You guys are AMAZING! I am so glad I found your service. I just wanted to let you all know how happy I am with my photo disc. The digital images look so clean and I can finally get rid of these bulky photo albums. I cannot thank you guys enough, but I will recommend you to all my friends and family! My video tapes are next! :)

“Complete Lack of Honesty”

If you are expecting a reasonable time frame for your scanning, this is NOT the company for you. The total time from when I placed my order until I actually saw my transfers online was 36 days. It was another two weeks before my originals were returned. The only reason my order was processed this "fast" was because I constantly hounded them about their terrible service after weeks with no communication. Early on they sent me a notice stating "We are now digitizing your items" - which turns out was a complete lie. Finally found someone who was honest, and their response about the long delay in processing my order was: "We are now digitizing your items means that your order is in the process of being digitized but may not reach a technician automatically. Unfortunately, we are short-staffed at the moment, hence the delay in getting your order processed through to completion." Say what? Then, after weeks of delays, they held up my order for a bogus additional payment, when in fact they actually owed me money. It took them days to resolve this internal IT problem, but in the meantime they refused to release my order. Days later, they released the transfers and refunded me $37.71 with no apology for all the delays. Never again will I use them. I had high stress the whole time they were in possession of my priceless videos. It took days for them to respond to my messages which stressed me even more. In retrospect, I believe the reason they are always discounting everything is that they have positioned themselves as the low price leader and not a quality, reputable resource for your irreplaceable memories. Taking this risk is similar to looking for a low priced brain surgeon. BUYER BEWARE!

Excellent customer service. Excellent product returned. Sent 22 home movies dating back to 1940. Returned my hardrive and a DVD set. Used a $250 Groupon. Kept me informed of status. Asked for expedited service - it cost an extra 10%. I though that was reasonable.

I was excited when Groupon offered a deal for photo scanning services. I had wanted to scan some of my film photos for some time, but was wary of sending it to out-of-the-USA photo scanning services recommended by friends. The fact that I could send my pictures to the same state made me feel better.

After sending in two orders, the CEO sent an email (probably some form email) that posed these questions (I've included my answers):

- How likely you are to use our service again?
Maybe. I scanned most of the pictures that I want electronic files of, but if I happen to sift through my parents photo albums, I may use your service again.

- Would you recommend our service to your friends and family members? Why or why not? I would recommend the service to people. Many of the photo scanning services used to be outside of the country, and that was scary for many of my friends. I've already recommended the service to several people.

- Do you have any feedback on our pricing options? Were they straight forward and easy to understand? The pricing was confusing and isn't easily understandable from the website. I had to call and get clarification regarding some points.

My only complaints are (1) the backlog and time for processing, and (2) when I received my return order, my pictures were returned in the order I sent them (as I requested), however, they were not packaged in a careful manner. Many of my pictures came back to me bent, which was disappointing. The saving grace for the bent photos is I now have them in digital form so I can reprint a new copy.

Business History

ScanDigital began with a simple question from the mother of one of our founders. It was the 2006 holiday season and Mike Mothner was at home opening presents with his family. This year, the gift that was the biggest hit was the digital camera Mike gave to his mother. The wrapping paper hadn't even hit the floor before she was busy lining the Mothner family up for picture after picture. Mike's mom was thrilled at just how easy her new digital camera was to use, and by the time she had downloaded all her photos on to the computer she was hooked. Mike's mom had officially gone digital. Later that night as the family sat down for dinner, a thought occurred to Mrs. Mothner. She turned to Mike and simply asked, "So how do I put all the photos in the garage on my computer?"

Little did she know it, but with that innocent question she planted the seed that would become ScanDigital, Mike started searching the internet for a company that would provide quality digitization services for a fair price. Mike knew he didn't want to send his mom's photo out of the country, but was unable to find a stateside company that could deliver the level of service he wanted for a reasonable price. The more Mike looked into it, the more he started thinking that there must be plenty of moms, dads and countless others who were also facing the dilemma of what to do with their old photos, slides and negatives.

Several days later at a New Year's Eve party in San Diego, Mike approached his long-time friend and soon to be co-founder Anderson Schoenrock. Anderson listened as Mike explained the problem his mom faced in converting her photos to digital and how there just wasn't service that combined value, security and high quality. As the two discussed it, something clicked. It was just one of those moments; both Anderson and Mike they were onto something big. Right there on the balcony of the Torrey Pines Hilton, the two began laying the groundwork for ScanDigital.

Getting ScanDigital up and running was no easy feat. The hours were long and work was hard, but both Mike and Anderson knew they were creating a truly unique service. Within three months, they had developed a business plan and hired programmers to build the website and general infrastructure. About six months after their initial discussion, Mike and Anderson officially launched ScanDigital to the public.

Today, ScanDigital is the premier photo digitization service. Its industry leading innovations have created the most user-friendly process available. Combining tremendous value with an impeccable service, ScanDigital is poised to lead the digital conversion revolution. All thanks to Mike's mom.
