I hired this team while relocating states.the first truck they were fast but kind of sloppy overall they seemed like they were trying hard and it was Alot of stuff.26ft truck packed tight. I asked if they would like to do the next truck I brought in a few days because we had all ready met they agreed. Few days later arrived with second truck.found New home had been robbed of several things while gone. Taken back I helped the guys unload the truck.one mentioned he was a U-Haul dealer and I was ready to ditch the 26 footer for something smaller. He helped me try to rent a 24/7 small truck on the website. I was denied because there was tape on my license. We parted ways. Shortly after I needed a truck again so I hit the guy up because I had his number from before. He helped me out and I got a truck for a couple hrs. Later that day he text I owed thousands and he was fired because of it. I had no idea what he was talking about I was in process of returning the rental. And went about my day and headed to home state. To find I was robbed again When I got to the new home.
Couple weeks later reveiwing my bank statement from move. I see I was charged for the denied rental there was another attempt via Uhaul to charge thousands that was denied due to lack of funds and there was also 2 more charges that had went through that shouldn't have even for the truck rental I had a couple hours I payed the guy directly via cash app not Uhaul. Same statement... Couple weeks later here and now. Previous home owner stops by asks about the one mover the U-Haul dealer The old owner happened to stop there when we unloaded 1st truck and seen the guys. He mentions something about him being at the house without me wondered if I had trouble that day. I'm like.umm what? Guy should have never been there with our me or alone or any thing like that. The old owner figured we were friends or something so he did not mention it prior. The next day my phone's acting slow so I got to delete old apps and check my storage clean my phone up some. And found The Uhaul app has been tagging my location multiple times a day all day long at all random times. U-Haul said there was no reasonI hadnot rented in some time when I asked them why. I then proceeded to ask who tags a customers location via there app if they are looking for equipment or whatever. She replied only a store owner.
For now it's still all being investigated
I shared this info with Uhaul the teams still up for hire somehow despite he said he was fired🤷
U-Haul has not offered to look into or reemberse me for the transactions. They did not ask for any details and have shown no concern.
Moving approximately 20 hours can be stressful. After careful consideration, we decided to use U-Haul's "Moving Help" offering to load and unload the 26' one-way truck from the midwest to the Las Vegas area. We also purchased $650+ in boxes, packing kits, bubble wrap, and packing material to ensure everything would arrive safely. We also added "Safe Move Plus", "Safe Trip", and "Safe Load" services.
The 26' truck was clean, however the air conditioning only worked when hitting the accelerator. Overall - the truck worked and that was great.
The "Moving Help" is where our problems began. "Mo Pack N Move" was selected based on their previous track record of good reviews. Three helpers were booked for early morning to pack the house. They arrived with only two helpers, a couple hours past the time arranged to arrive, and did wrap the majority of the furniture. Items like our stainless steel fridge was not and dented and scratched upon loading as it was wedged in the front door without any padding. The load took much longer than anticipated due to the lack of helper, where they held us "hostage" for more money to finish the job. I also helped pack the entire time as it was clear it was too big of a job for this inexperienced outfit. It was always transparent the size of house (4 bed, 3 bath, approx. 2200 sq. Ft).
Upon arriving to our new home, we were told by the WONDERFUL Apogee Movers, who unloaded the truck efficiently, quickly, and carefully, that the pack job was not done well and was a sign of inexperience from the packers. Apogee Movers did an excellent job and I wish they had been able to pack the truck as well, but geography prevented that.
Many items were damaged, documented by Apogee Movers, and a claim was filed with Rep West who handles any Safe Move (Moving Help) claims. "Mo Pack N Move" essentially told Rep West they loaded it fine, and the items shifted in transit. The truck was driven very carefully, and items damaged including the mint condition refrigerator, kitchen dining set, vases, wood gashes on stools, legs broken off an entertainment venter, a piece to a very expensive elliptical that "Mo Pack N Move" dropped on the driveway, along with many other items including plates, figurines, shelving, office equipment, art frames - which were all packed with U-Haul materials, were damaged during loading via our unpacker's professional opinion. Again, the Apogee unpackers were extremely professional, unloaded the WHOLE truck in 4 hours with 3 helpers, vs. the packers which took all day and didn't bring the contracted amount of loaders.
U-Haul used to be my first choice for any truck rental needs. Next time, I will be using a professional moving company as this was a terrible experience and we are out thousands of dollars replacing damaged items. Rep West would not honor the insurance we purchased.
Marketing and customer satisfaction are two items I focus on daily in my career. U-Haul should distance themselves from the "Moving Help" concept and Rep West especially, as this damages your reputation and you should focus on what you do best - renting trucks.
I rented a U-Box from U-Haul, and used their MovingHelp.com website to arrange movers to load the box. I purchased insurance for the move from Colorado to Florida, and was automatically charged $25 per month for insurance while the box was in storage ($110.55 per month total.) My property was in transit for approx (1) month, and in storage for (2) months. A 3rd storage month payment of $110.55 was made for the several days overlap prior to pickup.
First Facility, Pickup-Day: U-Haul staff spend (1) hour plus trying to figure out where my U-Box is. They conclude the box had been sent to a regional facility and gave me directions to that location a half hour away.
Regional Facility: Not to be outdone, this U-Haul staff also insists they do not have my box. For (2) hours. Mostly calls to the first facility. The final word comes - the first facility DOES have my box. I drive back. The day is now half gone.
First Facility, Redux: I was unable to arrange any help so I drove the load myself. I returned the U-Box approx (3) hours later when it was so marked by a staffer.
Ruh Roh: While unloading I discovered that two pieces were damaged - an antique chair, (1) in a set of (4) and a hand-painted, artisan lamp shade. Both pieces were heavily wrapped /protected by the original MovingHelp.com movers. I filed an insurance claim for damages. Estimated loss is probably $2,000 to $3,000.
U-Hual: The U-Haul insurance adjusters reject my claim telling me to take it up with MovingHelp.com. Why? The insurance, apparently, only coveres instances when the box is damaged. Or something like that. Those monthly insurance charges while in storage must have had the same value. I now understand - I had been protected against catastophic accidents not far south of a meteor strike. My pleas as to the actual purpose of buying insurance left them unmoved.
MovingHelp.com: This wing of U-Haul would not take up the matter since the elapsed time of my storage had exceeded some mystical time limit. 30 days? 90 Days? I don't remember. They didn't stop charging me for insurance, however. I must assume that they, too, were a last stand against meteor strike. MovingHelp.com said my only recourse was to sue the moving guys in Colorado. Naturally, everything flows downhill.
Moving Guys In Colorado: We're not insured, bro.
U-Haul: Thinking my U-Haul misery was complete they somehow pulled out another plot twist. No slackers, these U-Haulers. Silly me, I was on auto-pay during the move. After registering the return of my U-Box a month ago... on the same day I picked it up... they managed to charge me $110.55 for another month's storage. Today.
But wait, my sad tale is not done! I spent another hour of my life on hold with U-Haul. The rep acknowledged that I had been erroniously charged, and removed the offending auto-pay setting... but could not outright refund my money. You see, that priveledge resides with the manager. Only he may approve such an extraordinary request.
Two days later and no refund in sight, I called the corporate office number given to me by the previous rep. 40 minutes on hold. This rep put my request into three different processes, including something about the manager, the manager's manager, and some other such thing I don't give a fig about. At the end of this second hour lost in pursuit of a refund, I was informed that she, too, was powerless to actually refund my $110.55. No, that priviledge must still await the hand of the almighty manager.
And now I wait. I do not dare post this review until I get my $110.55 back. (Post will serve as evidence of my refund.) It's only reasonable to assume that U-Haul has some special level of hell prepared for me in advance. (And you?) Help ward-off these demons. Click 'Helpful' so they may know that others are watching...
Never in my life have I had the worst moving experience! It pains me to write this :( I have asked for a full refund and it has not been expedited. One gentleman was top notch and the other two were horrific! I ended up having to do the rest of the wok they did not complete due to lousy packing on their part of the truck! They were a total waste of time and money! I am a teacher, mom, and grandmother people! This is the truth and makes me very sad to have to write any of this.
Please see the email I sent them:
Dear Moving Help,
It pains me to have to write to you in order to inform you of a terrible experience. I was looking forward to helping my son, Aaron Bialek, get moving back into his home after the sale of his home fell through at the VERY LAST moment and he had already moved EVERYTHING out of his home.
Yesterday we had the worst possible experience with the men ( except ONE African American gentlemen that we believe in called Shy). Carlos and another thin Middle Aged African American man we horrid.
First of all, my son gave moving help EXACT and PRECISE information, room by room, storage facility, and apartment so that YOU ALL could formulate the BEST PLAN of action to get the job done. YOU ARE THE MOVING EXPERTS, not us!
That being said, this move was a disaster! You had the movers meet Aaron at the storage facility first and the two men haphazardly packed the moving truck, without care to his items, and not packing it in such a way to leave room for the furniture and boxes at the apartment.
Aaron tried to intervene as HE WAS HELPING THEM MOVE EVERYTHING AS WELL! The men did not follow his instructions to pack it properly and as a result, it had to be repacked! ( all on our DIME and cutting into the 4 hours that we hired the movers!
Upon arrival to the apartment, I, MYSELF inspected the truck and took the attached photos!
As you can see it was not packed correctly and left NO ROOM FOR THE BULKY AND HEAVY furniture items or boxes that needed to be moved as well.
The men were RUDE, all but the older gentleman called Shy. One man talked incessantly in a strange fashion, and the other was on his phone or on a smoke break most of the time!
Due to this negligence, instead of picking up at the storage facility and apartment in VA Beach and making ONE FINAL STOP at Shawboro, NC, we had to take the truck from Shawboro, NC BACK TO VA BEACH and MOVE ALL OF THE BOXES ourselves out of the apartment! Then travel back to Shawboro to unload one final time.
This is and was utterly ridiculous and unacceptable! I have launched a dispute with Uhal over the additional mileage that we will have to pay, and asking movinghelp.com for a 100% refund!
I am highly dissatisfied, should not have had to move anything, and most definitely should not have had to put up with two RUDE MEN!
I hope that you can rectify this situation fully and know this, I had Christmas cards prepared for each mover, as I really would have appreciated a job well done and tipped accordingly. However, the job was done horrifically, and truly did not deserve a THANK YOU. Upon leaving, the men make very rude remarks to my son. Totally unbelievable!
Please see the confirmation numbers for the job and in a subsequent email, see the photos!

Very FRUSTRATED CUSTOMERS,
Jennifer Upperco and Aaron Bialek
-My move was scheduled for Oct 22,2020, from 1-3 pm. I was moving from a high-rise apartment in Chicago and we only get the freight elevator for two hours. I informed Meryen City Moving of this. These are the movers I contracted through MovingHelp, which contracts through U-Haul. The following is an account of the worst move ever. NOTHING has been done except a lot of finger-pointing back and forth between U-Haul and MovingHelp.
-I called U-Haul the week of the move and asked to cancel one of the pods as I didn't need it. I really just needed one bed to be placed in my empty van and one pod loaded. I was informed that I should not cancel the second pod because there would be no charge if it was not loaded.
-This did not turn out to be true. Meryen City Moving expected $400 for their move. I don't blame them for that. It would have been their option to pass on my move if they knew that I didn't need the second pod. I do blame them for the rest of what happened:
- I was contacted by Meryen City Moving at 1:00 on Oct. 22 via telephone. They called from the drive-thru lane while ordering food (I could hear them ordering). They asked if it was OK if they got some food before coming over. I said yes, but reminded them that I only have the elevator for two hours – and those hours were already ticking away. D
- They called again at 2:00 from the U-Haul location where they were picking up the pod. The person at the U-Haul location refused to provide them two boxes because of the van they were using. I said that it was fine, I only needed one pod anyway and to please hurry.
- The movers showed up at 2:30. 1. 5 hours late. And they couldn't find the dock that I sent directions for and pictures of. I had to get in their van and ride with them down to the dock, an uncomfortable scenario at any time but especially during a pandemic.
- They blamed the man at the U-Haul location for showing up late.
- I asked them to move quickly and to take the boxes out first and to leave them on the dock, reminding them that I wouldn't lose the dock but I would lose the elevator if someone was scheduled behind me. We could pack everything after removing my belongings from my apartment.
- They did not do this. Instead, they loaded the boxes haphazardly into the pod. I went down to the dock and asked them to stop and to please go back upstairs and get the larger items out of the apartment. They ignored me and continued loading the boxes into the pod in a way that was clearly not going to work (see photo Photo ******* to see how they attempted to load the pod, making zero attempt to fit all of my belongings in the pod).
- At this point, I'm pleading with them to stop. I'm actually unloading the pod because it is clear that my belongings won't fit when packed the way they were doing it.
- They refused to move quickly. This resulted in a full-blown argument. I have never had a full-blown agreement with a stranger. This was really bad.
- I pleaded for them to get the bed out of the apartment as it is the biggest item, and I felt it needed to go into my empty van. Photo ******* happened after they finally brought the bed down and after I personally unloaded the boxes from the first photo. As anyone can see, the bed needed to go into my empty van for everything to fit.
- The guy knew I couldn't lift the bed. That is when he forced the promise of full payment. Only then would he put the bed in the van and remove the rest of my belongings from the home. And even that required an argument over the fact that the stuff wasn't all going to fit in the pod. He said "I know what I am doing". But he absolutely did not. The only thing he knew how to do well was to extort money out of a woman standing alone on a moving dock.
- I desperately promise to provide the full payment if they will only just get my belongings out of the apartment and load the U-Box correctly. I have no choice. My belongings are halfway downstairs on a dock and halfway upstairs in the apartment that I need to move out of. I am forced to pay them the full amount. My belongings are being held hostage.
- (By the way, the bed requires zero tools to disassemble the bed and they tried to charge me for that. Seriously, you just pull the bed apart. It is two pieces.)
- Now they are actually moving, but it's still pretty bad. I finally get them to put the bed in the van, all the while they are arguing with me.
- Photo ******* proves that I was right. That is the pod finally packed. The bed is in the van. There was no way to get it all in one pod. But the empty van was right there the whole time. They just didn't want to use it because they wouldn't get paid to do that.
- Of course, had they just loaded the pod + the bed in the van quickly, I would have tipped them and tipped them well. In this case, I gave them the code for their full funds (I want to emphasize that I had no choice) and, for the first time ever, I did not tip.
- They finally left at 6:30 pm. It took them four hours to load one pod. And they arrived 1.5 hours late.
- I've also included photos of the scratched floor they left behind when they moved a book case.
- Since my move, I have filed a complaint, but the buck has been passed. U-Haul sent me to Moving Help who sent me, unbelievably, back to the movers – actually connecting me with those same movers via email and asking us to work it out. Given how I have stated that my belongings were held hostage by these movers, I can't believe that was actually the response.
I booked 2 U-Haul Moving Containers (UBoxes) on U-Haul's website for July 31,2020. I used movers from their website, a sister company who provides moving services, Movinghelp.com. The company I choose was D. B. P. Moving. I called the company numerous times and there was no answer, finally I contacted U-Haul regarding canceling the movers and rebooking new movers (see email).
On Wednesday, July 30th I received a notification from Movinghelp.com that for D. B. P. Movers have been cancelled and the job amount will be refunded back to me via the payment method used. They refunded me $595.95.
On 7-30-2020 I booked a different mover, AstraMovers via movinghelp.com for a move the following day, July 31st. The boxes were not ready on the agreed day. I notified them in advance that my high-rise building does not allow moves after 4pm, also the building need to schedule all moves so that only 1 resident moves in 1 day to use to freight elevator. The movers called me to notify me that the box I reserved was not ready, thus, I had to change my move date to Monday, August 3rd and pay extra rent to my building for staying extra days. My building does not allow moves on the weekend. On August 3,2020 I received an email from Moving Help for Astra Movers in the amount of $680.35 would be refunded back to my credit card (attached).
The manager at U-Haul, Crystal DeLeon apologized for the boxes not being ready and said she was change the date and provide me a credit for $300 for the inconvenience. I was upset but decided to stay with U-Haul after they offered me a credit for their mistake.
I booked Diamond Quality Movers for Monday, August 3rd on the movinghelp.com website. Again, on Monday, the boxes were not ready in the morning at 9am as agreed upon. On August 3,2020 I received an email from Moving Help for Diamond Quality Movers in the amount of $590.95 would be refunded back to my credit card (attached).
The New Rochelle U-Haul located an hour further might have boxes but Crystal told me they weren't sure on the time. Because of the delay she said she would pay for the movers and booked J. Sutton Movers. They arrived 7 hours later than the agreed upon time and we barely made the cutoff to move. The New Rochelle location had boxes later in the evening and J Sutton Movers moved all of my items outside of the building while one person went to retrieve the boxes.
The manager at U-Haul agreed to refund me for the movers who were not used. They are a very dishonest company, trying to charge me $1,348.65 for a move which they agreed to pay for. Not only that, I was looking to pay $590-$680 for movers, not nearly triple the price.
Yesterday I experienced a moving nightmare, and I write to share my experience with you with hopes that it doesn't happen to others. Unfortunately, moving help has done nothing to ensure that it won't happen to their next costumer, so I encourage you to avoid this organization at all costs.
Well over a month ago, I made arrangments for Ubox delivery and load and unload services through movinghelp. I was connected with E & A Moving Company, who I spoke with when the order was placed. They told me they would arrive at 11:30am on June 30. I received a confirmation for these services from Movinghelp via text on June 29. On June 30 at 8:15am, I spoke with E & A to confirm that they were coming later that day. They said they would arrive with my Uboxes in the middle of the day, though they said they had not received info about where to get my Uboxes. I was able to give them that info via the moving help website, and they assured me they would call and confirm this with the local Uhaul location. At 1:30pm, E & A hadn't arrived so I called them again to check in. They said they would be heading my way shortly from the next town over, and expected to arrive around 2pm. 2pm came and went. At 4pm, I called them twice, and received no answer. I suspected that something was amiss, so I called the local Uhaul store. They confirmed that my uboxes had never been picked up. I called E & A again, and for the third time, they did not answer. Because MovingHelp had closed for the day (it was now 4:30p), I called Uhaul. They told me that if I wanted to make new reservations for today, the lowest cost moving help would be over $1100--more than twice the cost of my original moving help. This is no doubt due to the fact that I had to do this at the last minute, after being stood up. I had no choice but to move forward with this high-cost option. The one-day delay on my move also meant that I will receive my storage boxes three days later than originally scheduled, which is a significant and unquantifiable inconvenience for me.
Today, after waiting on hold for nearly half hour, I spoke with someone at moving help. She told me that moving help would not pay any of the difference in cost for my new moving services, and worse still, they would continue to work with E & A moving company. In other words: they would do absolutely nothing about my experience. Not even a symbolic gesture of remorse or concern. As I told the agent, I cannot in good conscience recommend movinghelp to anyone if there is no recourse for egregious situations such as my own.
I can't put a review for this Arizona company, so I'll put it here. I changed the date, they charged me $15 more, said it was movers just increasing price in the 2 to 4 minutes, movers said No. Took several calls "No, won't credit you," finally got it credited. Had a move I had to change date. I had to schedule a minimum of 2 hours load and 2 hours unload, called the movers because I didn't think I needed 2 hours on both load/unload, they said to cancel one order. I did, so there was only one move, the load. The mover said it did not cancel, stayed with me by phone until it did, Later he told me it cancelled. Then they could not find my location, because I cancelled, however I cancelled the unload, not the load, but Moving Help got the wrong oen cancelled. After the job was complete, it was only $400. I paid per their system with the mover. Checked my credit cards, to find Moving help charged me twice, I was charged $400 plus $45.95 which I found on the moving help site from my credit card. I noticed the site no longer showed the cancelled order, it had 2 load/unloads for $200 each = $400, added $40 on, and their usual $5.95. The mover only showed a of $400. I was charged twice, they never cancelled nor credited me. I called and could not reach them, they close at 3:30,2 hours behind makes 1:30. I acutally called them before to confirm and could never get through since they close early. So frustrating you cannot reach them, I asked the mover, he said it was only $400 on his end, however it showed another $459.95, the charge on my credit card = total of $845.95 on my cards. Nothing in the site that showed a credit, a cancellation given. Never processed the movers together, so I got charged a separate charge.
To this home: My previous loading from SC to GV, Calfironia: Unload movers were good, the ones on the loadd end were sick, loaded furniture so it was all over the place and got damaged, pottery almost all my tables, did not use my blankets, as asked, did not finish the job, asked for $125 tip, and left a lot of heavy things in the apartment, were sick, having diareah all over my bathroom a few times, stinking up the bathroom I was hoping to get a securty deposit refund on, were sweating and slowed way down after 30 minutes, did not finish the job, damaged all but one table, and my pottery. The job wasn't done, they took off and left an hour of moving stuff. Sacramento unloaders were fantastic, so I was going to choose them, but had to change the time and found good movers this time, but a crooked MovinHelp!
*** I wanted to leave a review for both of them, but my account was gone, I called and they said it no longer existed. ***Today, I log in again, and see the entire load/unload recorded.
On this last load/unload, they put the two jobs back up after there was only one job, after I cancelled it and saw that, and the mover saw it as complete on his end, and later couldnf find my house because of the cancellation. They stuck it back on and charged me $459.95 I would not have known about, had I not checked my credit cards. They are trying to charge me $845.95 total for a job that only cost $400. The movers only see $400 on their side. I left them a message because I cannot reach them in PST, they close at 1:30 my time. They never processed the completion of the unload on their site, so they charged me two separate charges. Yes, I have tried to contact them several times to confirm what took place, then today I found two charges, the very first job of $200 was cancelled, but not this job the mover had me remove after I called and said I didn't think I needed that much. Crooks. Then I read the reviews, and I am not going to work with people who make it so hard to get one's money back which I need to keep moving into my new place upcoming, that is taken from my credit card, and not showing any information of a credit nor refund, after all the attempts to call them to confirm, all the negative reviews, NO EMAIL, NO VOICEMAIL, CLOSE AT 1:30 PST, I left one on their site. Impossible to contact!
My husband and I scheduled our move from Cleveland to Chicago more than a week in advance using movinghelp.com to set up movers on both sides for a total of about $300 in labor. The day of our move, the movers we scheduled in Cleveland called to ask to push back the time an hour. We said no problem. Then they called to say they were on their way and would be there in an hour. We said great. Then they no showed and would not answer our calls. We waited for four hours and then had to scramble to find same day movers, which--because they were scheduled same-day--were FAR more expensive. (Note that if people no show on you there is no way to give them a negative review because as far as moving help is concerned, there was no job to review.)
Fast forward to Chicago. On the way in to Chicago I call to confirm our movers in Chicago, because of our bad experience in Cleveland. They confirm. We arrive with the Uhaul in the city... call the movers... his people aren't answering the phone and he says he can't complete the job and we need to cancel our order. So we're stuck in Chicago, with no realistic long-term parking situations, with a Uhaul and no movers in sight. We schedule new same day movers (again at a FAR more expensive price because now we have to schedule same day)... same day movers call us and say that despite moving help saying they had availability, they can't come until 11 pm (seven hours later) and we should cancel our order and try someone else. We schedule a second set of same day movers... same issue. Finally, we find a third set of same day movers who can at least come by 8 pm (four hours later than our originally schedule time). We pay even more than the same day fee to have those movers bring an extra helper because now we are moving in outside of condo-approved hours and are risking fines and want to move as quickly as possible. We survive the move. (Shout out to Mountain Movers and Arsineo who did a great job and saved our sanity... barely.)
The next day we realize that on top of spending over $200 more on same-day movers because everyone we scheduled early canceled on us, Uhaul and moving help did not appropriately refund the money they "held" to reserve our NO SHOW MOVERS. After 2 hours on the phone with customer service representatives who ACKNOWLEDGED THAT WE DID NOT GET THE APPROPRIATE REFUNDS and assured us that they documented every charge and failure to refund and that our issue (which the customer service agent said was terrible and not a typical experience) would be elevated to the management and resolved within a week, we have still heard nothing months later and have been unable to get anyone to follow up on our claim.
This service is a sham and Uhaul should be ashamed. We will never use Uhaul services again I will be reporting Uhaul and movinghelp to the Better Business Bureau and various consumer protection resources. Save yourself and book your own movers separately.
