This product design is absolutely horrid. Specifically in its outdated teaching methods. The way it explains wrong answers is by showing the same kind of question with no explanation. It pushes children behind in this field and I can tell by the reviews. This app cannot teach children even basic grammar, and this is clear with the immature, misspellings in all of these reviews. I am not saying they're wrong, but if this product actually worked then these reviews would be well-written about stupid topics just because they didn't like school.
For any kids that have AD-HD this site can be really frustrating for them. It tempers them when they have one question left and get it wrong. Therefore they need to answer another 2 answers just to continue on. If a child doesn't understand the examples barely give out information on how to do it. The answering 2 questions after getting 1 wrong is the main issue with the whole thing. Be mindful that kids have a limited time on their work and the 2 questions just make it harder for them to actually finish. This site sucks and I don't recommend it for students or teachers.
Whenever my teacher assigns a quiz, in order to get a 100, I have to get everything right first try, no going back if you know you missed something. If you accidentally hit enter during a quiz, it submits your response whether you're finished or not. Also, if you forget a grammar rule, there appears to be no easy way to go back and find one of your previous assignments to get a reminder of how that grammar rule works. Teachers need to stop using this piece of crap of a website.
This isn't the best thing that I would use for kids. (yes this is written by a nine y/o). I don't like it because it gets my answers wrong when I get them right. My teacher said it was "very" helpful I don't really think it's that easy to use...
This website is absolute garbage. The "learning" method is awful, forcing you to just answer questions over over if you are even slightly unsure of how to do a given assignment. If you get even a single answer wrong you are forced to get two more correct in a row. This can lead to upwards of 1 hundred questions A TOPIC answered for completion, not even the entire lesson. Half the lessons don't even make sense, teaching you the wrong way to speak just for the sake of forcing you to complete an assignment. Teachers, please never, ever make students use this terrible website.
Never use this garbage $#*! $#*!ing website, like holy $#*!... You expect me to get 3 questions in a row correct for just missing one? Why the $#*! should I need to spend 3 hours of my life for homework cause of this $#*!ty $#*! website.
Little $#*! got no mom, dad never came back with the milk. Need's metal help stop torturing kids. This $#*! is wrong this is guy just thinks that he can $#*! his step mom and mess students up you will die doing this quiz this is $#*!ing hell. Never do this $#*!.
I'm only writing this because of the absurd amount of 1 star reviews there are, there doesn't need to be that many.
People keep saying this website is suffering, I personally beg to differ, this was a really interesting way of learning grammar. If you are one of those one star reviewers, you might try to justify the fact that the UI is incompatible with certain people, but if you have a functioning unsalty brain and you are willing to pay attention, you should know how this thing works. Now I will admit, the usage of random characters to put in a preexisting text is quite weird and lazy, but it doesn't matter.
This review may be targeted towards the one star reviewers, but if you are a teacher looking for a good website to teach literacy, this is the website for you.
Also I found out that you can put images within the text boxes.
Awful, don't subject anybody to this. If I get one question wrong in the slightest, I have to do two more to make up for it and the explanations are absolutely awful. Let's say I get one question wrong on a quiz, i'll have to do two of those problems after i've already taken the quiz to make up for it so they know "i got it." So if I get over 5 wrong i'd be doing 10 more questions than I should be essentially instead of them just actually explaining the material to me. Instead they show the exact same problem with no explanation. Super stressful and takes forever to complete, makes me just want to get through it and not try to grasp it.
I don't really like the app it takes a lot of brain power just to do one question, and the questions I tend to struggle with because they seem to be written in gibberish. From this website alone I have lost over 30% of my brain power. Remind you this is coming from someone who struggles in english so try it if you want. I just advise you to keep it short.
Oh, I just love this stupid idiotic site! Just love how I get to sit there for hours stuck doing two questions, again, again and again forever. Never actually making any progress whatsoever, isn't that a grand concept? Forcing your users, to waste their time when they could actually do their school work, and speaking of school work (at least at my school) The teachers are ruthless and bloodthirsty, I tell my teacher for obvious reasons that I'm not going to get this pile of garbage (NoRedInk) Finished on time before its due, and absolutely plead and beg and worship them on my hands and knees crying and praying that they will give me a different assignment to do, could you believe me if I told you that they told me to just "Complete it" How am I suppose to complete it?! When none of the prompts make any sense, and I can't even make progress because of its stupid two problem system, who thought this website was a good idea! What were they thinking?!
In conclusion, I'd rather do a 60-minute session of membean then this garbage.
NoRedInk feels like Duolingo, but the setting is just on English. It is either mind numbingly easy and just takes forever, or is way way too hard and doesn't actually explain what is going on well at all. It should give you an explanation as to why your response was wrong, but it doesn't, it just re-explains the subject matter of your lesson, and shows you the same example problem. Online, NRI claims to be giving personalized and specific explanations. To correct the errors of students, like a teacher writing correctional comments on a paper in red pen. I don't remember my teacher telling me I'm wrong, explaining the whole curriculum, showing me the answer key for a different test, then making me take two more tests on the question I missed before I am able to return to class.
I am genuinely appalled by this website's service. My heart goes out to any student that has to go through this disgusting process. There are countless ways of perfecting grammar that does not require multiple repetitive, unengaging steps just to answer a single part of the question. It's - as the title suggest - horrible.
But that's not possible. So I give you a 1.
Onto the actual review, I want to brutally murder the creators of this site. Customer service? Nope. Not a single review or support email answered. Right questions? Nope. Misleading. Helps you learn? Nope. Hasn't taught me anything and I literally don't remember anything from an assignment I did 30 minutes ago as of now. I think I would rather sit in a basement, tarantulas and wasps around me sacrificing me as I sit tied up in the middle of a pentagram than do this. I'm only 11 and have been using NoRedInk for 2 years, yet my will to live has decreased by roughly 70%.
Noredink brings stress to students that teachers cant imagine. I warned you, it's very traumatic and has kept me up for nights yelling at my computer. Noredink is a punishment that no student deserves. You will go insane using noredink. A one star review is too generous. Teachers, help your kids don't hurt them.
I will never use no red ink for work or my kids again it makes them feel and about them selves and one question wrong and having to answer two more just to fix it. Really? Do better
Noredink is a website that English teachers use and although they use it, it's not the best, personally I can say that the lessons while functioning are not the best, the questions (depending on what topics you've chosen) are worded like they were meant for dyslexic children which probably makes up 1% of the people that use it, and the lessons themselves struggle to keep consistency. Overall the website is annoying, unethical for student mental health (obviously a joke, unless it really affected you that much), and worst of all it literally requires more brawn than brain.
Recommend not to use this website, but educational systems are terrible at listening to what their students want, and what is best for their mental health because they believe that grades and work is much more- I'm getting off topic, anyways, website garbage yada yada.
Some of you guys gotta chill with your reviews though, jeez, especially the uh- "Furry" one.
I'm 11 years old and this $#*! makes me want to blow my brains out. I'd rather go out Kurt Cobain style than do more of this absolute dog $#*!. $#*! the creators, I'm railing their $#*!ty trailer trash wives after I get done with my 3 hours of noredink. $#*! you
Everything in this shovelware disguised as a student help tool is designed to kick you while you're down. Every question is nothing more than a waste of time and energy. Many of the topics cannot be learned by just looking at one sentence and deserve to be at minimum a paragraph and yet, they expect us to know what to do. Please pick up google docs and write a short story so you can realize how useless this application is in helping you learn to write.
Noredink consists of sitting on a computer and blindly attempting grammar questions. Students do not like Noredink, but American educators do not seem to care. Honestly, I think this is the worst app ever. If you enjoy suffering, then assign this mother $#*!ing abomination to your students. I don't recommend it. If you fail a question it makes you do 2 more instead of helping. I cry every time I see this $#*!. Please ban it from every school in america. I would rate this 0 stars if I could, because even 1 star is an overstatement of this app.
Answer: It has a very poorly put together algorithm, one so bad it seems as if it was designed to attack the mind. Hopefully, it will change.
