIC PC have illustrated the worst customer experience I have ever encountered in decades. As much as I dislike Apple, and in spite of that sometimes buying more than 100 laptops per year from them, I did so because they took care of me. This experience could not have been more opposite. Both companies do not deserve anyone's business, it is totally and completely unacceptable.

I am taking both parties to small claims court, first time in my life, but this cannot stand, even if just on principle alone.

Awful company, even worse customer service. Regret giving them my money.
July 31, 2020

I don't want to go on too much of a rant but I'm extraordinarily frustrated with my purchase with this company. Bought a laptop $1400 base, upgraded to about $2k with a double SSD, an extra HDD, extra ram, most expensive thermal paste offered, $50 for a rush build, etc.

First day out of the box, after installing Avast antivirus and steam. I updated everything, restarted, then I installed GTA 5, ran it, and had my laptop hit 96 degrees Celsius instantly. Shut it down and went to bed confused. The next day I turned on my computer, and it took 26 minutes to turn on and get to where I could play GTA again. Not updating, just took 10 minutes to get to home screen, 10 minutes to open steam, then the normal time it takes to open GTA. Now I'm frustrated. This is a $2000 laptop that runs poorer than my 5 year old ps4. I start digging around and realize that XOTIC installed my windows on the low end extra space hdd that I paid extra $60 for instead of the NVMe SSD that i spent an extra $200 on. Second thing wrong. Finally I noticed one of the four rubber bumper pads (under the laptop to stop it from sliding and to give it airflow) was missing. I spent $2000 on a laptop that had 3 mistakes on it RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX. Unbelievable.

I finally called them to get it sent back for warranty repair and asked them to express ship it, in light of the not one but THREE mistakes on this utterly sloppy build. I was told and I quote "that we're doing you a favor already by paying for shipping both ways and repairing it". At that point I had it. That's outrageous. That's not a favor, that's called a warranty! What I'M asking for is a favor, which is faster shipping to make me feel better about spending $2000 on a awful laptop. They got the general manager involved, who of course said they weren't going to cover anything more than what they usually cover. Steaming with frustration but not once raising my voice or assuming an aggressive tone, I asked if they could guarantee than I'll have it back in 3 weeks as I need to leave for school and I need my laptop for school. They said, "it's a fairly good chance". A fairly good chance... I asked them, "can you make me a promise since you already made 3 mistakes, won't help with shipping, can you at least promise you can get this done?" I don't even have to tell you what the answer was. Useless heartless customer service.

Don't spend money here. They don't care about you or your happiness with the product, purchase, or company and its customer service. You might be one of the lucky ones to get a good device, but if they screw it up like they do way way way too often, then be prepared to get repeated ignored, disrespected, and ridiculed by a team of people who professionally build and sell bad overpriced PC's.

I repair cars and motorcycles for a living. I wish this company held itself the the same standard that even dirty uneducated mechanics like my peers and I do. If I make a mistake working on someone's vehicle, I apologize profusely, repair the mistake for free, and grant them any reasonable request like a free oil change or some wipers blades, maybe a set of spark plugs. All stuff that costs not even $25, that is a small expense for me, but it's to see my customer happy in the end despite a small mistake. It's not only not rocket science, but it's not even a concept incomprehensible to a child.

XOTIC didn't mess anything up beyond repair but the fact that they don't care about making it right and making me happy is why I'm not shopping here anymore and why I'm no longer recommending this business to my friends.

Unprofessional terrible company
May 21, 2020

It took a full month and 3 days to receive my build, according to their site of eta your legitimately looking for a mimum eta of 20 working days before its shipped, why I'm not sure. The process took 3 weeks of recieivg the items because they have nothing in stock as they claim for one. Then it took 2 days to build it then 3 days to test it lol? Absolutely terrible to begin with.
I let it go. Before shipping my pc I told them atleast 2 times that I wanted to change the shipping before it actually did it never happened. The day before it shipped I reminded them and they still didnt. I called ups to change and lay the shipping myself but they told me that id have to habe exotic authorize before I could. I was on the phone in 2nd line to be waited it took 15 mins, another 10 mims on hold after being told I was in que or the next representative. I told him the issue he put to me on another hold for 15 mins without coming back to check with me he told me that he spoke with someone that they would contact me to let me know if I could change it because they said they had a contract saying they couldn't when I personally work for fedex knowing you can and with ups even agreeing that they could, i wait 3 hours for a response no email, I call back.im on the phone waiting for another 20 mins finally get a diff person they say they go to check and i get hung up on. I call right after, get placed in number one que for 20 mins, i now know there ignoring me then hang up. I wrote them emails stating that I wanted a manger still yet no response im not the type of person to complain but I had no more patience with this unprofessional company the overall experience with staff, no response of management says it all. They do not care about service or there customers just there money. I wish I would have chosen to go with xdiax. I will never buy support or recommend this company to anyone. They do not deserve anything from anyone.

Quality Control, Unethical, damaged and cheap components.
October 28, 2019

Bought a 2k$ laptop, I'm in the USA, day 1 defective product.
I contacted them the next day for assistance.

BSOD, Loud fans, Gets hot, poor quality screen, locked at 8bit colors, entire screen flickers if there's a wide range of colors and brightness on the screen.

They delayed my RMA for over a month and then after 1 month they said my refund was out of the time frame. They diagnosed it as a software issue, this wasn't true and was only meant to delay me. Once the 1 month refund window was closed they offered to repair it if I shipped it back.
They failed to repair the computer, shipping it back to me still damaged so I had to send it to MSI.
MSI determined it was the RAM memory, XoticPC either willfully did this because it was the RAM they installed or are just incompetent. Failing to provide accurate diagnosis on multiple occasions, through email and with the physical device.
So now I've shipped it on 3 separate occasions to get it repaired just so I can sell it.
Now it's october when I purchased the laptop in June. This is the timeline you're looking at if you ever purchase from Xoticpc and have a problem.

They are now attempting to delete and remove all my reviews from other websites. Instead of offering me my request of a refund which I 100% deserve, they attempt to delete all negative reviews. If you see they have better reviews on 1 site than another it's because they delete all bad reviews from websites. They would rather pay some website to delete reviews rather than treat customers on a moral ground. They will talk down to you as they pretend to care just to get you to be quiet.

If they refunded everyone who was owed one due to defective devices, they would be out of business.

No Quality Control and No Honesty What so ever.
November 24, 2018

I feel guilty for even giving 1 star, If there was less than 1 star i would have definitely chosen that. They have no Quality control what so ever and the employees are totally dishonest. NEVER EVER TRUST THIS SHOP. First i bought from them a laptop (Gigabyte Aero 15X) that had allot of issues like the keyboard clicks don't register, the keyboard LEDs are burned in some keys, the screen had significant back-light bleed, the chassis was not well fixed so it made sounds upon typing. I returned it and asked for the same model but they didn't have it in stock as if mine was the last piece. So i chose the MSI GS65 instead. Honestly the manager was quite helpful in allowing me time so that i can wait to receive the the device before i return the defected one. And i thought after i found this helpful manager my experience with them would change but unfortunately not. The new device arrived and first after turning on i noticed a cluster of stuck pixels in the screen that are always blue, they never change, i tried some software and stuff but no way. Then after a week and then some keys stopped registering completely (Enter + End + Home + Win + Fn). So i returned it and i waited for another one. The other one arrived, with bad issues too, first there is something wrong with the capacitors on this board, it makes weird buzzing noise that were not in the first exact same model, second the laptop fans sound is totally different then the previous model, as if they are vibrating more than usual while rotating and the laptop heats significantly more than the previous one(same model). Third and strange is i noticed the battery LED is not working from day 1. This time i didn't return it, because i am from a different country and each time i would pay shipping both ways and brokerage fees and so on. I opened the device and immediately i noticed that the ribbon cable for the led was not connected, I though ok maybe the careless worker who assembled the device after upgrades forgot it, but then i discovered it was disconnected on purpose to hide a bigger issue. Whenever i bring anything metal or magnetic near this LED the laptop screen turns off! I have absolutely no idea what that is, but what i know, instead of them changing whatever causes this, they just disconnected the battery LED and yes, for some reason removing this LED would stop this issue, in addition to their huge dishonesty, they claim that they test the devices for some hours before shipping, then when you receive the device you find on the desktop a report with the stress test results. But they shipped it very fast that i doubted that they even tested anything so i opened this report and found out that the report is actually for another device of another model an Asus device with totally different configuration and on a totally different date. Which means they don't test anything they fake some reports and just say we test it. They even didn't bother to fake the date and the model of the device in the report. I am considering reporting them aggressively because i won't contact them anymore. Bottom Line: Xotic PC is a Scam, if you want to throw your money on the ground, go buy from them.
