Protecting scammers

I recently booked my ticket with via.com after Skyscanner recommended them on their website. Little did I know I was entering 2 nightmares - dealing with via.com and dealing with Neil and Anastasja from Skyscanner's customer support who before even reading my email decided to side with their "travel agent".

Here's the story. Via.com auto-filled my passport issuer with the country I was booking the tickets from. This has been confirmed by Skyscanners support Anastasja when she tried to prove I am wrong here. Somehow she still managed to victim blame me for this mistake. As a digital nomad of 10 years, I booked hundreds of flights, and never ever did I make any mistake, up until now as the field was auto-filled and easy to overlook.

Just before I hit pay, I noticed a price change at the last minute, also not very obvious to people. But after trying to book with airlines whose website kept freezing I decided to pay the extra charge just to get this sorted.

Via.com didn't send a transactional email but a personal email with my ticket. All this started to be super suspicious and this is when I decided to cancel the ticket and get a refund so I could book with a trustworthy provider.

I booked these tickets with a company card that I haven't used in months and only used twice before. Within an hour of booking with Via.com I started to receive emails to authorize the payments that I hadn't made. Clearly, these phishing attempts were coming from Via.com. I brought this up with Skyscanner too.

Skyscanner didn't listen at all, I spent a week talking to Neil who ignored all my concerns and ignored my wish to cancel the flights. Neil decided I was in the wrong and only believed Via.com. He thought Via.com tried to fix my wrong nationality on the ticket and that's my only problem here. Completely disregarding the rest. I asked to speak to his supervisor and here is where entitled Anatasja comes in. Not a supervisor by her email signature so clearly just a try to get rid of me by another basic worker. No further communication from them, possibly because I was 7 days before the travel, had to buy another ticket as the first one still had wrong details on it, spent a whole week dealing with this and ultimately, lost my temper on the incompetency and lack of empathy from Skyscanner.

Beware of who you choose to book with. I 100% trusted Skyscanner wouldn't work with scammers but here they are, not caring at all for the people losing their money because their greed.

Skyscanner support scammer travel agencies

Hello,

I have a very bad experience with buying of flight tickets through Skyscanner and it is because they sell tickets by scammers. They don't try to manage to offer tickets by good travel agency, for them important is only the commision that they would receive buy them, but not the quality of the service and happy customers at the end!

What is exactly my issue?

I am really very disappointed also from GotoGate service. I really don't know how it is legitimate company and how Skyscanner works with them at all. They don't care for their customers at all, they are really scam.

My flight is from Sofia to Manila on 13.03.23, for two passengers. I've added a Flexible ticket option because I know that maybe I would need a flight change and I've needed to change the flight date to be on 9.03.23 and the destination to be to Cebu. I called Gotogate Call Center on 14.02.23 and asked them for this change. And they said me that there is not a problem for this change, they will do it and I have to pay additionally 456£ for both passengers for the price differences of the flights. They sent me a payment link for the payment and I paid it immediately. I've received a confirmation mail for the payment but no confirmation mail for the changed flights. I have called Gotogate two days later on 16.02.23 to check if everything is okay and they said me that Turkish Aitrline rejected their request for changing the date and the destination of my flight I have to pay additionally 314£ for this change to be completed. I am very disappointed that they expect to pay additionally 314£ as I already agreed for the price change and if I known that the price would be so high, I have never done this change. I would say this is really a crime. They could say me several times that I have to pay more and more, how I could be sure if I agree and pay now again this 314£ that they would not say me that I have to pay more after that for the completion? Additionally I have called Turkish Airline and they said me that Gotogate has never requested them for changing of date and destination of my flight. So Gotogate are liying and this is a trick to steal money illegally. On top of that Gotogate also said that Turkish Airline cancelled my original flight on 13.03.23 from Sofia to Manila and if I would like to stay with it, I have to pay for it 319£ more. But Turkish Airline said me that they has not do any changes to my ticket. So now I either have not changed flight, nor I could go with my original flight and I already paid 456 pounds for all this. So this is absolutelly unacceptable, I am really disappointed, it's a real robbery and scam. I've asked Gotogate that I would like to escalate their scam somewhere and they created a ticket issue to his supervisor and said me he will support me for my issue and he will call me next 24 hours. But no response by him, I called them again and they said me he will call me after 48 hours, again no response. After that they said next 72 hours. And now 5 days later any call by anyone. And I don't know if I will fly at all, no tickets, nothing, I could not do any accommodations or internal flights booking.

Please never use Skyscanner and Gotogate!

Changing my name by deed poll
My daughter( who I haven't seen for four years) recently booked directly with skyscanner direct from Edinburgh to Melbourne and mistakenly put her mother's middle name on the booking( I don't have a middle name) we've notified skyscanner on four different occasions and despite their website saying the could/would make changes as long as it wasn't a different person they have refused to,
Blaming British airways (BA) I have contacted BA and a extremely helpful operator tried unsuccessfully despite speaking with various supervisors etc, they could not physically make these easy changes, they couldn't understand why skyscanner refused to despite there being no objections from BA.
SHAME ON YOU SKYSCANNER
I AM NOW IN THE PROCESS OF LEGALLY CHANGING MY NAME BY DEED POLL. It's a fraction of the cost of the air ticket ( as I can't afford to pay for another ticket)
I am in my 60s with failing health and am determined to make what might be my last overseas journey, but if changing my name to visit my daughter is what it takes so be it.
Skyscanner you are a DISGRACE, my vocabulary isn't extensive enough to say what I feel at this moment but god as my witness I'll be on this flight. Giving what's happening in the world at present I am positive that the local and national news outlets are going jump at this human interest story both here and in Australia and I fully expect to be greeted in Melbourne by hordes of flashing bulbs and TV cameras and I fully intend to notify as many as possible both here andin Australia. Can just see the headlines now

If this review prompts one person to rethink about booking SKYSCANNER then job done, but mark my word I fully intend this review to prompt 1000's of people to think before booking with skyscanner and do you know what it will be 100% worth changing my name for.

Worst flight experience ever

This has to be the worst flight experience and customer service I have ever had the displeasure of experiencing. Apparently, I'm far from the only one. Let's begin:

I had to attend a passport renewal at Ottawa in Ontario, Canada and decided to go with Skyscanner since they had a certain flight for a very good price. The renewal was scheduled for the end of July and I booked well in advance, way back in May.

Upon paying for the flight, I received a a confirmation email from Skyscanner saying that my flight had been booked successfully even providing itinerary documentation. Fast-forward to the 26th when I arrived in Ottawa with no problems. Prior to arrival, the airline I was booked with, WestJet, had advertised their mobile app which I thought would be convenient for my return flights. Upon accessing the app, I found something very disturbing, the last leg of my return (from Toronto to Charlottetown, PEI) was non-existent.

I initially thought that this was a problem with WestJet and after a 5 hour hold, I finally got in touch with a wonderful service agent who told me that I was a no-show for the flight. How? How could I be a no-show for a flight that wasn't supposed to happen until the 28th? Keep in mind that the first part of the return flight (from Ottawa to Toronto) was indeed scheduled for the 28th as it was supposed to. So how exactly was a connecting flight already flown?

I of course tried to contact Skyscanner and this part is very important. THEY DO NOT HAVE A FUNCTIONING PHONE NUMBER FOR SUPPORT. I began to panic of course and also opted to send an email, praying to anything that they would reply soon. They didn't. In fact, it wasn't until the 28th that I got an absolutely useless email from Skyscanner stating that they were not to blame and that it was the airline's fault.

How am I so sure it was Skyscanner's fault you may ask, because you can actually look up flight histories for any airline in this part of the world and guess what? The flight never existed hence I lost hundreds of dollars to Skyscanner who neither took accountability nor tried to compensate me in any way. They couldn't even attempt to contact the airline on my behalf.

In summary, just know you're paying roulette with your money when you choose to use this appalling company!

Be aware of that searcher site - they are taking part of scamming

Be aware of that searcher site - they are promoting scamming businesses. I have been using skyscanner.ie several times. The best prices almost always is offering lastminute.com or one of the sites of LM Group lmgroup.lastminute.com for example bravofly.com. The problem is that lastminute.com and
bravofly.com and another sites from that group have very very very bad reputation - you can read about that on many sites in Internet. People don't read comment's, just they use searcher as me. I thought that sites promoted by Skyscanner are "safe", but they are not. I booked some flight ticket on brovafly.com, using first Skyscanner.ie to find the cheapest one. The price for ticket have been about 30 EUR lower than on airline site.

After rescheduling of one of my flights, I requested cancellation. My ticket have been cancelled 6 months ago and I don't have still refund or any informations.

Bravofly on 2020-03-05 wrote to me:

"Hi Marcin, Booking ID: *******784

We are writing to inform you that we have confirmed your cancellation request.

We will make the refund of EUR 459.36 to your original payment method. This refund will be made as soon as we receive the amount from the airline, which could take up to 2 months.

Customer Care Team"

It's already 6 months - no any refund, no any contact from Bravofly (only automatic respond from lastminute.com).

It was not COVID airline cancellation, but typical cancellation requested by me after rescheduling one of my flights.

My conclusion - be aware - do not use Skyscanner - you will find (as me) cheaper tickets than on airlines websites, but you will have problems next (as me), because Skyscanner is promoting scamming businesses. And don't belive that they don't know what is going on with LM Group, because it's very easly to find that informations. They are not banning them, they are supporting, so they are taking part of that scamming.
