I love this website. I purchased the save our bones program after I was diagnosed with osteoporosis and am very happy with it. It's very well researched, fun to read and I'm already feeling better. Great articles on the website too.
I have read the adverts for this website. I have not subscribed since i do not have osteoporosis. The reason I dont worry about this disease is that I have not had a bone density exam in 25 years. Like many other medical tests especially given to older people the risk of overdiagnosis is high. Bone density has become the protocol for those over 50. This based on an underlying belief that old age itself is a disease. I refuse to become a victim to this kind of thinking. More and more doctors are telling us that if we lead a good lifestyle, good diet, normal weight, no smoking, little alcohol and plenty of physical activity we can beat the "ravages" of getting older. I believe we need good doctors. I had a fracture the other day after a fall and asked a very eminent Sydney (Australia) hand surgeon if i should take a bond density test. No you dont need that he said you are very active.
I applaud Vivian Goldschmitt. Who is a professional woman. She has dedicated herself to researching the alternative method of building and maintaining healthy bones. Even though she touches on controversial issues like the efficacy of dairy in bone health, I am sure that many doctors would agree 100% with her.
A friend of mine with osteoporosis bought into this program, a few years later her osteoporosis has worsened and she is now looking at serious medication to try save what she has left. The person selling save ourbones is a snake oil saleswoman!
I received a notice from them 5 weeks ago, thanking me for my on-line order for $67.00. I never made an order for their on-line book, and tried to contact them, which is almost impossible. Their 2 listed telephone numbers have been disconnected, forcing you to email them, which I did. Their 1st response came 7 - SEVEN - days later which was very generic. After several more emails, they said they credited my refund to my bank account, which was impossible because I don't have an on-line bank account - I use a credit card for purchases. I have sent several more email, with no response yet. I then contacted one of the Drs. Who is on their "consultation" list. This one at least lives in the U.S. - most are in Belize, Argentina, etc. This Dr. who has nothing to do with the Institute now, and I'm guessing only a brief connection in the past, was very professional in his response, but indicated that maybe things have gotten away from the founder, Vivian Goldshmidt, who is now quite elderly, and who knows how the company may have changed. I refuse to give up on this, but just a warning to others: STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! I wish there was a ZERO star option to give. Obviously, many others have also be scammed by them, based on the reviews.
The book is very over priced, $67. All the info in on the internet for fee. Don't buy it.
Only 3 pages of reciptes to try. The book should have been at lease quart full of reciptes. I did learn how bad Fosamax is for us and glad I did not take it. Still book is waste of your hard earned money.
The Save Our Bones Program has been great for me. I only took 4 weeks of the Fosamax could not take it I broke out in a rash was always sick to my stomach for most of the day (the day I took it)had a head ache every day. Then I found the Save Our Bones Program, ordered it that day (5-26-11) My life has been so much better. I am learning to eat right and I know I can reverse my osteoporosis.
The Save Our Bones Program has changed my life! I was almost paralized with fear about having osteoperosis. When I first found out that I was loosing bone, many years ago, my doctor prescribed Fosamax and after just one dose, my previously healthy digestive system developed unrelenting heartburn! Of course I was told to discontinue taking Fosamax, but no doctor believes that I could still (15 years later) still be taking Nexium due to that one pill. Thankfully, I know Im not alone. Following your instructions has improved my overall good health, including my last dexa, which has improved to osteopenia!
I had an issue with my order so I contacted their support. They responded fast and had a another Save Our Bones program mailed to me priority. I'm very happy with their support and product.
It is obviouse all the five star ratings are from the people who work for the save our bones group/company so are therefore false.
Love the website and the products. So much good info on the website then the program have even more and put it all together in an easy to follow format. My friend told me about it after she went from osteoporosis to osteopenia from just following what the program said.
Scammers! So obvious merely indicated by the lengthy introduction that talks in circles. If this were a product of real value, there would be no need for such hype. You make me sick.
After discovering the save our Bones website, I devoured all the information I could. The program is great too. I really believe that it's thanks to Save Our Bones that my bone density has increased and my doctor told me out of the osteoporosis range and my scans had a NORMAL reading. My doctor couldn't believe it and didn't seem to interested in learning about what I did. Again, I thank Save Our Bones for my recovery. My doctor didn't even think it was possible. I can't stress this enoug... go through the website and materials if you have bone concerns.
Great website and program. Great to finally have a community of like minded people going through the same journey as I am. Also very well researched info.
This book is long on criticism, big on print, and short on supporting data or references.
Heres the passage where the author explains how the Program will benefit its audience (presumably osteoporosis patients.)
Osteoporosis is in fact not really a disease but rather the bodys attempt to correct a certain biochemical imbalance in body tissues. This imbalance can be reversed by mainly following simple dietary guidelines that are explained in great detail in a later chapter.
Note that this carefully-worded passage describing the Programs benefits DOES NOT MENTION BONE, BONE DENSITY, OR FRACTURE RISK.
Why might that be?
If the author had references to solid data backing up her bold-sounding claims, why wouldnt she include them? That would only benefit patients and help sell her Program.
Odd for a program called Save Our Bones!
I missed the simple guidelines. There was a lot of nutritional info with dietary suggestions, many recommended supplements, and some information about the alkaline diet, but I didnt see a simple, straightforward Program to follow as promised in the excerpt above.
In addition to sidestepping the subject of whether or how much the Program will improve bone density or reduce fracture risk, the book discredits much about the traditional approach to osteoporosis treatment--without giving sources or directed references to research that backs up the criticism. Maybe I missed it. If this info is in there, please direct me to it.
Main stream medicine does not give the truth on preserving bone mass. This book tells it straight and is a really good resource for everyone but especially women approaching menopause.
Its a scam. It claims milk depletes our bones of calcium because it is acidic. Milk is 6.7 on the pH scale. Water is 7. Carbs are way more acidic. Stomach acid is around 2 on the pH scale.
The information on osteoporosis is good. I was disappointed to find you recommend soy milk which is not good for man or animal. ( See Westonaprice.org)God gave us good food like organic butter: margarine is man made and can have trans fats. Our bodies cannot use Vit. D2, only D3. I agree with you about pasteurized milk; all the enzymes are destroyed. Raw milk is healthy, safe, and has enzymes to aid in digestion. You fail to tell the difference in how cows are raised. Organic cows are raised in God's sun and get VitD3, and eat grass from which their milk gets Omega 3 fatty acids. Those cows raised in a barn eat grain which causes their milk to have Omega 6 fatty acids. Unfortunately they are also fed soy and animal waste. To top it off they are injected with hormones and anti-biotics which will also be in the meat and milk. You seem to be against Psaturated fat. In one of your previous web articles I did respond to that issue, and so did other persons. In one of the recipes you use extra light olive oil. The only good olive oil is extra virgin but olive oil is damaged by frying. I'm sorry I was disappointed in what I read. I even bought a second copy to give my daughter. I am requesting a full refund on both books. I will mail them both to you.PS I don't understand what errors you are claiming. I did enter the website.
Answer: This is the one I take. I use it for half of my intake. I used others over the years and kept switching because I was desperate to slow my bone density loss. I did a kitchen counter test one time of 3 different calciums. From then on I've Garden of Life product because it dissolved way faster in the vinegar/water solution than the other two products.(One of the calciums I tested was a calcium citrate and it took quite a while.) I cannot claim that slowing of my bone density loss was due to the change as I changed other things at the same time. I take a high-calcium yogurt (400 mg/8oz) for the balance of my calcium. Pretty good with 1/2 a banana and some walnunts.
Answer: Amanda, it took around 6 months but finally I got my order. This is a book marketing company run by dummies. Vivian plays her game and gets rich
Answer: They've changed their name to the Save Institute. Go to saveinstitute.com and re-register with them. I get very regular, and often helpful, emails from them.
