My 2 sons attended the Blake corum camp put on by next gen camps. We paid for an autograph, individual photo, t-shirt, 7 on 7 tournaments, and a chance to win prizes. We received none of this. The camp was oversold. The owner Jacob Byrd, was very aggressive when a group of parents asked him about this. He defended the camp and said we should be thanking him. He deleted all the comments we left on Facebook and has now deleted the entire listing for the camp. This is very sleazy. If you look at their bbb and Yelp profile, you will see he has done this in the past. Very very poor scam. We have filed against the attorney general in Ohio. This is fraud.
This business is supposed to be fun for kids, not a rip off. Be ashamed Jacob Byrd.
This camp advertises days with athletes, collects money from parents and then cancels the events. It's impossible to get in touch with them for refunds.
My son was very excited to go to this camp. I was very excited for him. We did not have high expectations for the actual "learning" portion of a camp. We treated it as an experience to meet one of his favorite athletes. What we DID expect was for Next Gen Camps to deliver on all that was sold to us when we purchased the ticket. That was:
- An individual photo with the athlete
- A "camp branded" autographed item from the athlete
- A camp t-shirt
- 7 on 7 tournament
- games prizes and fun
We received none of these...ABSOLUTELY NONE. They did take our names to send an autograph on the "camp branded" item (which was pathetic as it was a printed piece of paper) but we never received it. We also never received the camp t-shirt because they were out of his size (again, they oversold) even though they took his size down when we bought the ticket. NOBODY received an individual photo with the athlete. When parents asked the owner about this in person, he was extremely aggressive stating that we should be happy he brought the athlete to them and there are too many kids to take individual photos. This is complete fraud and a bait and switch.
The camp itself was nothing more than high school coaches running drills and was extremely unorganized (it was NOT the coaches fault...it was the owner for being greedy and profiting from the NIL). 7 on 7 tournament, games and prizes also did not happen.
The worst part of all, the owner doesn't answer phone calls, emails but is active on facebook. Their facebook page had many complaints from angry parents...what does Next Gen Camps do? They block those parents and completely delete the listing to hide their mistake.
This camp was a complete scam and I hope everybody files for a chargeback like I did. Complete disaster.
The business itself wants you to feel bad for them and honored that you were able to "experience" what they offered. When many complaints were filed, the owner decided to state they are a small business and should be supported not criticized. They offered a "solution" for a percentage off another camp with them. That is not taking responsibility. You know very well that nobody wants to attend your camp again and you are hoping to just sweep the issue under the rug. Very poor business..
