“Anthony is a Drunken Tyrant and Insufferable Jerk”

Anony M.
7/4/23

This website has so much potential if it weren't run by such an insufferable and miserable human being. Don't bother asking questions or making inquiries into anything unless you want to be berated and made to feel stupid. Anthony is the king of punching down on people which is wholly ironic considering this website is supposed to be geared at supporting those with PTSD. Use at your own risk, but with the resources out there these days, I'd recommend you skip it entirely. Run, don't walk!

I was a member for about a month on myptsd.com. During that time i have witnessed very concerning things and rethorics going on. Let's review them:

1) the admin team seems to be a monolith rehashing the same logic: essentially you are wrong on everything you feel and think that does not align with their simplistic and frankly nasty view, because you have ptsd, you are just triggered and reacting to your past! The founder's views are laughable and frightening at the same time: a weird, diluted, scientifically inacurate interpretation of CBT and vague zen principles that he uses to justify his world view: everything's your fault, if you get r***d and feel anger, its your fault cause emotions are happening within you blah blah blah just get more exposure, more, moooore, everyday hurt yourself with your triggers! You get the picture
Any disagreement will be switfly squashed: post moved, authoritarian messages from the mods etc

2)very shady thing going on with the status and use of copyright of the website: at first glance, it sould seem that you are using a free, not monetized resource. There's even a donation button to help keeping the forum afloat! But no, this is a business and anything you post in there apparently falls under some copyright laws which means it is now their property. Let that sink in for a moment and imagine the ramifications. For instance, any art you post there technically belong to them. Also you cannot post anything that could be a copyrighted material. Fair enough. But if you comit that tragic mistake you will immediately receive a long, authoritarian message threatening you with a year long ban if you repeat the offense.

3) A very negative, fear mongering and pessimistic view on trauma healing. Basically they tell you there's no cure, its cyclical so you could be well after years of therapy but be back to square one 10 years later for no reason. Like, dude, that just mean you havent processed a thing. The progress members make there seems minimal: basically theyre coping better with their symptoms after years of trying to heal.

Such a humongus part of trauma healing is gaining a sense of self-worth, respect, compassion and empowerment, from yourself and from others. If you accept to put up with the miserable mindset and consideration these people are offering, i don't see how you could ever heal. The only redeeming thing is the available GPTchat thing, but im guessing you can get a similar service elsewhere.

I feel that this forum is a place run by deeply unhealed people who are compensating and avoiding true healing via the sense of superiority and control they impose upon other vulnerable people. Also apparently making a profit out of it. Overall very gross experience. My heart goes to the other members stuck in this mess, i hope you can go beyond this misery and find true healing. You deserve it.

Myptsd is a fantastic forum for folks who have been diagnosed with PTSD. Members are very supportive and generally not judgemental; they listen and provide advice as appropriate. They also help hold people accountable for their behavior - something I've not seen on other sites. That said, the admin/founder/moderators are just mean. They are condescending and make sure everyone understands they have all the answers. Don't question anything these guys say; you will be berated and/or banned. A physically secure, emotionally unsafe environment at times.
