Viator is a Scam

Please DONT BOOK DUBAI TICKET via Viator website.

I am traveling from United States to explore Dubai and

Today I booked 5 people ticket for Burj Khalifa floor 124,125 & 148 and Viator charged my credit card for $845 since other companies charging for $220 or AED840 and i have attached the screenshot.

I didn't checked the other website ticket price before my booking and i didn't realized Viator charging in USD since website running in Dubai location and booking made at Dubai location.

I called the Viator customer care ************** and they disconnected my call 3 times finally they gave me Viator non working number *******856.

Finally i reached the number ************** and they explain once made the reservation i cannot change or cancel.

I lost my $600 USD within 10 min and please compare Dubai attractions ticket before booking through VIator.

I am not recommenting Viatot for any one.

I booked a tour for Spirit Island in Jasper, Alberta, Canada. The ticket in What's included section suggests Entry/Admission - Spirit Island (This is a small island 14 km away from lake Maligne and you need a boat cruise to reach the Spirit Island). But when we reached Maligne Lake the tour guide informed us that our booking does not include Spirit Island cruise. SO I am not sure why would Viator would mention Entry/Admission to Spirit Island on my ticket and on their website before booking the tour package. It's an additional 90 dollars wort expense on top of the actual tour that I booked with Viator. I called Viator customer care, and they did not care much, they asked me to book the cruise ticket directly on the venue. When I told them that this was included in my ticket which is printed on my ticket that I will get entry and admission on Spirit Island. They just said that they cannot do anything now. And repeated the same line that I would have to book my cruise ticket directly on the venue if I wanted to visit Spirit Island. They cheated with what's included section and it's a scam. I wish I read all the reviews earlier. But people please be aware and run away from this website. Their website will show you attractive prices and, they will mention things in the description and print them on the tickets. And you will believe on what mentioned on the ticket but in reality, you will not get what you are promised. And you will end up wasting your money and spoiling your mood for the rest of the day and not enjoying the trip at all. ITS A SCAM. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM VAITOR.

Viator's Glacier Day Tour
July 5, 2022

The tour company Viator should have informed customers the tour will only take you to Discover Center, not including the glacier ahead of time. There is very limited cell phone signal.
Our family of three booked the "Columbia Icefield Tour including the Glacier Skywalk from Calgary" from Viator.com. When we arrived at the pickup location Delta Downtown Hotel, tour guide Mark informed us that the tour includes Discovery Center but not the Glacier. However, he offered no help on how to purchase additional ticket to the Glacier. When we were searching for the ticket to the Glacier on the road, he told us the cell phone signal would go out in few minutes. My family were in a hurry to buy online but were unable to complete transaction before signal went out. When we arrived at the center, he asked us to buy Skywalk ticket only (the ticket was sold in either a combo of Glacier and Skywalk or Skywalk only) because we must return by 3 pm. We were not happy but we listened to him. When we returned to parking lot at 3 pm, we found Mark was looking for a missing guest. The group were not able to leave the parking lot until 5 pm. So, we would have made it back to the group even if we had bought the 3 pm combo ticket. In a hindsight, Mark did not handle it well because he told us that he could skip other attractions such as Bow Lake and Peyto Lake, and directly go to Discovery Center as needed. He explained that the tour could get to the lakes as it returned on the same route. But he did not do so. If the group arrived in the center early, we would have enough time to complete both attractions. Mark offered no assistant in helping us to purchase the tickets either online or at the center is a shame of him. Also he waited until we were already on the road to inform us about cell phone signal being out was his fault because he knew buying ticket requires cell phone service. The company Viator should have emphasized the tour takes guests to Discovery Center ONLY not the Glacier attraction because the title of "Glacier Skywalk" is misleading.

This is the most unprofessional company I have even dealt with! I called this company on 2/28/23 prior to booking a tour/excursion in Puerto Rico to ask If my 1 year old was able to come with me. I was told by representatives that my child could in fact come with me but he just couldn't take part in the actual snorkeling side of the tour. I proceed to book this excursion 1 minutes after the phone call. Fast forward to 04/13/23 I arrive to said excursion at 7am after waking up at 4am and making a 3 hours drive only to be told that by Puerto Rico law babies under 3 could not be on boats. At that point I was taken off the boat with my child and was not able to take part in the excursion it is now 4/19/23 and I am still having to deal with this experience becuase this company is refusing to give me a refund because they can not "locate" the phone call where misinformation was given even though I called my mobile carrier and have the record of the phone call (which I sent to them) and somehow the call magically disappeared into thin air. This company is HORRIBLE be warned! I will never ever ever be doing business again with Viator or it's associates

Viator is a horrible company that does not fight for its clients when their contracted service provider (Discover) lies, scams and rips off their customers. Viator doesn't enforce quality, customer service nor a fair refund when services are not provided. Very disappointed! I plan to let as many people and sites know my utter dissatisfaction with this company.

Viator took our money up front and did not purchase tickets in time for the elevator ride to the summit (top floor) of the Eiffel Tower. On the day of the event, Discover guide (Viator's contracted third party company) attempted to buy the groups summit tickets. They were at capacity and the guide only purchased tickets for the second floor. She did not tell us until we were in the Eiffel Tower. She apologized and said the summit was down for maintenance and this happens all the time. LIE! I spoke with the elevator operator and he stated their haven't been any maintenance issues. It never shut down for maintenance. When we pried deeper on why she didn't tell us when she bought the tickets she had no answers for the group. She never gave us an opportunity to cancel or get a refund. Her only response was that she is the guide and only doing what she was told to do. She would not provide a phone number or point of contact for the group to complain or receive a refund. Also, the package included a 1.5 hour tour and we received 5 minutes only. She did not want to be around a group of 20 people that were ripped off knowing she and her company scammed us with no sign of remorse nor a plan for a refund.

My family of four spent $278 to ride an elevator to the summit of the Eiffel Tower. 2nd floor tickets are significantly cheaper at roughly $80 for our family. When I complained to Viator they refunded us $33. I explained how their math was wrong and requested another refund. This was declined. I will now call my credit card company to file fraud and will leave as many negative reviews as I can. This company will not cheat me or my family without repercussions.

Viator is scam, their goal is keeping your money without giving you a tour. I went through very painful experiences with Viator recently. We came all the way from Los Angeles to Auckland, NZ for a tour which booked on Viator website. But we lost this tour by all Viator's tour operators mistakes. I never judge Viator as scam, but I believe it after they refused refund my $432 tour money. Our tour started at 6:30am which was very clear on our tour tickets, but Viator's car threw us away before the tour started and counted us as no showing up, we were there 6:27am, 4 minutes before the tour time, but I didn't see any Cheeky KiWi car, I really doubt the car ever came to the place? I understand why the tour operators missed up my phone number? I believe they did this purposely, because I emailed the about my phone number correction, but they only called wrong number. Viator' website shows 24 hours customer support, but no body response my email but only email back asking me to pay them 668 NZ. I understand they didn't offer any customer support on their purpose too. Viator is so tricky talented. When they missed up Customers phone number, when they didn't respond customer's need, when they left before tour time( or never showed up), Viator counted their customers no showing up immediately. It's almost 100%chance they will get customer's full tour fee without providing entrance tickets and offering any service, what is fraud and scam! Of course, They will not give you refund because they planned this, they threw out their customers but keeping customers money 100%, stay away Viator who stolen your money without giving your tours, they never care about your time, your trip, your suffering, all they need is stealing your Whole tour money into Viator's pockets! Horrible, horrible!

Brunch/San Diego Harbor cruise
October 14, 2023

We booked this brunch cruise through Viator for a Saturday that started off with a pedestrian brunch that felt more like a Vegas buffet. Halfway through the meal we were still at the dock and noticed a group of workers huddled at the ramp going into the ship. There was some sort of malfunction with the ramp that the ship's crew announced would not detach from the ship, so the cruise portion of the experience would be canceled, followed by a flier that offered a rescheduled cruise. We are not from San Diego, so I contacted City Cruises the next week and requested a refund, they said that because the event was booked through Viator I would have to contact them for a refund, and so began the merry-go-round.
Viator said that I would have to call City Cruises to authorize a refund, which I did and was told that $99.00 was what they would return. I disagreed that the brunch was worth $170.00, let alone the disappointment not going for the cruise. I contacted Paypal and opened a dispute, which went nowhere, so I again contacted Viator to accept their offer and was rewarded with the runaround this company is so famous for. Multiple agents obviously reading from a script and even more ridiculous blather from "Supervisors" and we are still waiting over FOUR MONTHS for a refund! AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS. RATING THEM A "1" IS BEING OVERLY GENEROUS.

Don't book with them!
February 7, 2020

I've used Viator before several times and never had an issue. However, the issue I had this time and the treatment I received from Jennifer, one of the supervisors from customer service was enough that I won't ever use their services again. According to my original booking they were suppose to charge my card on a specific date, there was no indication that my card would be charged earlier. The booking even said "Your card will be charged in 8 days (on 02/07/2020)". They charged my card the day before without prior notification so I was unable to transfer money to my account in time and they cancelled my booking. When I called to ask if they could reinstate it they said I'd have to do the booking again but this time it was at a higher price. The excuse they were giving me was that the tour vendor raised the prices. However, when I called the vendor it was the same price as before! When I spoke to Jennifer, I asked her for an email or some contact information to a higher supervisor or corporate and she lied to me and said she didn't know any! How absurd! She said she couldn't do anything for me, and if I wanted to book solely with the vendor I should do that. She did not even try to assist me! It wasn't like I was asking for a cheaper price than what I was originally quoted, I just wanted to pay what they originally quoted me when I first booked the tour. It was their mistake they charged me ahead of time and cancelled my booking so why was I being penalized for it. Absolutely horrible customer service and behavior by Jennifer, a supervisor of the customer service department. I will never use Viator again, and I suggest others to book your tours elsewhere as well so that you don't have to deal with the trauma and heartache of spending 2 hours on a chat and a phone call trying to sort out an error on their part, and in the end be treated like you're not a valued customer. This tour was going to be the highlight of our trip and now it is absolutely ruined by Viator and Jennifer, a supervisor of the customer service department.

I booked a tour to Hierve el Agua through Viator while visiting Oaxaca. Because I was running out of time and I wanted to visit Mitla, I canceled that trip and booked another one which included both Hierve el agua and Mitla. The tour started and everything was going well and according to plan. Around noon, we got an update about the schedule: no mention was made about Mitla. I contacted the Tour Operator to inquire. They stated that as of that very same day (August 7,2022), Mitla would not open on Monday (and Tuesday). I asked why it wasn't indicated in the product description. They stated that an update was made but Viator was holding it up for 24-48 hours for verification. So, I bought a tour to visit two specific sites and got to visit only one of the two. The tour operator offered to take me for free to Mitla on another day. But it had to be starting on Wednesday August 10 which did not work for me as I was leaving Oaxaca on Tuesday August 9th. Because I did not get to visit one of the two announced sites and also because I was not warned of this change before I got on the van, I asked for a partial refund.

Viator denied my request with a template email. I replied providing proof that I was never offered information about Mitla being closed on Monday. That information included also a review on Viator where another traveler complains about unannounced changes to the schedule. Viator still took the tour operator side and denied my appeal.

This is pure dishonesty from both the tour operator and Viator. For me, lesson learned: I will never support Viator nor Trip Advisor as both are the same company.

Don not trust Viator
April 30, 2023

Do not trust Viator!

They will not do anything at all to help you if you get ripped off by one of their tout listings, they will not even respond to you.

We booked several excursions for our family vacation in France through Viator, and when we had customer service issues and were not provided the services as described, Viator did absolutely nothing about it. Did not ever reply to us!

We spent over $1,500 for a Private, Guided tour of three castles in the Loire Valley.

The listing says specifically "Professional Guide" The reviews all talk about how knowledgeable the guide was, and how much information he had for them. For our trip there was no guide at all. I asked the drive if he would tell us about the valley and the castles before we arrived, and he said "I am not a guide, I am only a driver" He said he did not know where the guide was who usually rides with him!? So we drove for 2 1/2 hours to the castles in Silence!

We told Viator this is false advertising. The listing says specifically Professional Guide. We were not given the one main element of the trip we paid for.

Viator and the tour company did not even respond to us. We emailed, called and reviewed the company, no response at all. Viator completely let us down.

We also booked a Private Van to shuttle us from the airport to our hotel. They ended up leaving us standing in the airport for 90 minutes waiting. Every single other person on the plane had been picked up by the dozens of shuttle drivers waiting at the airport. We were the last group of people by far. So, it could not have been the traffic.

We called the company multiple times while we were waiting at the airport. They had forgotten about us. They sent a taxi instead, and he said he could not fit us. He said to us "I will be right back" Then literally walked out of the airport and just left. So, we had to call again and ask where is our private van we paid for?! So, we had to sit and wait and after 6 or 7 phone calls and 90 minutes later a van finally came. Isn't that a great way to start your vacation, after a 10 hour flight? You try to book reliable transportation for your family and end up with a headache trying to get to your hotel.

We ask for a partial refund. No response from the company and Nothing at all from Viator.

Viator will not help you if you have any issues with their listings. Even blatantly false advertising, they do not care and will not advocate on your behalf. The tour companies listing their services on Viator are their customers whom they make money from, not you.

Do not trust Viator!
