The company has garnered significant criticism for its customer service, with many customers expressing frustration over the lack of responsive support and difficulties in obtaining refunds. Common complaints include billing issues, inadequate communication, and a perceived lack of accountability for damages caused by sitters. While some users reported positive experiences with sitters, the overall sentiment reflects a sense of disappointment and mistrust, particularly among sitters who feel exploited by the fee structure. The company appears to prioritize marketing efforts over customer satisfaction, leading to a growing perception of unprofessionalism and dissatisfaction among users.

Trusted Housesitters is a godsend for pet and home owners. It allows us to travel without worry, knowing that our pets and home will be well cared for in our absence. The web site is easy to navigate and we have always been delighted with the house sitters we have found there. We also enjoy doing housesits found at the site. Support for members is top notch. I can't recommend Trusted Housesitters highly enough! They are great!
Trusted House Sitters helps make it possible for us to go on vacation. We've travelled all over the world because they provide us with top quality people who care for our pets and home.
I've used THS 3 times now, and have been very impressed with the consistent thoughtfulness of each sitter, and their thorough attentiveness to detail. In particular how the sitters kept in touch while I was traveling, reassuring me that all was well at home! I give much credit to the way THS screens and holds a high standard of service for all sitters. I had a couple of questions when starting out on the site, and THS customer service handled my questions and concerns with the same thoughtfulness and thorough follow through that has come to be expected with the sitters. I highly recommend this service! It's also a great way to meet people from around the world!
Have used this service twice. Both times we received 5 star sitters who have left our home in good shape and our cat exhausted for attention. Have booked a 3rd sitter and will continue to use this service.
Now that we're retired, we're traveling a lot more than we did... but leaving our house, and our sweet but skittish cat, for lengthy periods of time was a real challenge. Friends in a similar situation then told us about TrustedHousesitters.com. We've used them to line up sitters for two holidays now (one for two weeks, another for almost a month), and have had nothing but a great experience. Our sitters have taken care of our home and pet as if they were their own. Highly recommended!
We had very positive and wonderful interactions with our sitter! Hopefully we will be as lucky to find other sitters, if our lady cannot accommodate us to watch over our pets. I have read some of the reviews, and yes it is quite scary if you have made plans and a "no show" happens. We would certainly be mortified! There should be an area that you could go to on the site and let others know of this person who does a "no show". I am sorry to those of you who have had that bad experience.
This website has changed my life! I used to stress and worry about leaving my dogs when I wanted to travel but I have found so many really lovely people through this site. They have taken wonderful care of my pups and house. My sitters seem to have enjoyed the experience also, so it is a win-win.
For many years, We did house exchanges around the world. Recently, we adopted a dog. Now, what to do when we travel? Having someone stay in your home is quite costly. Our dog is a rescue. We hesitate to board him. What a relief to find TrustedHousesitters! We have used the service twice so far and have been very satisfied. We will keep up with both sitters!
Since becoming a member in January, 2019, my wife and I have been able to seamlessly travel without worry knowing our two dogs and home are in good hands. Trusted Housesitters is a reliable source for finding "strangers" whom you can trust to care for your pets and homes while you get to step away from your everyday life, for whatever reason it may be. I have already used Trusted Housesitters 6 times in 2019 and have 3 sitters confirmed for 2020.
We have used TrustedHouseSitters several times and have always been able to find great sitters. It is so nice to be able to travel knowing that we are trusting our cat and home to sitters that care for our home as they would their own.
We like to travel but we love our dogs too. We have used sitters from TrustedHouseSitters.com five times and each time has been a success.
I've been using THS for almost a year, and every sitter has been fantastic. The people that apply to housesit are obviously animal lovers, and I haven't had a bad experience. I have recommended the company to many colleagues.
Trusted Housesitters has allowed us the freedom to travel while knowing that our pets are comfortable in their home, not lonely, and being well cared for. We've been using the service for over 2 years, and we have met so many amazing people who love taking care of our animals. Simply post your dates of travel and review all of the applications you receive, picking the sitter you feel most comfortable with. We have continued relationships with several of our pet sitters. I would highly recommend this service to anyone who likes to travel who has pets. You can now travel with peace of mind.
I was unsure if I could trust the service of trusted house sitters. But we went on vacation for two weeks and the sitters we picked were amazing. I still can't believe we saved $800 on kennel costs. This service was $100 and we're going to get 2-3 sits a year for that. That's a savings of approximately $1500 a year. It's amazing. I'm so happy I found this service. Pups were happy to stay home too and our plants were watered! Win win.
My husband and I are digital nomads and we are having a great time traveling with TrustedHouseSitters!
We have really enjoyed our housesits obtained through TrustedHouseSitters, meeting many interesting people and lots of lovely pets. To try and avoid potential communication problems, we apply to housesits where the home owners have a detailed profile so that we get a feel for them and their expectations. Positive references from previous sitters reassures us that we are heading into a good situation, and finally we have a Skype or phone call so both parties have confidence that we are a fit. Even with these assurances, we realize some sits might prove less than ideal for both sides. In order to lessen the possibility of problems, TrustedHouseSitters might recommend that homeowners provide detailed profiles and references. As evidenced in some of the reviews, they also need to address the issue of no-shows on the parts of housesitters with some kind of notation on their profiles, as well as provide better customer service if people are going to continue to have trust in TrustedHouseSitters.
I've been completely impressed with Trusted Housesitters and highly recommended them. They allowed me to spend an amazing week in NYC while also having the companionship of a sweet dog. They make communicating easy and I felt comfortable with the various stages in the process. I've used the service as house/petsitter and I've found a trusted sitter to take care of my animals, too through the website.
We have housesat on TH for the past 3 years and have nothing but good things to say. Understandably not every sit is going to be perfect but out of the 10-12 sits that we've done (and repeated) we've had very good experiences at each one.
If you're a homeowner I'm sure this is an excellent service - skip boarding costs and take your pick of eager-to-please animal-lovers offering to take care of your pets. As a sitter, however, I think it's pretty obscene that you have to pay for the honour of trying to sell yourself (as the site recommends, "tell them why you'd be perfect for this sit!") to dozens of homeowners only to be declined, days to weeks later, without any communication or basic acknowledgment that you, a human being, took time over your message and might have plans of your own to think about. Bottom line is there are way more sitters than there are homes, and the entire system operates on the unpaid labour of people who can't afford to pay for private accommodation. Sitters should not be charged, or, at the very least, should be refunded having tried the service if they have not secured a sit.
The idea is not common in the American online community, but I love the idea of an exchange based on trusted (a word that is in their name). Because it costs money to join and is based mostly on trust and personal contact, the site seems to self-select for people who believe in their word. Of course there will be exceptions, but our experience has been good. Also they do not try to police off-site contact, like Airbnb and other sites that make money by serving as intermediaries.
Answer: Fees are an annual membership for both homeowner and pet sitters (approx $120). With thousands of members, I've not had any problem finding a sitter.
Answer: Hi Jim, when house sitting it is expected that you will take care of your own cooking, etc. You will have full use of the homeowners kitchen facilities. We hope this helps. TrustedTeam
Answer: Yes. It depends on where you live but this couple is beyond question the best and dependable and honest. Debbie and Wil Wilburn. debbieandwillwilburn@gmail.com Please give my name: Fluffy's mom
Answer: Your accommodations are free. You still have to get there on your own. Since accommodations are often the biggest expense of a trip, it is a great deal. Use code RAF270183 to get 25% off you annual membership fee.
Answer: Hi Caroline, Thank you for your question, forgive my delayed reply. If you haven't already contacted the Membership Services Team (https://support.trustedhousesitters.com/hc/en-gb) I would encourage you to do so and they will help you to get this resolved. Kind Regards, The TrustedHousesitters Team
Answer: Hi Sada, You'll be able to read reviews of the sitters on their profiles. If there isn't anything showing, then this indicates that the sitter doesn't have any reviews just yet. If there is something else that we can do to help, please do get in touch with Membership Services, and we'll be more than happy to speak with you further. Kind regards, The TrustedHousesitters Team
Hi Madeleine
Thanks for leaving your review. However, I do find it necessary to challenge some of your comments.
Our site does not arrange unpaid labour. We host a platform where both homeowners and house sitters can connect and make mutually beneficial arrangements, giving them both freedom to travel and experience new places.
We have thousands of great housesitting opportunities on our site and we see great housesits being arranged every day.
Kind regards
Paul
