Love the app, hate the pop up ads that are now on there. I would rather you charge me $5 a month to use it.

Zero Customer Service. If you have a problem forget about someone responding to your request. I started a paid subscription to bible gateway plus and couldnt log in to use it and could get no help at all to access it. They still drafted the monthly fees from my account. I never got a chance to use the service. I have requested that my subscription be terminated I hope they will respond.

The focus of the BibleGateway is to seperate you from your money. From the first click to the pop up and spam, money, money, money.

No god bless you. No go out and do good deeds. No nothing but click here and what is your bank info.

Money changing takes on a new meaning. BibleGateway changes your money into... Their money.

There are many good bible study websites that are free and never mention money. Your money.

Very efficient website that always user to search by topic, verse or phrases.

Easily compare versions and paraphrases or read commentary.

Tip for consumers:
I recommend one explore the site as it offers more than Bible translations immediately; give it some time.

I've used Bible Gateway app over 10 years. I value the audio reading of scripture, especially when driving. In the past month the audio continually malfunctions: cutting off the first verse, and stopping altogether before the end of a chapter. I've restarted my phone, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, but no resolution.

Verified purchase

I've used Biblegateway for several years. After some time time I purchased plus. In late 2021 I was needing to reduce my overall expenses so I cancelled the subscription. The app worked fine until a few weeks ago maybe 2-3 months. Ads have become annoying, I have to reset font size every time, and almost daily it takes several attempts to get my daily reading plan to open. Usually it will give me an error message there is no selected reading for the day. So I purchased the plus subscription again. Won't open in the app as plus only as the free version. I have to go to the website and log in and the format is so different it's confusing. I am not happy with this website anymore.

I have no problem with copy and paste of passages. Either there was a problem and it was corrected or the person who experienced the issue has a problem with their browser. Overall a good site, I don't like the ads but I have adapted to ignore them. At least the adds do not pop up in the middle of reading scripture.

I've started reading the Bible page by page from the beginning and was relying on this bc I realized my paper Bible was the new king King James Version. I needed the KJV and not Nkjv. But upon reading everyday I keep seeing this add EVERY SINGLE DAY. IF YOU WERE OF CHRIST YOU'D KNOW THAT YOGA IS EVIL AND DEMONIC AND NOT ONLY THAT LOOK AT THE MAT SHES USING WITH THE STAR SHAPE. So today I finally said "hey what's up with these ads" and did some research AND GUESS WHAT. I WONT BE USING YOUR WEBSITE EVER AGAIN!

Go back to how it worked before. You sold your soul for a quick buck and lost all meaningful value. The search doesn't work due to it's inability to scroll. Adds are so distracting you loose your train of thought of what God is trying to show you. What a waste. I wish there was a zero star that's what bible gateway is worth now.

Tip for consumers:
I will uninstall Bible Gateway.

I'm trying to contact Bible gateway. I joined the $19.99 yearly subscription and in order to get answers to my question I have to pay another dollar just to talk to somebody. I've never come across anything like this! This is literally ridiculous.

Endless Temu ads with malware tracking attempts. My blocker catches, but have to delete nearly 100 from cookies and cache every time. Temu uses forced labor from persecuted Christian prisoners in Chinese concentration camps. Why is Bible Gateway sponsoring these ungodly ads?

Great content but poor utility for the app.It used to be good but you made updates a while back. The app now cuts out numerous times while using it. It also locks up quite often. I deleted and bought it again three times. But, the same things keep happening. Also, you scroll to find a scripture and it doesn't always go to the one you want. For example, it has a problem in the audio going for I John 4 to I John 5. It skips and starting on 2 John 1. Plus, every time you open the app the ads pop up and they are irriating. Please fix the app.

BibleGateway is a very very good site and I think it is the best site to read the Holy Bible while at church. You only need to type the books, chapter's number and verse's number(eg Matthew 11:24 or Matthew 11 24), the Google would take you to a page where you see BibleGateway is one of on the top. Unlike other Bible sites which immediately show multiple version, full chapter and verses which sometimes confusing and take times and you can't continue to read to the next chapters unless you type it again and that's a bit of hassle, while BibleGateway take you directly and specifically to the chapter or verse your lookin for, of course you will only see New International Version without any version like King James, NRSV, etc. taking up all over the space and also u can expand to the next chapters and verses if you want to. Also the other sites look like a regular non-Biblical sites with verses arranged vertically while BibleGateway looks exactly like conventional Bible but is much more practical and easy to use. Using conventional Bible is no different with use a non-BibleGateway sites, Conventional Bible is even more easy to use than other sites. So BibleGateway is a very good Biblical sites for those who want more practical and easy use but still feel like conventional Bible. I have recommended BibleGateway to my friends and they love it too. I myself started use BibleGateway 2 years ago. I've been familiar with e-Bibles and Bible sites for a long time but I preferred a conventional Bible rather than an e-Bible or Bible site or that didn't match the Bible I had. There are many Bible sites but in a very different style from the conventional Bible. But when I started using the BibleGateway, I like it so much. BibleGateway has some versions and so many languages from around the world. But if you are an American New International Version will always show up first. Maybe due to Google's algorithm. I also recommended BibleGateway if you are an English speaker. BibleGateway also has Bible app on App store and Play store, but I prefer the web's version cuz I'm used to use Google as my Bible and read and download Bible's pages. So I no longer carried the conventional Bible, only my phone. Some elder sometimes ask me why I don't use conventional Bible, I told em that the Bible on my phone is no different with their Bible. There was an oldman(I'm 23yo btw) he is much older than mr but actually he is my church friend. He told me that my Bible on my phone is not the real Bible and that it also can distract my focus. I said to him That "I just take the advantage of technology like you do, the Bible original forms is papyrus scrolls written and copied by hand and that was before the paper and printing technology we use today was invened." He replied "Okay... You got me young man"... LoL... Sorry for the very very long review. Hope someone would read this, if none then it is okay... God Bless You and God Bless the USA

Tip for consumers:
If you are used to read conventional Bible New International Version and want more practical and easy use, lemme tell you that BibleGateway is very fit with you.

I stumbled across an ad for chumba casino. In the word it says to watch the gambling. In the word it says to love your neighbor. Is it really helpful to post verses with malign intent?

I love using Bible Gateway! Although, I do miss the most popular paraphrase, the Living Bible: as a paraphrase, it has a legitimate and beneficial place. It is disturbing still that Bible Gateway sadly removed the paraphrase from the available selection of versions and paraphrases. Miss it still.

A far more beneficial alternative would be to make even more obvious that the paraphrase is a paraphrase, and, somewhere obvious near the drop-down, selection list of versions, to concisely and simply explain the difference between a paraphrase and translation.

I have not used paid versions of Bible Gateway at this point. And I have not used the app. I have appreciated the publicly accessible aspects of Bible Gateway. Very useful. Thank you, Bible Gateway and financial contributors to Bible Gateway, for economically inclusively maintaining that access despite the financial costs. Many people are economically unable to pay for access to such resources.

Some Reviewers here who are exasperated by the ads that they see while using the website don't realize how corporate ads on the internet generally work.

First, without the ads, Bible Gateway's website might not be able to afford to run at all!

Secondly, it's extremely unlikely that Bible Gateway is the source that chooses the -- system slowing, function diminishing, distracting, focus destroying, and in some cases objectionable -- ads that those reviewers and other users are unfortunately inundated with.

For example, even the Reviewers' own "operating system" may be a source of the ads. If the understandably exasperated Reviewers use devices that run the Google Chrome operating system and the Reviewers use a Google Account, they can have "some" - limited - choice about which categories of ads they most want to see less of. People who use Apple, Microsoft, or other operating systems likely have more effective options for avoiding the ads.

To reduce the number of ads, while using this website or the rest of the internet, exasperated Reviewers may prefer to try using free, effective ad blocker extensions or other software compatible with their devices' operating system/s. That's not a completely reliable measure though. One reason is that for up to date effectiveness, ad blocking extensions likely will need to be updated, swapped, and replaced continuously. Many internet users will need help with that, especially if they economically cannot pay for related expertise, services, up to date devices, or powerful enough internet access subscriptions.

It's mid 2022 as I write this and Google Chrome and its operating system have become antagonistic toward ad blocking extensions, because Google Chrome's model of business relies directly on providing paying corporations with advertising opportunities. Google Chrome generates sales and profit that way. So Google Chrome now technologically prevents ad blocking extensions from being as effective as some of them were able to be in the past.

Google Chrome's decision is a sadly exclusionary and highly ableist approach that erects impossible barriers everyday for millions of North Americans, of most ages, who have one or more of many brain affecting conditions.

In the conflicts between advertising corporations and human beings (regardless how much or whether they use the internet), including the ads inundated, exasperated users of the Bible Gateway site, Google is firmly on the side of corporations and unfettered profit.

There are likely paid versions of software, too, that can more effectively block ads for many of those internet users who know about them, or who are economically able to pay someone who does know about them, and to pay (for large enough devices, operating systems, programs, subscriptions, and ISP subscriptions that are all always current), so that their security features and any ad blocking opportunities can be kept up to date automatically.

But, again, the source of most of the frustrating troubles for the Reviewers and other users who are inundated with ads while trying to use Bible Gateway is likely NOT Bible Gateway!

(I do not work for Bible Gateway.)

Want to read the Bible? Go to Catholic Mass (The Lamb's Supper) where Scripture is read to you everyday with purpose and truth; and you receive The Eucharist, Jesus Christ's Real Presence on earth (for which is there is NO substitute). Also, Our Blessed Mother Mary is for everyone (not just Catholics), but it is the Catholic Church that teaches and fully participates in Marian devotion (not worship that is only reserved for Jesus Christ). Mary knows and loves Jesus Christ better than any of us ever could - she teaches us how to come to, learn about, love, and follow her son... Our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ.

Bible Gateway let's you copy a passage from the Bible, but then scrambles the text when you paste it. I feel like that is not spreading what Jesus would want because, what, they want credit? I will not use Bible Gateway.

I am a user of Bible Gateway for 1 year now and all I can see that is happening with this application is that they only care about the money now. Bible Gateway is not the application I used to know. I continued my subscription and then I had an issue with the application (I couldn't start it for some reason, or when I could, a black screen popped up), I contacted their customer service and waited for 3 weeks for my issue to be resolved. 3 WEEKS! They didn't forget to take my money in a second, by the way...

The customer service NEEDS to be more focused on the clients!

Thank you, financial supporters of Bible Gateway's great, beneficial resource!

Because of you, your economically inclusive policies, the people who contribute prayer to your endeavour, and Bible Gateway's financial supporters, people like me are able to use Bible Gateway's free of charge options (to which some people must restrict themselves). I feel so grateful. I use Bible Gateway frequently and love using it.

Using Bible Gateway makes a difference in my life. Comparing passages in a variety of translations can be helpful and insightful. The bible, God's word to us, is edifying, vitally nourishing, strengthening, wisdom imparting, guiding, and refreshing for new testament believers.

New testament christians have (less a religion than) a relationship.

We can communicate to God, through the gifts of Christ and the Holy Spirit, in a variety of ways. Likewise, God, including through Christ and the Holy Spirit, communicates to believers and other human beings in a variety of ways. The bible, the "Word," is a vital one. So, that we as believers listen continuously to God through the Word is a necessity. That's because relationships require and benefit from communication.

Bible Gateway, even for people who are not able to support it financially, brings so much more accessibility to readers of the bible and to those who treasure the bible as our Creator's communication to us.

Thank you, financial supporters of Bible Gateway for enabling and permitting this access -- to even those people who are unable to contribute financially.

May your financial support and economically inclusive policies at Bible Gateway enable light for many currently unsaved people, and enable light for believers who treasure their communication from God, through the bible, the Word.

To the financial supporters of Bible Gateway and its economically inclusive policies, may all your own needs be met, and some of your wants too.

J

P.S. One day, I would like to be able to award Bible Gateway bonus points and more public recognition for being able to hopefully, eventually find some way to prevent at least the ads that are function-slowing, moving, popping up, and most distracting. Such ads can be barriers particularly for a huge portion of (at least) the North American population who have chronic conditions that affect brain function, including attention.

[EXAMPLES: Brain injuries, under-nutrition, malnutrition, autism spectrum conditions, attention deficit conditions, hyperactivity conditions, Alzheimer's, other dementia conditions, OCD or other obsessive or compulsive conditions, other "broken brain" conditions, physical and physiological pain conditions, psychological conditions, emotional conditions, partial illiteracy.

Plus chronic loads of toxins from the entire continent's insufficient laws regarding lead, cadmium, mercury, and other heavy metals, pesticides, and other toxins, from dirty food, apartment air, outdoor air pollutants, apartment dwellers' dryer sheets (which bake onto dryer drums and poison all the apartment dryers' tenants), apartment dryer sheet air, the persisting plague on renters whose homes are continuously filled with smoke of cigarettes, etc. of people outside their suites. ETC. Drug addictions.]

All those examples, and more, are reminders that MANY North Americans have chronic conditions that strongly affect brain function, including attention! (Governments persistently prioritize corporations over the needs of people and planet.)

At Bible Gateway, like so many online places, the most distracting ads to which I referred can prevent some of those many kinds of people from the more effective access that people need.

Tip for consumers:
- I love using Bible Gateway! If you try it, you might too! Find some inspiration!
- The site offers almost any translation or paraphrase you would like!

- Even low income people, if they have internet access, up to date hardware, Etc,. are permitted to use this resource!

- Bible Gateway tries to keep much of the site economically inclusive. Very respectable.

Products used:
All the free of charge options.

- To financial supporters of Bible Gateway: Thank you for your economic inclusion! You make many people's world a better place!

I have used Bible Gateway for many years relying on it for daily meditation and reflection on Gods Word. While I appreciate and thank Bible Gateway for that. There are too many bugs. The new poop up adds keep going and never allow you to get back to the Bible..
