I had a lifetime membership in 2014
I was told i was going to lose my membership.
Had to buy another membership to keep the magazine coming.
Stay away or get ripped off!
My name is Jose A. Lugo My lifetime membership no. Is ******* I joined back in April of 2003. My lifetime membership was paid in full in good faith. I lived back in Tampa, FL. I am a "Life Time" Member, and I am Very unhappy! I paid out my hard earned money for a seemingly useless "Life Time Membership" about 10 years ago. I have not seen a magazine in over 2 years, and have heard nary a whisper from Handyman. BOHICA!
I have noticed a lot of Members talking about a class action suit over this breech of contract. Are there any lawyers out there that are Members? Is a class action suit a possibility in this case, and if so how do we go about getting it done? I am serious about this and am willing to discuss getting this suit going! Please contact me if you think we can do this. *******@yahoo.com
I have been and paid for a Lifetime Member since 1996. There has been no communication with them in many many years. Sad they took our money and never fulfilled their obligation.
Should have known that when I became a lifetime member of this shoddy organization on October 10,1998, and received my leather jacket with the club's logo, hand stitched on the left chest, and in red capital letters below, affirmly vowing me a "LIFETIME MEMBER", was to good to be true. The certificate, in which I made the frame for, and proudly displayed in my shop, needless to say, is no longer hanging. Shame on you deceitful people for pulling a midnight escape with no explanation for your loyal members! You should all be castrated via a dull, rusty saw blade!
I agree with one of the reviews, Lifetime members like myself, should have a class action suit. But how to do it, I'm not familiar in how that works.
I am a lifetime member. I have not received any issues of their magazine in years.
You are supposed to be able to get free tool reviews. Nothing..
I am a lifetime member cant get battiers for my drill that i brought when i joined toughtest 18volt and why havent i gotten a magazine in over a year look people i just want to find a battiers or one compadable, tell me what kind
What happened to "FREE" monthly magazine promised with life time subscription#*******? No active ph# to call & bogus address on back of card! What a rip-off.
I've been a member when handyman says mm and since I became a lifetime member I haven't heard a word from them nothing no magazines no testing products nothing I think it was a scam I'm very disappointed in this organization
Became a member in roughly 1990 20 09 move to Georgia became a lifetime membership 2013 I have heard nothing ever ever from them what's going on this is truly a rip-off thank you
I have been a member for a long time. No magazine in over a year no benefits no nothing worst club ever and the tools they tried to pawn off on use pure junk
Terrible membership. No communication or offers in years. Been a member for over 10 years and one crap test product and a Hackett that doesn't even fit me
I have been a lifetime member for many years but it's been a long time since I've received the magazine. They should have sent notice if the went out of business.
Another deal of faith fallen through. Take the money and run operation. Paid lifetime fees and got the "free" 100 dollars worth of tools and 1 $15 dollar plier to test and a few magazines... WE NEED TO START A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT!
Who's in?
After paying good money for life membership i gess they took all of our money and ran!
Haven't receved magazine or any other benefits so sad
They went out of business permanently closed. I'm a member since the mid 90s and about a year ago I stopped receiveing my magazine and fix it emails. They are done.
It is sad Handy ended. I was a life member... I guess I still am. I liked their mags, but never got any tools. I did get a pretty nice jacket, I guess now it is a "collector's item".
Long time ago I tried Handy club of america, but I did subscribed to lifetime member but lucky me I never paid them a nickle, I, m the kind of person that if you want my money, you need to show me that you're worth it, they never send good merchandise (tools) so for me it wasn't worth it, lucky i got out of it on time...
I too have been a LIFETIME MEMBER since September 2006 and now have NOT seen a magazine nor heard from the Club for a long time.
Lifetime member #: ******* Michael Staszak
P.S. Request all back issues of "HANDY" magazines since September 2006.
Answer: I too had the the same problem. Found out about a month ago the they changed the name and are not honoring any of the old handyman club memberships sorry
Answer: They closed shop. They embezzled our money.
Answer: Don't feel bad. I (and a lot like me) paid "lifetime" membership dues, and got screwed. Since Handyman aligned with "Scout"... its been downhill all the way. No honoring "Lifetime" benefits. I wish there were a class action lawsuit against them.
Scout has a rating of 1.5 stars from 80 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Scout most frequently mention lifetime member, handyman club and class action. Scout ranks 744th among Sports sites.
