“This service is great for people like me who are mostly...”

Ruqayyah R.
2/10/15

This service is great for people like me who are mostly around some sort of wifi or dont use much data. I love that you use only what you pay for. Everything you do you can easily see with their app or on their website. If you are used to watching videos and movies on data, then this service isnt for you, but the rest of us talkers and texters, its awesome! We have 5 phones on the account and our bill is average 120 month. I was paying a little more than this on sprint, no data, 1500 min, and i had a 20% discount code from my job. You do have to buy your own phone, but the cost savings is huge for us. Plus we get to have smart phones unlike on sprint who was forcing us into an expensive data plan. They have opened their service up to phones from other services besides sprint now and i wholly recommend taking a good look at this service!

“Don't pay to "pre-order" fiber Internet”

Vanya W.
10/26/23

My husband pre-ordered fiber internet from them for $9 when we saw them laying fiber in our front yard. That was in early August. Now it's late October and their website still says fiber internet is coming "soon" (though won't say what "soon" means" and asks me for $9 to pre-order at the same address. That money went into a black hole, never to be seen or acknowledged again. And there is stil no internet available at any price.

I bought a simple flip phone from Ting as an inexpensive back-up phone. I turned off access to data on my account dashboard so that I wouldn't be charged for data I didn't intend to use. Ting advised this would deny my phone's access to data. They billed me for data anyway, advising my phone consumed data on two occasions. Ting stopped responding to my inquiries (my last three emails went unanswered) and never rectified the overcharge posted to my credit card. I will be closing my account with them. Check out their BBB rating….a big fat F.

Update: Ting finally responded to me and credited the data charge to my account.

Tip for consumers:

I decided to switch to Ting because I thought parent company Tucows supported liberty more than TracFone does, but it was a mistake. Ting knowingly links to websites that are full of hate and bigotry. Ting employees don't even bother to care when you point out mistakes in their promotional emails. You must have an unlocked phone to use Ting. Otherwise, you can pay $50 to Ting for the same cheap flip phone you can get for $10-20 with TracFone. Forget about Ting now before you waste money like I did.

Getting started with Ting was a pretty good experience and generally the internet speed is beyond fast. They charged me twice last week for the service and trying to speak to someone is not in the cards. They don't answer, they don't respond, they don't call you back, they don't answer your texts.

Their Sim Card never worked right in my daughter's phone despite several attempts to resolve the issue. I canceled the service, and confirmed with them I wouldn't be billed further, but they continued billing me after the service was canceled, and refused to refund the difference.

They received a single star, for their inexpensive cell phone plan...but that is all.

After filling out the application, I called the customer service line. Since they offer a plan with either T-Mobile or Verizon, I informed the service rep that I wish to have only the Verizon network. He sent out the SIM card.

I discovered that the SIM card was with the creepy and call dropping T-Mobile. When I called customer service, I spoke with some foreign gal. She would do nothing to helf me. Her explanation to fix this issue was convoluted. She told me I had to go to a Verizon office to fix this problem! I suggested she sent out another SIM card [Verizon] and fix this issue on her side. She refused and kept repeating her silly instructions, despite the fact, that Ting created this problem. She must have begun to get frustrated with me and hung up. Not only dat, eh disabled the service, resulting in me not have cell service.

I went to a Verizon store to fix this issue, however, they had no clue. The second Verizon store told me I had to go to a T-Slimball store, which I did, only to witness fourteen in line. I spent 1.5 hours running around, to fix a service issue they created.

I plugged in the old Verizon SIM card and had service again.

Folks, other than a cheap calling plan, this provider is not worth the price, as their customer service sucks = bigly. You would be well advised to find a finished and professional cell phone firm, because this one is not.

EDIT: This business does not give its address? It is a public-traded company on an American stock exchange. It is also an IT domain firm, like Go Daddy and Go Mama. They are a Canadian firm, located in Torontoe. Even on Google Map, their name is not list. One can not find the owner's name anywhere. Tucows, does not want its corporate name associated with Ting! This is rather bizarre and unbusiness like. Look for yourself, 96 Mowat Ave., Toronto, Canada.

Had I known these facts, I would never have had any contact with this entity.

Previously, I had a great inexpensive phone plan with TPO. When they stopped doing business in the USA they sent their customers to Ting, saying the company was similar in values and Ting sent promos saying how great they were. But ALL YOUR USEAGE IS METERED AND IT COSTS A FORTUNE TO USE THIS SERVICE. I kept their service for three months hoping to see an overall savings but the cost never came even close to my previous service. From month to month i paid 2,3 even 4 times as much with Ting. I am not a heavy user.
