There are a couple of things that I have read that sound disturbing. First the clock stutters or freezes when bidding is almost concluded. Bots are cosnstantly outbidding others. I will not use the site because I will not pay for bids period.

First off people claim that the timer freezes or stutters. I urge these people to check into the load testing done on the host website. If a site gets too many hits at one time the site will crash. Now if everyone waits till there is 2-3 seconds left to place a bid the computer may appear to freeze but the timer actually keeps counting down. Since thousands of people hit the site at once, the site is unable to process the information and temporarily freezes giving the last legitimate bid the win.

Another thing is autobidding. If you bid continuously and have the bids to do so you will outlast those with fewer bids and take home the product cheaper. My best advice here is to do your homework. I would find out the average price that an item sells for and would not start my autobidding until it nears that price. This would make others waste their bids on the front end driving up the costs and allow me to effectively steal the item on the back end. Its like leading 299 laps in a 300 lap race only to be passed in the last turn to finish second in the race.

My opinion, people do not like to lose and they spent alot of money to do so. They did not fully utilize the strategy at winning at this type of auction and now they feel cheated. For the people that claim others bid thousands of times, Maybe you should request a bid history of the item from the site so that there is transparency. If it turns out that large numbers of bids are comming from one bidder then they may be an issue, however keep in mind that just because some bids multiple time on an item doesn't mean its a bot. Case and point most of the people who have commented placed multiple bids on single items, does this mean they are bots?
Bottom line, this is an excellent business model not a scam and remember DO NOT PAY FOR BIDS.

I won a auction in mid May. It was never sent, today QuiBids says they have no more. They sold the sound system for 6 wks after I won mine. How many people are being scamed? Will they make it good, I don't know. We will see.

There are a lot of comments already that talk about the math and how this site makes bank which I feel is true. Somebody made the comment that you can use the amount you spend on bids to purchase the item. The thing is you have only 2 hours after the auction has ended to use the buy it now and have your bids count towards purchasing the full retail price of the item. Why only a 2 hour window? I can understand maybe a 24 hour window but only giving a 2 hour window seems like they prefer if you don't use the buy it now auction and be able to apply your bids towards the purchase price.

A lot of people are going to start bidding on a auction which may take HOURS and HOURS. You end up going to work of having to do something. The Auction finally ends and when you find out, most of the time the 2 hours will have passed and you will have lost all your credit towards purchasing the item at Full Retail Prices.

The only way to avoid this is to sit in front of your computer the ENTIRE time until the auction ends. An Auction may finally end at 2am in the morning and you will have to buy the item before 4am in order to use your credit. Don't plan on sleeping or having a life if you want to use your credits to purchase the item.

As far as the entire site goes, the concept is an interesting one but I would not put it in the same category as shopping and other legitimate auction sites. The site is more of a gambling site. In order for there to be a winner (getting an item for cheap), there has to be a loser and the losers pay a heavy price.

This site is a total scam. It is full of bots and users with random names. A bot bidded on a $100 gift card 300 times when he could have brought it with the Buy Now button. This is a TOTAL SCAM. Don't sign up.

Has anybody ever heard the phrase - "You can't please everybody"? Well QuiBids is the same way. For those who win and actually get a great deal then those individuals will walk away happy. Those who don't understand how to use the site to your advantage you will curse them as being unfair. If you havent read enough reviews on the internet about QuiBids I will share my experience and opinion.

QuiBids is like gambling - the odds arent always in your favor but if you win its pretty cool. So you simply start by purchasing bids... thats right. You have to buy the bids that you need to place on any particular item. For example 45 bids for $27. So at this point you are invested for $27 - then if you win a auction placing bids then you win the item at that price of the ending auction so if it was $45 then your total cost is $72. Now, if the real item price was lets say $150 then you saved over 50%. The trick here is to watch and learn before you buy and place your bids.

From my experience I wanted the Blu-Ray Trilogy's for Bourne and The Matrix also including Band of Brothers. Now, I purchased a total of 90 bids for $54. The total combined price of these individually if I had bought them separate could have ranged from $150 - $200. Long story short I won all three with shipping for $73.82. I would say at least a 60% discounted price.

Its all in how you watch and place your bids. Watch and learn and you could get great discounts of up to 50% - 70%. It could also be less. Just don't get carried away because then you will lose the purpose of getting a discounted price and just lose money and not be happy with the site.

What a rip off
June 22, 2010

What a rip off. The hot bids are placed at hot times of the day so that many folks bid. They lure you into paying $45 for some 70 bids (to be honest, i thought I had clicked the option to get just $15 worth of bids, but when you're a first timer, they trick you into paying $45). It's just a rip off and works for folks who have time to sit around and wait for the unreal deal. As for me, I'm back to ebay where I pay what I'm prepared to pay without silly gimmicks like this. My warning - stay away from this site! They will just make you pay for bids, and then you'll feel bad coz you got nothing for the bids you paid for!

I was so excited to win a mixer on this site when I first started that it encouraged me to continue... BIG MISTAKE! Very addicting! You end up spending 3 times the amount of money on the crap they ALLOW you to win if you're not careful. I set my Bid-O-Matic (auto bid system they allow in case you have to walk away from your computer- except I was there watching the bidding while set to this) to bid for me and someone HAPPENED to win the big price item (nice camera) while my bids I set to happen automatically had not been exhausted. I had a few more left waiting to be used on the auto system and the item flashed to SOLD for $20. I contacted customer support and they pretty much told me I was wrong and deactivated my account since I asked for a refund of my remaining bids. FISHY? Very! Beware! This has to be fixed! If you watch close enough, you"ll see a pattern of things that just won't make sense.

I read through many of the reviews, and I have to say I agree totally with the negative ones. I have had the exact same experiences. I have been trying to win a Nikon D90 camera for about a month. It goes up for bid everyday.

I did the same as many of the reviewers. I bought the small package to try. I won the beginner vouchers with one bid. This is obviously to set you up, and feel like a winner. I then watched the auctions first to see when the best days and times were to bid. I tried many different times and stuck out the auctions several times and never won.

I am not being a poor looser, but the reasons that the auction ended were: The bid counter froze up on a couple different occassions, and the auction sold at 2 seconds instead of going to 1 second. As you read these reviews this is also what has happened to others. Then I noticed these winners they ended on were people who spent alot of money on bids.

I just ended an auction that I sat and watched for 5 hours. I clicked my mouse at 2 seconds and it did not register, but sold it to a person who just spent $607 in bids. That so does not make sense. I do believe now this is totally rigged just like some casinos. I tried to contact them once before, when their counters froze up, but they never responded.

I HAVE NOW WASTED ABOUT $150 AND MANY HOURS OF MY TIME! DON'T GET SUCKERED IN LIKE I DID. IF IT IS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE IT IS NOT TRUE! THIS DEFINITELY IS RIGGED. I WORK IN THE MEDIA WORLD AND THIS IS DEFINITELY WORTH A DATE LINE INVESTIGATION.

This site is fabulous only if you own it. The customers are the suckers. For instance a DSLR camera they claim was recently sold for 85.04 in 2C increments this is 4252 bids or $2,551.20 plus $12.99 Shipping. The winner placed 1013 bids and the losers placed 3,239 bids for losing bets of $1,943.4. This is assuming on blind faith that the winner was not a bot and no merchandise changed hands. This provides QuiBids with a nice net profit either way, who is to know. This site is proof that a sucker and his money is easily parted. If you look at the auction home page for a while and come back a few hours later you will see the same names bidding continuously, So either these people have an unlimited amount of money to waste or they are bots, your call your money. Caveat emptor.

Not so much a scam but a gamble.

I think some are being a little too harsh about this site. The fact that Quibids makes a LOT of money on one item isn't a scam at all. What Quibids is doing is more like gambling and is as much a scam as Las Vegas is. Here's what I mean. In general, the casinos in Vegas are selling to a lot of people the opportunity to win a huge prize. The casinos don't charge a lot of money to buy an opportunity to win (a nickel at the nickel slots, a $10 anti at the blackjack table, etc), but they make an obscene amount of money because with so many people wanting to win the prize, those nickels add up quickly (a small fraction of a really big number is still a really big number). Only a chance few actually win the prize while all the others go home empty handed. If lady luck is on my side, I can win the $25K grand prize on my first nickel. The probability of that happening is slim, but it is still possible, and I come home a big winner. More than likely I'll hopefully get to the point where I realize I've spent a lot of money for nothing and decide to leave. If I feel really guilty about not winning, I can console myself by saying I spent that money on entertainment (much like I would by going to the movies or to the lake) because I had fun pumping all those nickels into the machine in hopes of winning.

This is what Quibids does. They sell a lot of people the opportunity to win the big prize. Even though they charge a small amount to play ($0.60 per bid), when a lot of people bid on one particular item, Quibids makes a lot of money on that item. Not really a scam but a good business model. If I'm foolish I'll keep bidding on something until I run out of bids. If I'm prudent perhaps I can observe enough to put the odds in my favor. If I'm lucky perhaps I can actually score a good deal. Sounds just like Vegas to me!

Ok so i started on the site only to find that you need to have alot of bids to win anything even bids. So i tried winning a bunch of bids trying to save up so i can devote alot to a particular item i want. I bid on a 100 bid package and lost because i ran out of bids. I used the buy it now feature and purchased it alittle cheaper spent about 50 dollars on it. So at that point i said ok i have 100 bids so im going to use as much of them as possible to win 100 bids even if i spend 80 bids i still win 20 right? Also at worse case senario even if i waste all my bids the buy it now feature gives me them back for a 2 dollar transaction fee. So i end up spending all my bids on it and loose then when i go to buy it it didnt show my bids and give me a discount. They show me bidding on it but not how many bids and did not give me the discount. I sent a message to them but when i send it it brings me to a blank page. So i call the number their not open til mon. Thru fri. So like wtf its saturday morning i just wasted 50 dollars and im not buying more bids until they reinburse me for the 100 i just wasted. If the auction is 24hrs shouldn't the customer support be the same i mean i know and you know the examples of how much money their making when a $60 item sells for $10 the just sold it basicly for $600... wtf

QuiBids is not what you could call a Scam, but it is right out of the P. T. Barnum mold calling for a Sucker To Be Born Every Minute. As has already been pointed out here, QuiBids collects around $1000 in bids for every $100 worth of product it sells. You can spend a great deal of money here, and win NOTHING. The folks who dreamed this one up have what amounts to a legitimate con game going. Oh, you can win a $100 item for 50 cents now and then, but if you add things up you will see that you have spent $500, when this and your bids on other items, are added up, to do so.

More like a gambling website. You "buy chips" known as bids with the hope that it will somehow get you a great deal. This is the type of website I would expect someone in Vegas or in organized crime to create.

Just think about it
June 17, 2010

Just think about it - $21.00 at $. 01 per bid is 2,100 bids at $. 60 per bid means that Quibids made $1,260.00 to sell you a $400.00 item. Pretty good profit margin - wish I had thought of this...

It is a very alluring site when you see the stories of the few winners. But don't get deceived. You will waste a ton of time and money trying to get to that one victory. It isn't worth it in the end.

This site is such a scam. And yes, I read through all the faqs and the QuiBids101. I sat and watched the bidding for a few days and then finally bought 45 bids for $25 and started to bid on a low ticket item. I won a 25 bid voucher my first try but it was all downhill from there. If you think about it, it really doesn't make sense that you would win. The only way to win is if you are the last bidder when the clock counts down to zero. But if anyone bids again, the clock goes up another 10-20 seconds. It's not logical that anyone would just stop bidding when an iPad is going for $2.56 unless they happen to have run out of bids. I posted a question in the 101 section asking why anyone would stop bidding when the price was still so low. I came back the next day to see if anyone had responded and saw that it had been deleted. And all the folks who say you just need to be patient and practice and learn how to bid, don't listen to them. You'll end up $100 in the hole and come to the same conclusion I did.

I WONT GO INTO THE ODDS, BUT EVERYONE OF MY FRIENDS LOST A GOOD AMOUNT OF MONEY ON ITEMS THEY HAD NO CHANCE OF WINNING (These people are good on Propaganda, so look out!) THIS IS A SHAM, BUT BY THE TIME THE ATTORNEY GENERALS OF MOST STATES GET A CRACK AT QUIBIDS, THE OWNERS WILL BE GONE WITH MILLIONS. I AM NOT SOUR GRAPE, AND DID NOT WANT SOMETHING FOR NOTHING. I GOT NOTHING FOR A CONSIDERABLE SOMETHING. AFTER WATCHING CAREFULLY, YOU WILL SEE THAT YOU HAVE NO MORE THAN 1-2% (IF THAT) OF WINNING ANYTHING SUBSTANTIAL. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. BEWARE! STOP! THINK AND OBSERVE... THIS IS ROBBERY, CHEAT AND FRAUD.

BE AWARED ABOUT THIS WEBSITE:
1. When you sign up for this website, you'll automatically be charged $45 for 75 bids to be in the game. You do not have options to choose how many bids you want to purchase and there is NO WHERE at this website that said you are required to pay for a start-up 75 bids. After the registration, you will recieve a confirmation e-mail and say you purchase 75 bids.

2. Those bids are not refundable. You either use them or lost them. Good Luck on trying to contact them or getting a refund on those unused bids. They only have one customer service number that allow you to leave your messages.

I have to say that initially I thought the site was really cool and it was fun to be competing, but with that being said... it's addicting and before you know it... you're pulling out your credit card buying more bids. BE AWARE OF THE SHIPPING COSTS... I won a george foreman grill for around $2 and shipping was $12. It's really not a good deal once you do the math, the owners of the site are making their money and more. Everyone is busy trying to outbid one another at. 60 per bid... do the math... RIP OFF!

Had to buy penny bids for 25 dollars. Tried to bid on an item but in no time I was out of bids. I honestly feel they must have these items are controlled by quibids because this item had no bids on it until I began bidding then strangely enough everyone was bidding at once. This site is a scam!
