My daughter's passport was eaten by our dog right before her trip abroad. Getting her a new passport was complicated by the fact that she lives in another state and was not born in this country, so she needed to send in her Certificate of Citizenship, which I had. An expensive service but well worth it when realizing my passport expired two weeks prior. I submitted my materials on a Wednesday and had my passport and passport card the next Monday (paid for priority service).
