I have camped in a few states using ReserveAmerica. I have been extremely satisfied...I check out the sites and their maps to see where I want to be and check what is available...I will be reserving for summer 23 very soon. This sure beats the old days with first come first serve and never knowing if there would be a good site left. Love this ap...
Why is it that at every State Park I have visited supervisors and employees say they do not like, Did NOT want, and would love to rid the system of "Reserve America" taking control of reservations. All say things ran smoother when each individual State Park had complete control of their individual park. So, to me I ask Who is really in control here? Another political corrupt system? System stinks! In more ways than one!
Had to cancle my stay in an Idaho SP due to Corona. They charge 10$ for the reservation and 10$ for cancellation. Nearby NPs are more customer friendly and waive the cancellation fee. Cancellation was quite an adventure and required me to finally make a long-distance call from Europe as all e-mail remained unanswered...
Abusive monopoly...
Had to cancel a 2 sites I booked for myself and father. Originally booked with a gift card that no longer had, requested a check to be mailed the representative told me it would. I waited about 6 weeks and never received a refund, after many calls saying the issue was escalated about 6 months later they told me it was refunded to the card and they could not provide me a card number. I told them it was a gift card I no longer had the representative read me the note that had that in there, refused to offer another site or refund my money another way, Very poor customer service I got had on that one. The crappy thing is. It was a campground I really like and that is there booking tool but I refuse to give them anymore of my money due to the way they treated me on the phone. Reserve America does not have the customer in mind and are just plain rude.
The Reserve America website is a nightmare to navigate... but it doesn't come close to their mobile version. Beyond horrible! Got to the checkout cart several times and the whole thing magically disappeared! Never could get a reservation made. The fee for reserving online is not worth the hassle! Unfortunately one is totally stuck with their failing system if it is a weekend! Even tried to make a reservation at the campsite but the person at the kiosk couldn't do it... said I had to do it online! Find a park that doesn't use this system!
My title pretty much says it all. If you change your reservation for the same dates on the same day, they make you pay them for a whole night plus a cancellation fee, plus sales (a "tax" on virtually nothing you purchased). Say for example you discover you want/need a different cabin. This won't be considered a change like normal people would view it. Even it's done on the same day for the same reservation dates and a more expensive cabin. Their own cancelation/change policy doesn't address this because if you make a change, they will call it a "cancellation". Don't use them. They are crooks.
Tip for consumers:
Don't use ReserveAmerica

Nothing, they just steal your money
I live in Southern California, 15 mins. From beach and try to pull off last minute deals. Get told sites are available, then they are not. Went to a special occasion at the beach where my family opted out due to other activities. Took my truck with a shell to sleep in instead of my RV. Was turned away because I didnt have an RV. Missed the airshow. Maybe I'm clueless, but I missed some small print about RVs only. Thanks Reserve California. And I love the $7.95 cancellation fees. Who is the one behind all of this making money? This site is a joke! It switches campsite reservations to nowhere near I try to reserve. Seriously, this system is broken and some government worker who is on charge of hiring Reserve America is in on it, guaranteed.
Happy camping and make sure to pay your taxes...
The campgrounds were very nice and clean. Reserve America was a total disappointment. I called Friday morning because my power pole was not working. The Resrve America lady that answered seemed uninterested and said someone would come fix the issue but no one came. I approached maintenance the next day and they were never given the information from Reserve America. Campground staff was excellent. The one star rating is for Reseeve America, please hire people who care!
I made a reservation for one night, but a huge storm with tornado warnings is supposed to come through that night. They wouldn't let me change my reservation and they didn't refund me a single penny... I thought I was supposed to get at least $17 dollars back. Guess not. This was a fantastic waste of $30.
Very poor experience with Reserve America. Imagine my enjoyment when the site I reserved which was Electric and could fit my 35 foot travel trailer was actually a NON-Electric site which had a max trailer length of 25 feet. Reserve America failed miserably! Even the staff at the campground said they are having all sorts of problems with Reserve America causing the same kinds of mistakes. They should refund me every penny! I give them an F, as in FAILURE!
I made several reservations in New Mexico for overnight camping. Since New Mexico will not allow overnight camping at its state parks, the reservations were cancelled by reserveamerica. Why is reserveamerica keeping my transactions fees? That is wrong. I didn't cancel the reservation... they did. They reimbursed the camping spot fees, but not my transactions fees. I can see if I cancelled the reservation, but THEY cancelled it and are now keeping my transaction fee. Sent an email asking them, but of course no response. Bunch of thieves.
I got rid of my RV about 10 years ago due to the problems caused by Reserve America's takeover of state park campground availability. I see that today's camping newbies are encountering the same problems. Unfortunately, the problems will continue because the campers aren't organized and thus have no influence over policy. There also are no warnings about it in the media.
Thought I was making a reservation for a state campsite in Florida. Turned out, I found a better campground before I even made the reservation and backed out of the website.
The next day, I did go into the original campground to look around and was told they never had any availability and had been that way for weeks. The park ranger said that many people who thought they were making a reservation through reserveamerica.com were nefariously being lured to a membership obligation by using the RA America app.
The first thing that pops up is to turn off your security so they can streamline your experience, well duh! NO! Why gives these vultures anymore access to your finances, the next is that they won't let you reserve over 5 months in advance and if you do reserve on the 5 month day for more than just that DAY well you can't edit for 18 more days, kinda like a penalty! So all needs to be exact! Also they charge quite a bit for cancellations and you go on a blacklist for future reservations! The phone service is uneducated and snippy due to them not understanding the rules either! If you need to add a day you have to wait till it is in the 5 month day range, this is so backward thinking that you can't even edit your own reservation! Ugh what an unpleasant experience!
I would give them 0 stars if I could. Just made a reservation less than 2 hours ago and I selected the days to be between 5/26-5/28/18. It popped up with what was available which was the Ramada Campground and I made the reservation. I get the confirmation email which was only stating for 1 day.
I call to see what was going on and they said it was just a day use and not an over-night camping and if I wanted to cancel it would be 2 separate charges of $7.99 and if I wanted to modify it, it would be $7.99.
Was told to call the campsite directly to see if they we're willing to help and I've called over 8 times and no one is answering and the voicemail doesn't even state a business name.
I've made reservations before with them, but obviously I NEVER will again. They are a bunch of crooks, not upfront and I would never recommend this company to anyone.
Everytime I visit the site, its riddled with errors, locked-up mouse clicks, "we've encountered a problem" messages. You want to reserve a campsite: good luck. They're ALWAYS unavailable, but I know they're not. JUNK SITE, why do our state parks bother using this useless reservation vehicle...
I would never use Reserve America to reserve anything in the future. I tried to cancel a reservation, but I didn't know that canceling was as much as the total cost. It ruin my vacation and I'll never use them, ever again.

Camping vacation.
Nothing but trouble with this site and I will choose other campgrounds to avoid dealing with them. Their clients must lose a lot of business from people like me who are fed up. With so many government clients, who are they greasing? Latest: Try to log on for a booking. First the system responds like I'm trying to establish a new account with the email they have on file. No. I was just trying to login. Then, they won't accept the password I know is correct. Repeatedly. Then, they say they will send an email to create a new password. Try and try again and again: nothing. No email. I can't log in and I can't create a new account unless I want to create a new email account. Forget it. I'd rather camp someplace else than deal with this site. Get a clue, campgrounds, and dump these clowns: they're hurting you and your clients.
We reserved a camping site in a New Mexico State Park through ReserveAmerica. Their official policy under Cancellations and Changes states that "There is NO fee to change sites within the same park." When we arrived, we found our site was crammed like a sardine among trailers and RVs, so we asked the Campground Host if there were less crowded camping areas available. He said yes, but that we would have to cancel our ReserveAmerica site, pay their cancellation fees, and then pay the state park an additional $10 for a better site. He called ReserveAmerica "Destroy America" and said their policies don't apply to New Mexico parks, even though they accept ReserveAmerica reservations. The park ranger confirmed this. So we paid the cancellation fees plus the additional walk-in fee, ending up paying $37 for one night at a decent site. I think the "no Fee to change your site within the same park" policy is false and misleading.
Wisconsin state campgrounds require you to go through reserve America to book a campsite. The site was $18, and Reserve America charged an additional $9.65 fee for booking through their site. That is outrageous! This company has made a program that may have cost $30k to build, but then sits back and collects that ridiculous fee every day at every site in the state of WI park system. Reserve America is in bed with our politicians and we are literally paying for it. If the point of having an online system was to lower the park's operating expenses, why didn't they buy the program? It's because it wouldn't allow these scum bags to take from you. I will no longer do business with facilities that use this company. There are plenty of county campgrounds that don't charge for booking. Even if they come out to the same amount of money from my pocket, at least it's going to the park system and not these crooks. Shame on you Reserve America.
I don't even know how anybody gets past step 1 on this site. Every single campsite for every single weekend 6 months in advance is always 100% reserved. Every single time I even try to check this stupid useless site, EVERYTHING is booked out. I know for a fact that people aren't always booking these sites, because I've gone walk-up camping and half the reserve sites are empty. These people need to just give up, and make all the sites they reserve walk-up, because the reserve thing ain't workin for nobody!
I've used them plenty before but I had to call them because I needed to change a date their site says it's $7 to make a reservation change. After calling them to make a change the total came up to 15$. When I asked why where is the extra fees when your website says 7$. The woman became very short snarky I actually could hear her sigh she was in a big hurry to get me off the phone when I told her to look up the information so I could look it up where all this extra fee money came from she could not do it she transferred me to someone else. The guy I literally said oh well various fees for this and that and I said what exactly is this and that your website says $7 and nothing about additional fees listed he said well and then he hangs up the phone. So basically it's fraud they're charging you for fees that are non-existent.
Didn't update my reservations on website, all of my old ones and canceled ones were there, But, current were not. Used chat line, whew what a mess. Gave them the same information several times, reservation number, State and Park name, they kept saying they didn't understand me, After an hour they finely connected me with Linda who told me I had to go to the States Park website to confirm the reservation, No explanation, no help as to why, Terrible
We called in and changed our arrival date to Friday and they put into the computer the next day for the date. And they wont give us another site to stay in and we aren't enough of am emergency to qualify for their "emergency site" and we drove 4 hours to get here.
Reserve America is horrible. The geniuses amended their reservation website in response to COVID and now have 2 calendars; 1 for 2020 and 1 calendar for 2021. Very confusing... their dysfunction website cost me $14.50. What they term a " cancellation fee". ATTENTION all government contract officers. When these idiots bid on your service contract remember it's the lowest QUALIFIED bidder! Reserve America is NOT QUALIFIED
We reserved a campspot over the phone for two nights. When we got to the campground at 9pm they told us that there is no reservation for us and that they don't even take any reservations for less then 6 nights.
I made a reservation less than 2 weeks out for an already very booked location for 2 nights. We had a change in plans and had to cancel 7 days out. We ended up paying nearly $80 in cancellation fees. Per their published cancellation policy, they say, that you have to pay a $7.25 processing fee. I had to pay $17.50. They also say that you also forfeit the fee for first night's fee because we cancelled with less than 8 days. The sad part about the cancellation policy is that it is not published very clearly in the booking menu.
I will not book at a park managed by Reserve America again. I will go with parks that have a real human being that you can work with. We would have preferred changing the dates, but because there really isn't an option for us like coming back next year, we were forced to eat pretty much 75% of the fee knowing full well they will be able to book this last spot with no problem.
Most parks would give you the option to a full refund minus processing fees if they can book the spot.
Feel like a number. Reserve America sucks!
