I was at a loss as to where to get an antique book from Japan evaluated when I learned of ValueMyStuff. Their evaluator clearly was very knowledgeable and took the time to write much more extensive comments about my object than I ever expected. In fact, one of the details I was given caused a buyer to buy it almost immediately! I was very impressed by this service and expect use it again soon.
I still have a question regarding the value. Will the wicker need to be repaired in order to be the quoted value
I would say very user friendly. I know there are many details/nuances on items that need to be appraised -- I am new to this experience so I left out a few details that could have helped streamline the process. With a quick reply the team helped me get the most out of my request! Thank you!
Cheers,
Charles
Very clever and efficient service. I think it links the right experts with the people from around the world to gain insightful knowledge about their pieces of art, treasures or antiques.
I was fractionally doubtful at the moment of engaging their services, however all of it was gone very quickly due to their prompt replies, their realistic prognosis on what they can deliver, what is unachievable and the timeline they would deliver the results.
My dreams about my object were cleared. Thank you very much from New Zealand.
If all I needed to do was Google the Internet to see the value of my antique paintings I would have done so and saved myself the fee. He called them new replicas when clearly they have been in their frames for a very very long time. I will take them to a legitimate art dealer where I can get a more detailed and accurate appraisal.
In addition to valuing my items professionally, with valuable and reliable information that I have learned I can trust, their service is personalized in the way that they have taken care of me. They obviously value every customer personally, and want every customer highly satisfied and pleased. I felt as if I was working with them in person as opposed to online, and that they really cared about what they were doing for me, which made all our business very pleasurable.
We have a antique shop and your service has added great value to help us with pricing. Half the battle and getting a full and accurate description of the item with some history. The last few appraisals have come in much lower then our sold price. Some of that could be due to low comps or a rapidly changing market.
ValueMyStuff gave me an idea of how valuable others might find my 'treasures'. They are knowledgeable, pleasant and quick. ValueMyStuff looks at each item independently, not one relative to entire estate. I found the experts just that, and that they actually enjoy what they are doing.
This is a wonderful service. Item per item. Pleasant and efficient.
Thank you for your lovely review, Robin, and we hope that we can continue to be of service to you in the future!
I've had 55 items valued over the past 3 years and have been pleased with every report. Customer service is kind and responsive to any question or concern I've had. I've worked with 5 different experts for the various categories of items I submitted. Each expert was knowledgeable and I often received helpful advice and interesting information.
Thank you for your kind words Dan!
For $28 I got a value. That's it: no evidence there was any real work done, nothing to give to, say, an insurance company, no discussion of how they came to their conclusion, no comparables, nothing. The "certificate" you get is 6 pages of reminders of how you may not use or rely on it. Essentially 6 pages of how $28 gets you what you pay for.
Appraiser did not take the time to attempt to discern the partial Maker Mark, therefore, could not properly evaluate the item.
This appraisal is a total scam I sent my pics, receipt and all pertinent info on a clarinet the receipt is over a year old and for $2245 the appraisal came back stating this item is worth between $2,000 and $3,000 WHAT?! I was paying for an actual appraisal then they tried to link me to an auction --all the reviews are 1 star except two which are obviously fake! Don't waste your time or money! I called and emailed no response!
Luckily I am getting my $15 bucks back through my cc company because I filed a scam complaint. :)
Dear Antoinette,
We are sorry you were not happy with your valuations if you would like to contact info@valuemystuff.com or ring the office someone would be happy to help you, unfortunately I can not see a record of you previously attempting to contact us.
Our service supplies auction market estimates which is why we valued your piece between $2000 to $3000, retail prices can often be higher - I would suggest looking at the insurance value though as I dont have access to your account can not comment further. If you have further concerns please feel free to contact info@valuemystuff.com attention Sarah with your customer number and I would be more than happy to assist you.
Very Best,
ValueMyStuff
I specifically mentioned that the base of an item was made of brass. By a picture, the appraiser insisted that it is wood. I asked for a redetermination. It was late and unchanged. The manager who monitors the mailbox was indifferent. She suggested I take it somewhere in person. No apologies for my time or cost.
The information I've provided has been reiterated, and having a report written with the money I paid is disappointing. I'm aware that this product is not listed. If it's not listed, I do not accept the conditions under which a price was set for this product. I'm looking for a more satisfactory response.
Please also provide me with the prices of similar coins that were sold during the same emperor's era. If there are no coins from this emperor's period, I would like to know how this fee was determined. I'm awaiting your response to this question.
Thank you for leaving your feedback Ilker.
As per our appraisal, as well as the private email correspondence, during the appraisal process our specialist searched for similar coins sold, but was unable to find any. We confirmed this in response to your email. I am afraid posting the question in a negative review will not change the fact there are no sales results for similar coins sold recently at auction.
Instead, our specialist has used his many years experience to determine the value he believes the coin will sell for at public auction. With no comparible sales results available, our specialists rely on their considerable expertise and knowledge of the market to make their appraisals. All of our specialists have many years experience, on which our clients rely to appraise their items.
While we appreciate your frustration, leaving a negative review will not change the fact there are no sales results available for your coin. It is of course up to you whether or not you accept our expertise in this matter.

I have submitted several antique items for appraisal and I have been quite satisfied and will continue to use Value My Stuff.
I was disappointed that the signed and dated signature on my lamp did not add more value. Granted it could have been a forgery but I used light from this lamp until we got electricity in 1947.
Thank you for your positive feedback.
We look forward to being of future service to you.

I have toted these dishes around for years being very careful knowing in my heart they had very little value. Now I know.
It would be nice if you could also add a retail value in your categories. As auctions price is usually lower than retail, and insurance is usually higher. When looking for an appraisal, I'm more interested in finding out what my item is worth on the retail market. Auction price is good, if by some chance I get lucky enough to find a really valuable item that would sell for more in an auction.
I just guessing most people looking for an appraisal, are looking for retail value
Thank you for your review Debbie.
We consider the insurance value, which is included in every report, to be the retail value, as this is the private replacement value of the item, rather than the estimates for public auction.
The insurance value is always higher than the auction estimates, as these can of course be far exceeded during the right sale, on the right day.
We are sorry to hear not all of your questions were answered. Please do always contact us at Info@valuemystuff.com if we may be of any further assistance.

The only hard part was moving the heavy sofa to get a picture of the back. I had an old settee with a hand-carved wooden frame that a relative thought might be very valuable. I wanted to get rid of it, but didn't know whether to auction it or give it away. Turns out it was worth very little. I'm giving it away and making room for more comfortable, practical furniture.
Thank you for your feedback Ann.
Thank you also for going to the trouble to move your sofa. The more images taken from as many angles as possible for our specialists to view, the more accurate the appraisal will be.

Very pleased so far... all of my items are for insurance purposes. I want to know what it will cost me to find the exact same item if lost! Which is very expensive... i just wish they could find me a buyer who will pay what they say its worth?
Thank you for your positive feedback Michael.
Many of our clients use our service for insurance purposes. We are delighted to be of service to you.

Very easy web-site perfect so far...
I received my appraisal quick. The timeframe for the piece was suggested to be 1970 (with a question mark). This painting has been in the family since the 1940, so a little off. Only wish I could of identified the artist, but other than that, it was a good experience.
I found that from the very beginning, the Value My Stuff website clearly explained the three easy steps at requesting a valuation. The basic information requested from me, as well as photographic images were an easy matter to undertake; the website is one of the easiest to work through. Most surprising was the expeditious manner in which my request for valuation was handled, and the results returned to me. Overall a most satisfying result from this highly professional and skilled company.
Expeditious, completely reliable and highly professional valuation completed

Thank you for your kind words, Adele, we love working with you too.
Auction estimates will always be lower than private sales values, but can of course be exceeded during the sale.
We recommend using the insurance value when making a private sale.
