CAUTIONARY POST ABOUT BUYING TICKETS FROM TICKETSALES.COM
February 5, 2025

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2/19/2025, My response to Maria: Maria, I have tried interacting with customer service ad nauseum before I wrote this review. It appears TicketSales.com takes the approach of copying/pasting a canned, concerned response. I feel this could lead potential customers to infer - Maybe it's OK...a misunderstanding happened...the company cares to make it right, right? What I want to say to those who are proactive and doing their research before becoming a customer is to look at their BBB rating. I feel it will be crystal clear what decision would be in their best interest.

2/19/2025, My response to TicketSales.com: My situation doesn't match the canned response. I was a one time, unintentional customer. I was not a fan, nor loyal. As I have tried to resolve my concerns directly with TicketSales.com, I feel I have just been met with what I would describe as "pleasant unhelpfulness". I do want to continue to find a way to address my concerns, including removing my personal information from your systems. But I feel my situation with your company has deteriorated to where I need to contact the BBB and Attorney General to find resolutions.

My Original Post:

THIS IS A CAUTIONARY POST ABOUT BUYING TICKETS FROM TICKETSALES.COM!
During the holidays, I purchased tickets from TicketSales.com for the St. Louis, MO Fox Theater showing of The Nutcracker. Initially, I thought I was on the Fox Theater website. But it was a TicketSales.com website that looked like the Fox website.
And on this website that looked like the Fox Theater website is where I ended up going down the rabbit hole with TicketSales.com. I purchased tickets, later finding out the tickets from TicketSales.com were 3-4 times higher than the price at the Fox. Additional charges for service and delivery fees of approximately $95 were added to my credit card. Currently, I have an unresolved credit card dispute with TicketSales.com.
And, after some research on TicketSales.com, I am even more appalled. TicktSales.com has a F rating with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). The BBB states that the volume of complaints filed with them are so high that they only publish the details for 25% of total filed complaints. Here is a copy straight from the BBB website listing a pattern of complaints:
Among BBB's complaint review was a concerning pattern of complaints alleging:
~Ticketsales.com does not always make it aware to consumers they are purchasing from third-party website instead of the venue website;
~misleads total amount of charges/fees, ticket acquisition, and refund policy until after purchase;
~ignored requests for assistance with tickets purchased that were never received;
~and moreover, ignored requests or no useful assistance from customer service.
After conducting a review of Ticketsales.com complaints opened within the past 12 months, BBB determined the allegations and overall pattern of complaints persist.

Following up on the BBB's finding of no useful assistance from customer service, I would like to share my experience. When I first became concerned about my ticket purchase, I tried contacting TicketSales.com. I have spent hours on their live chat feeling like I was in the Twilight Zone.

I want to share two of the exchanges I had with TicketSales.com on live chat to explain. The BBB had also previously asked two similar questions and did not get an adequate response either (reference BBB website).

Also, I want to preface that as frustrated as I was, my questions and responses were cordial. And, on a previous live chat with me before these exchanges, TicketSales.com had highlighted how transparency was important to their business.

So, here you go:

First of two exchanges I want to share: I asked on live chat who owned TicketSales.com. The response was that they could not tell me. I asked why not. The response was because it was for security reasons. No additional information was offered about why security was an issue. The security response makes no sense. I have never heard of a business needing to withhold who owns them for security reasons.

Second of two exchanges I want to share: I asked if they would share with me where their headquarters are located. They would not.

After these exchanges, I got an awful, sinking feeling. Yes, I have a problem with disputing the credit card charge amount. But now I have an even bigger concern. Based on my research and exchanges on live chat, I am now worried about having given my personal credit card information to TicketSales.com (and whoever owns them, wherever they are located).
PLEASE BE CAREFUL! I DO NOT WANT ANYONE ELSE TO GO THROUGH WHAT I AM GOING THROUGH WITH TICKETSALES.COM!

Tip for consumers:

I submitted my dispute through my credit card company about three weeks ago. And I have yet to hear back from TicketSales.com.

I would give ZERO stars if I could...RUN AWAY!
January 27, 2023

I was believing that I was buying from a reputable source. When I received the email asking me to review the tickets and accept, I reviewed and did NOT accept. However, when my "tickets" were delivered to my email 2 days before the event, I was kinda skeptical, because I hadn't accepted them! The email stated that I was in "Row O," as I had ordered. DUMB me, there IS NO ROW "O" in this venue.Thought I was ordering theater tickets to be in "The Golden Circle" (that's what I chose), unobstructed views and close to the stage. This is an IMPORTANT event for me (AND for my 83 yr old mother in law who is homebound and has a head injury, spent her last birthday in ICU). When I searched for our seats, found that there is NO row "O" at this venue (note to self, do a little research FIRST). So, looking at my tickets, I saw that I was given two tickets to "N row, seats 1 and 2." Looking at every single venue seating photos so I could see where my seats were (because I was skeptical), I could not find "seat 1 and 2" in "row N." I called the venue and verified that these seats do NOT exist. "Row N" has NO seats 1-6. I was trying to get seats close to the aisle for my mother in law. I called the number listed on the ticket, invalid number. I then looked online and read all the reviews about ticketsales.com and found that they are not listed in BBB, and if they were, would get a "Z" rating. More red flags. So, worried that we might not get to see the show at all, I bought two more tickets for the next day (from another vendor), better seats and CHEAPER, BTW).
I finally got in touch with a man at ticketsales.com, and tho he was polite, he flat refused to refund me. These were NOT the tickets I ordered! Even IF the seats exist, it isn't in "The Golden Circle," and probably have, at least, partially obstructed views. I would NOT have paid so much for seats that were not anything but fantastic. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS VENDOR! Lesson learned the VERY hard way, but I will spread this FAR and WIDE! Guaranteed.

Don't trust star rating, read reviews. The ones that aren't obviously by them
June 14, 2022

Goodness I miss Smithtix… it's the only way I've ever bought concert tickets until now but I was eager to get some as a surprise and since smithstix is unfortunately no longer a thing I just looked around online until poof I thought I could trust this site sooo. I bought tickets in April for a concert on June 13th for my boyfriends birthday. His favorite band Asking Alexandria was coming, what better gift than an experience! I got a text saying my tickets were emailed a few days before the show and I got into my email and downloaded the 'etickets' which include a note saying to 'ignore the incorrect name or price information on the tickets' the name listed on my tickets was Matthew Taylor. And the price was $38.00. My name is clearly printed in my emails so they knew the name was incorrect and $38 a piece is a ridiculous difference between the $180 I paid this site for the 2 tickets... but regardless. I'll show them the email and the tickets at the door if necessary so we go on anyway. The day of, we stopped at a restaurant for dinner on our way out to SLC for the show and my boyfriend pulled up the venue to see what time doors opened, the venue lists that Asking Alexandria. The headliner. Dropped off the tour and to check their socials for information. Twitter shows Asking Alexandria posted an apology explaining they won't be on this tour anymore as their vocalist has a throat infection. I never got any information from the ticket sales or venue about this change so now I'm in a panic because I've paid $180 for tickets to see Asking Alexandria and now they aren't even going to be there? We don't even know the 3 other warm up bands playing. And $180.00 for less than we agreed to is insane. So I called the company about a refund and explained the situation. The woman had me explain it to her 4 or 5 different times (she obviously couldn't understand and or hear me between the language barrier and what sounded like a household kitchen full of people in the background) and then basically told me I was S. O. L. And the company would not refund me because I did not pay for the added ticket insurance. Why would I need ticket insurance if the company wanted returning customers or added customers from reviews? Nothing spreads like word of mouth. Son they would do the right thing and take care of their people, right? Wrong. The woman could barely speak English and refused to send me to management or anyone else at all for that matter. Even AFTER I explained I would file fraud with my bank, the BBB, and attorney general. So I did just that. And I'm including a review EVERYWHERE I can in addition. Google reviews are clearly made by the company itself since all of their good reviews are from 'a reviewer' and are misspelled and worded like 'very eabsy' and simple minded short basic reviews. And I (a consistent review leaver as I believe companies deserve to be appreciated when they deserve it and people deserve to know when not to go somewhere as life is hard enough without the added scams and poor service when trying to spend the hard earned dollar) could NOT leave a Google review for them at all. So really Who's to say with this kind of service the tickets would have worked at all if we did go. Regardless this place is a SCAM. In the 24 hours since this incident I have learned ***Buy directly through the venue or wherever your venue has LINKED on their website! And I'll carry that with me for all future events. Learn from my mistake, DO NOT TRUST THIS WEBSITE!

Tip for consumers:

Don’t. Just don’t. Go to the venue and buy directly from them or who the venue has linked for tickets. Do not buy through 3rd party scammers. Buy from people who care about their customers and their satisfaction.

None. Filed for fraud. With the BBB, attorney General and leaving reviews EVERYWHERE.

Absolute Worst Customer Service Ever!
June 29, 2021

I have purchased tickets through ticketsales.com not intentionally but when trying to get tickets to the Avett Brothers at Red Rocks the AXS app redirected me to this 3rd party reseller. I should have paid closer attention to what was happening. I purchased these tickets in April 2021 & I was told the tickets wouldn't be released to me until July 8th 2021, two days before the show (I am traveling from out of state to this show & getting tickets two days before does not give a customer the warm and fuzzies that everything is going to be ok) I have called, emailed, live chatted with this company and I can not get an answer as to why these tickets aren't getting released to me. At first they said the tickets haven't been released from Red Rocks... but after calling Red Rocks that is absolutely not the case. I told this to the customer service agent. They told me well then the person hasn't released them and so I asked for them to contact the person reselling them. They said they have no information for the person selling them? What how is that even possible? That seems like total BS! I told the customer service agent that I was going to dispute this charge if i didn't get any answers and I was threatened by the agent basically saying they would make my life hell before they give my money back. I have purchased tickets through stubhub, vivid, and several other resale ticket platforms and have NEVER had these sort of issues and awful customer service. Oh and if you email them vs waiting to speak to someone for 35 min, they won't respond for 72hrs? Who does that? This company is such a scam & I am probably going to end up fighting for my $1200 back. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Tip for consumers:

Don't use this site!

DO NOT PURCHASE FROM HERE
January 16, 2021

I recently purchased tickets from this site (4 tickets for a total of $320.) The sale went through and I was able to receive my tickets through my Ticketmaster account the following day. 2 days before the event I logged back into my Ticketmaster account and clicked on the event and the tickets say "voided." I contacted Ticketmaster and they informed me that the tickets are voided likely because the seller requested a refund. How does that make any sense that the tickets I had already received into my account from the transfer had been voided? That's beyond me. I contacted the seller (tickets on sale) and spoke with Fernando at 10:30am the day before the event. He told me that they would try to resend the tickets but he wasn't sure if he'd be able to because they had already been sent and if I did not get them by 12pm the day of the event to contact them and if I still didn't have the tickets, they would refund the card the full amount. I called back the day before the event at 7:30pm and spoke with Joy. She was pleasant and helpful and asked me to screenshot what I was seeing on my Ticketmaster account and email it to them. I did this while we were on the phone and she informed me that they received the email and would contact the seller and resend the tickets to a different email account. She told me if I had not received the email with the tickets by 8am the day of the event to call back that morning. I still had not received the tickets and called at 8am and spoke with Joe. Joe was very assertive and rude and told me that everything was in process as of 1-2hrs ago despite the fact that I had called about the issue twice the day before. He told me there was nothing else either he or I could do and I could receive the tickets as late as 1-2hrs before the event. I called back right away because that timeline is unreasonable and spoke with Trish (phone call lasted 42min.) At the end of the conversation she informed me since the seller provided proof of transfer of tickets and there was an issue on Ticketmaster's end of things and I needed to contact them. I contacted Ticketmaster again (for the 3rd time) and they told me that the event is on my profile but there is a zero balance and zero tickets and I needed to contact the seller directly. I called tickets on sale again and spoke with David. I told David that I had been having issues and I needed to speak with management in order to resolve my problem. He informed me that management does not take phone calls but he is on the team of customer service escalation and would look into my situation. After being on hold for 15 minutes he hung up on me. I called back right away and spoke with Lewis. He was more helpful to an extent. I filled Lewis in on everything that was occurring and he asked the name of the representative that hung up on me and I told him. He apologized and assured me he would not keep me on hold that long and was going to speak to management directly about the issue. After several long holds, he told me that they have all the notes about what I had told them was going on. He told me that I needed to contact Ticketmaster and ask them why the tickets were voided. I told him that the would not release that information to me because 1- the tickets weren't purchased through them and 2- I was not the seller. He told me that the seller would then get into contact with Ticketmaster to find out the issue. I asked him why they had a 100% buyer guarantee if they don't honor that. I asked why Fernando told me I would be issued a refund if I did not receive my tickets before the event if that's not their policy. He told me that he's very sorry on behalf of the company and if it were up to him I'd get every penny back, but that's their policy and since the tickets were initially received and the seller provided proof of transfer that even though the tickets are voided and inaccessible, there's nothing he can do. Do NOT purchase tickets through this company. They will leave you running in circles trying to figure out how to get your tickets. I'm now out $320 and can't go to this event that was supposed to be a Christmas gift for my dad. Save yourself the time, money and headache and purchase through Ticketmaster directly and not this fraudulent company.

Tip for consumers:

Do NOT purchase from this company
