I was intially lured in with a site advertising penny auctions - what a laugh! The next thing I know iI am linked with QUIBIDS!-RUN FOR THE FOREST ALL YE UNENLIGHTENED!. They sucker you in with a QUOTE" SATISFACTION GUARANTEE". BOGUS! They agree t give your money back, if you did't get "clipped" yet. They notified me that I had to put up a $48.00 deposit to participate in the auction. I started bidding on "BIDS", and was informedthat these were done in. 60 cent increments. NOW WHAT THEY DON;'T TELL YOU IS THAT THE BIDS COUNTDOWN IN 10 SECOND INCREMENTS AND EVERY TIME YOU BID, YOU ARE CHARGED 0.60 CENTS, JUST TO BID! IT DOES NOT MATTER WHETHER YOU OR ANYONE ELSE WINS THE BID, IT STILL COST 0.60 JUST TO MAKE AN ATTEMPT. SUDDENLY THERE IS AN ACCOUNTING MESSAGE SAYING THAT MY $48.00 WAS GONE-IN LESS THAN 10 MINUTES-AND I NEVER WON ONE SINGLE THING. I CONTINUED TO WATCH THIS ITEM, SUPPOSEDLY IN IT'S LAST TEN SECONDS- AND THERE NEVER WAS A WINNER!
I can see how this site is making money hands over fists- they are just sticking their hands in our internet accounts and robbing us BLIND! DON'T SHOP THIS SITE-UNLESS YOU WANT TO LOSE YOUR MONEY. THEY ALSO SEEM TO STICK IT TO PEOPLE FOR DIFFERENT INITAL AMOUNTS-ISN'T THAT STRANGE THAT THEY DON'T REQUIRE THE SAME DEPOSIT AMOUNTS FOR US ALL. I SAW ON THEIR SITE THAT SOMEONE ONE A BLINDER FOR 0.56 CENTS, BUT I WAS NOT ALLOWED TO BID IN INCREMENTS OF LESS THAN 0.60 CENTS. I CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE AND A GAL THERE NAMED DARBY TOLD ME TO WRITE TO BETTER BUSINESS IF I WANTED TO AND THEN HUNG UP ON ME! STAY AWAY FROM THIS RIP OFF SITE.
Well i joined this site sunday-spent my 48.00 on a small bid pack of 80-i won my limit of 3 auctions a day the first 2 days- 115.00 in gift cards w/ small amounts of bids included in the wins-i still have 55 bids left which equal 33.00-id say im ahead of the game! I tried a little bidding on an ipad but its get way out of hand-im cheap and won't give up my bids that easily
I have bid on a couple of things on this site but have totally rethought the whole Quibids idea. Here's why:
Let's say, for example, that you are bidding on a $200 gift card with a 1 cent bid, and let's say that you win the gift card bid for HALF the price with only 10 bids. You have paid $6.00 for the bids, plus the $100 for the card. Great bargain for you, but is Quibids losing money? Hardly.
At 1 penny per bid, the $100.00 card would be 10,000 bids, or 10,000 pennies.
Since each penny increase costs SOMEONE 60 cents, so the company makes. 61. Let's do the math: 10,000 (pennies) x 61 cents (60 cent bid + 1 cent increment increase = brace yourself: $6,100.00! Even if Quibids pays full price for the gift card, and I believe they are, they are STILL making a killing! I'm all for making a dollar, but collectively we are getting screwed while they are laughing their butts off all the way to the bank...
Wanna see something MORE outrageous? They currently have a 60" LG plasma TV for bid that they have listed as $1,887.00 value. Let's say that goes for 1/2 price, which would be $943.50, at 1 cent increments, equals ******* bids x 61 cents each = 57,553.50. (This DOES include the end purchase price of $943.50, but does that make us feel all warm and fuzzy?)
Still a deal for SOMEONE, but it's the principal of the thing. Their site states that they take a loss on many things, but it couldn't possibly be equal to what they are raking in.
While I don't doubt that people "win" auctions here, I'll BET that there are also bots putting in bids to keep some of them running so you'll keep bidding. In just my first (and only) day trying this (today), I just saw too many instances where as long as I was bidding on an item, the clock would keep resetting by "other bids" to keep it going - but within 30 seconds after I gave up on the item, the damn thing would "sell". I saw it too many times to believe that it wasn't being controlled internally. At least it only cost me $45 to learn this lesson.
I can personally tell you that I got involved with the bidding for one of the laptops. I was prepared to pay retail for the laptop so I bid till the very last few seconds, I'm talking more than five hours of 2 cent bidding. In the end, Quibids froze me out with a message that I had been on the site for too long. In that moment, someone else won the bid. In my research I have found that this is not uncommon. It's a felony to fix an auction. I am currently pursuing this with them. Please write me if you have had a similar experience. In the meantime, I shouldn't have to tell you to avoid this fraudulent site.
First I want to say. I do NOT work for the website, nor do I know anyone who does. I live in WI and am in upper management. My husband stumbled across this site and started bidding. I was extremely angry with him when I found out and told him all the things in the negative comments... it's a scam, you have to BUY your bids?, etc. But being the husband, he of course listened to me the way he always does and continued to bid anyways. Well I can't complain anymore! We have won a flatscreen TV, a juicer, a Garmin, a new printer, and a handful of giftcards. Our final price and the cost of the bids has NEVER exceeded the MSRV.
That being said, it IS gambling, you can't begin bidding and expect to win every item. There is a certain amont of luck involved. We also watch the auctions VERY carefully before bidding and will never bid against Autobidders.
So if you use common sense and reccognize there is a certain amount of chance I say go for it, but it you can't afford to gamble then don't play.
I'm going to go have a fresh glass of OJ and watch my new TV
It's rigged like a scam. The real winners are the site owners. "Discounted" price is 20-50% higher than a going street price. No real auction works the way this one setup (read: rigged): you are charged for your bids. As a result, the price of the item you are bidding on has nothing to do with the item but with the revenue stream for the owners because if you don't win a bid, you lose all the money spent on the abstract bids.
THIS SITE IS A SCAM! STAY AWAY! It is NOT an auction site although it appears to operate that way. Just like any other gambling site, if you do not have the money to lose, don't play. You have a better chance at winning the lottery.
I've tried this site twice and the same thing happened both times. The item that sold extremely cheap on the previous auction then sold for a larger amount on the auction I participated. While I was observing the auction I noticed that there are some people who are dominate bidders that continuously bid for hours just to keep the auction going. People were willing to pay only $50 the day before now they will pay over $100. It finally hit me that the people who are dominating the bidding could just as well be working for Quibids and be jacking up the bidding and they are not really paying for their bids. The really people bidding are making the assumption that everyone bidding is legit. I also noticed that they deactivated the bid-o-matic option before my 25 bids were used. They change the rules in the middle of the game. That's pretty shady.
I thought it would be a good way to purchase things at a cheaper price; however, when you do the math, you end up paying more than the site advertises. I have won a few little things- one which still hasn't been delivered [promised delivery within 14 days]. Still waiting.
I am also skeptical about the bidders- they seem to be the same ones online whenever I am. I also wonder when you see someone win a really expensive item for only a few dollars. Do they really win? Or is this a way to keep people trying to win.
I am not sure if I will play alot- the purchase of bids does add up and since I am not wealthy at all- one can go broke easily. It is a gamble, but Vegas odds seem a bit better.
If you like gambling this site is for you. Exactly the same as vegas. If you do not believe me, you will do after loosing your money. I am just trying to give you my net experience. If you want to be smart KEEP away from this site.
I would like to clarify that I am not an employee nor a relative of this website.
I recently stumbled across the site while surfing the web. I read and then watched the auctions. When I initially started bidding, the website actually attempted to discourage me in my bid decision. I ignored the advice to return to the "beginners" auctions and played with the big boys. My decision paid off, I won a DSLR camera at a good price. I set my price limit and would encourage anyone who bids at this site to do the same.
I did and do not feel that the bidding is rigged. I am a "real" person with a "real" experience at QuiBids. I do not think I will win everything I bid on, but I look forward to future bids, gifts and fun!
OMG, I saw this quibid advertised on Alternet so I thought it could be trusted. I plan to notify them of this SCAM in hopes they will drop their adds. Like one person said, 'who pays for bids at an auction?' I thought it was like ebay, so I bid on a camcorder that said, $5.90, after giving them my credit card info, it immediately said I won it for $48. I sent their contact support... whatever, a very nasty email only to get a message saying it would take 2-3 business days for them to respond. I didn't complete their 'confirmation' thing hoping that the transaction wouldn't be completed. I haven't yet checked to see if they charged my credit card. I don't see how this can be legal. I will contact Clark Howard next and maybe with enough complaints these scumbags will be shut down!
I personally like the site. Yea there are some speculations on bots whatever. Here is my outlook:
I paid in the beginning $45 dollars for 80 bids the first thing i did was place one bid on 25 add on bids. I won and paid. 02 cents and it was added immidiately.
Okay so far i lost. 60 (1 bid), but i won 25 bids which would cost $15.
Take the $15 off of my $45 makes $30. (This is in earnings to make back what i lost)
I then went and bidded on an hard candy case for my ipad i won at $1.10. With that and the shipping and my. 60 cents a bid it costed me a grand total of $9.69 for a retailed item of 43.95
I then bidded on a SKLZ Pitching Machine with 12 balls and won at guess 1 bid. 05 cents so. 65 cents plus shipping it was 11.69, this item retails at 49.99. (i play baseball so i was excited cause im a student and don't exactly have a lot of money granted the 45 dollars i had for the bids was to get one, but the ones near me sell for 65 dollars.)
In savings i saved 72.58
I used other bids for other things using my extra 25 bids (i used 20)
I think if your smart about it, don't go crazy and manage your time, monitoring what you bid on you could buy up a BUNCH of stuff and sell it on ebay making a profit.
Don't get sucked in by this scam.
At no time during signup did they indicate a charge.
Immeditially on signup I was charged $48.00 on my credit card.
A charge I was not given an opportunity to approve or dissaprove.
I forsee the courts shutting these theives down shortly.
For all those who feel that Quibids is a scam, I beg to differ. I've just received my 32 G Ipad from Fedex today and I 'm very satisfied with all my winnings. It cost less than $200 for the $599 Ipad (retail see Apple). It took 39 bids and $153 for the win and $15-$20 for shipping. Nevertheless, bidder beware. If you don't sit in front of the screen all day long and bid at the last second, you can find yourself wasting time and money. You'd be better off getting a job and paying retail than spend wasted hours and bids in front of the computer screen. And remember, like in Vegas... the house always wins. But the game is legit, I've gotten my winnings and the customer service was spot on. So, for all those who feel they have been bamboozled, this game isn't a scam and it isn't for everyone. Good luck and I really mean good LUCK!
Well I have been somewhat successful on this site. It's like with anything else if you know what you want and understand the risks(like gambling) you can deal with it.
Example: I was bidding on a blu tooth headset. I lost but decided to use the buy now with my lost bids a credit.

Remainer= 4.53

Do the math. DID I SAVE? On most Items yes, Absolutely.
Be aware of overbidding.
What can I say. I fell for the advertisement, but then learnt very quickly that it's nothing more than a hoax. Seriously, if bestbuy has ipods for $199, then thats the retail price. No way on earth that quibids will be able to deliver for $4.92! Save your money, and DO NOT sign up to this site.
I want to say that I enjoy the quibids site and their premise, and that I've saved money purchasing a few items from them. However, their turn around time is terrible. I've won three auctions, and nearly a month later I've only just received a single item. None were items that should be difficult to obtain, items that they were selling, and continue to sell at least once or twice a day. Furthermore, their customer service has been abysmal. They don't respond and their live chat makes you wait in line before saying that everyone is busy and to try again later. After my first auction I was planning to do much more business with qiubids, now I don't know if I'll even use my remaining bids.
This site is utter waste of time... it will encourage you initially in 1 or 2 attempts to win and then once you fall into it. It is a big gutter and there is no escape...
This site is developed by a bunch of thugs and they have created automatic bidders (Bots) to automatically bid between the bots themselves. Watch carefully when a human is bidding and about to win, you will see from no where a mysterious person comes and extends the bid... this mysterious person is no one but the bot... and then after wining a few more counts of bids, when you are about to win the product, there comes up another bot or previous bot to make a bid... last second how does this bot or few other bots know that no human is making a bid... simple "computer program" which is unaudited and not known to others... trust me... if you get hold of those bidders and verify their existence you will not find them... the computer program randomly generates a user name and bids to outbid you... the CEO and other employees (nothing but the Thugs) are sleeping thru the nights as every second they are making thousands of 60 cents and having their bots make bids to outlast us humans... so once in 10 bids a a human wins and then their review is put up to show this site is genuine... don't bid... WATCH THE PATTERN how the bots comes when some genuine person is about to win... You may think i am out of mind... but you will soon realize and remember this post... And Yes another thing: These quibid owners themselves make bids to win products that they take it home at a fraction of a cost... and once their house is filled with these, then their bots take over to outbid the humans and make money... this is a true analysis... sit and ponder about it... Whoever posts against this is likely to be affiliated to the quibids site... I just wish we could get into their office and see the way their bots ( bots that is users who don't have credit card info, users who don't have an address and users created by these quibid programmers) work
Answer: Yes like Gary O said, $60 buys your first 100 bids. Seems like a lot but after that you can buy 25 bids for $15. Best investment I ever made!
Answer: When you sign up, to be able to bid, you must purchase bids and the first bid pack is 100 bids for $60. People simply do not read. I would ask them why they think they give their credit card number just to sign up. I've read the information and it's pretty clear. I've been using QuiBIds for going on 3 years and I love it. When you sign up there will be at the top that is labeled "QuiBids 101". If you do sign up, be sure to read QuiBids 101 before you begin bidding. It's very helpful.
Answer: Hi Madeline, I'm sorry to hear that you weren't aware you were purchasing the starter bid package of 100 bids for $60.00 when entering your credit card info on the purchase page. The good news is they will offer a full refund for any of your unused bids. Just send them an email at support@quibids.com and they will be happy to assist you. They are very supportive and want to make sure you are satisfied.
