MiniIntheBox are scammers - dont use them!
June 26, 2018

MiniInTheBox are scammers.

I bought bunion pads for my feet. After 60 days the package hadnt arrived. I contacted the company and they told me the courier had returned it to them. I asked them for a refund and they refused to give it to me.

They said it my responsibility to contact the courier and said that I owed them the cost of the return mail sent to them!

I couldnt believe it! How could I contact the courier when I didnt know they had my package?

They refused to give me a refund... AND they charged me for their courier cost!

Scammers!

Here is the customer service email sent by them:

Dear Shanti Clements,

Unfortunately this are the information from the delivery company. They should have tell you to pick up the package. Remember that we are not a shipping company, so this type of problem you really should talk with delivery company. We are simply passing the info that was gave to us:

2018-06-04 13:30
United Arab Emirates, Al Badaa Post Office, ( Return to sender) - Mail not claimed and sent back to sender - Dispatched to processing office

Please understand that in this case we can only refund the product price. Also because the package was returned to us, the courier charged us the return shipping fee, which will be deducted from your payment. Therefore, we will issue the refund of AED 9.27 to you.Or we can make a reshipment; in which case you would be responsible for payment of shipping fees AED 8.79

Please indicate in your next answer which of the two solutions you prefer.

We appreciate your understanding and hope that we can serve you again in the near future.

Sincerely,
Joana

Disgusting scammers

UPDATE:

As a result of my public notification of the issues below there have been developments and I think it's only fair to update this.

Not longer after posting this review (and many others) I was contacted by a representative from MiniInTheBox who was now much more interested in assisting me with my issue.

As is fairly obvious from below, this was a situation that should never have occurred and if it did, should have been resolved long before I felt the need to take action regarding it.

Nevertheless, I cannot over-emphasise how helpful my new dealings with Flora were, and she (I assume) did everything I required to resolve the situation. Ultimately, she organised that I could simply keep the wrong sized item (ie save me the hassle of returning it and waiting for a refund on the postage) and she organised a full refund for the wrong item back to my PayPal account, which I have now received.

In my opinion Flora went above and beyond what she needed to in ensuring I didn't need to return the item, but more so in her customer service towards me, which was exponentially better than anything I had received from them up until that point. I would have preferred to not have had this experience, but I am pleased to report that eventually the company did the right thing.

I should also point out, I'm actually very happy with the watch band too, it looks great and seems at this point to be a quality product, so had I not had this issue I probably would have given these guys very high marks.

As it is, I can't give them full marks, but Flora and the quality of the product have gone a long way to redeeming the company, and as such I'm prepared to upgrade the rating from 1 star to a 4.

It is unfortunate that a public shaming is sometimes the only way to get the basic service you require but never forget as a consumer you deserve a level of service and if you don't get it you can, and should, always take action.

---

This is by far the worst shopping experience I've ever had. Upon ordering and paying for an Apple watch band I realised I'd mistakenly ordered the 38mm, which was useless. So I IMMEDIATELY cancelled the order and in good faith ordered the 42mm size. I assumed that, like any Ecomm company ever they would have no issue simply cancelling my order.

But no.

Imagine my shock when, 3 hours later, the order status went from Pending to Shipped! I contacted them again and when they finally got back to me they told me it was too late to cancel the order as it had shipped!

That's right. They shipped an order they knew to be cancelled, and refused to refund me on that basis! DESPITE me already purchasing the correct item off them.

Despite all their stated policies and assurances they take your money and run. It's even more galling given that I assumed it would be fine and ordered the right item - so I've effectively paid double the price.

Simply, this is a scam. They pretend you have the option to cancel an order but you don't. They will simply ship the item and shrug their shoulders.

The processes, customer service, dispute resolution and general ethics of this company are the worst I've ever dealt with. Being involved in designing and developing ecomm websites myself this blows my mind. It is a basic, fundamental - and obvious - process that you DO NOT SHIP and item that a customer has raised a ticket on - as it's probably a cancellation.

The company themselves, in their pathetic customer service, acknowledged they sent the item 3 hours after cancellation. I have all the screen shots. But their resolution was, get this... a 5% refund. (!)

It's a terrible way to treat an honest, first time customer and I will most certainly never buy from you again. I would definitely urge other people to also steer well clear of this cheating scumbag mob.

False product description (waterproof phone cover) and delivery options
April 22, 2017

I attempted to buy a waterproof cover for my Samsung Galaxy J1 phone from this company.

I ordered a product that was described as a waterproof cover, but when it arrived it was just a back cover with no waterproofing function whatsoever. The front of the phone was fully exposed and there was no waterproof covering over the camera lens, flash, the rear speaker, or any of the buttons.

As Mini-in-the-Box advertises a non-waterproof version of the cover that I ordered (at a lower price), I assumed that they had sent me the non-waterproof cover by mistake. I put this to them and they agreed to send me a second waterproof cover without requiring me to return the incorrect one. When I received the second cover it was exactly the same as the first one! I then realised that they dont have a waterproof cover available, and that their advertising for a waterproof cover is false.

I pointed this out to them and told them that they must remove or correct their advertising, but they have not done so this cover is still advertised as waterproof on their website. I can only assume that this is because there is a lot of interest in a waterproof phone cover, so this generates a lot of orders, and when most people receive the non-waterproof cover they simply throw it away and put their poor experience down to dealing directly with foreign suppliers.

I reviewed the phone cover on the Mini in the Box website to warn potential purchasers that the cover isnt waterproof, but they refuse to publish my review. This explains how a product that fails to perform one of its major promoted functions gets five stars on their webpage they simply dont publish or count negative reviews.

Another important issue with Mini in the Box is that I paid extra for the shipping method Postal Expedited (5 - 8 business days) as I am travelling around Australia, which makes it hard to coordinate delivery with my location. However, in both case the delivery took over three weeks, so I wasted my money paying for 5 - 8 business days, and it was a difficult process getting hold of the (incorrect) products when they were delivered as I had moved on.
On the positive side: the non-waterproof covers that I received were well made and fitted very well. However, they were of no use to me as I already had a simple back cover, so I gave them away.

The after sales service from Mini in the Box was very good. I placed many customer service tickets with them and the response was acceptably fast. I received an uncountable number of apologies for my inconvenience, they immediately agreed to send me a no-charge replacement when it appeared that they had sent me the wrong product, and they refunded my money promptly when I determined that they could not supply the product that they advertised.

Of course, no amount of good after-sales service make up for falsely advertising the product and delivery time, and the months of massive frustration this has brought to me.

Terrible service and no way to contact them-Update, now resolved
October 10, 2016

Now resolved, they have reimbursed this order after this review. I ordered this part on 7th September 2016 along with a phone case. The delivery time quoted was "5-8 business days". I have checked My Orders and find that the part wasn't even shipped until 23rd September 2016 and I still haven't received it as at 10th October 2016. I also note that the other part I ordered (and my main requirement!) has not been processsed because it is out of stock and not to be restocked! This may have been why it took 12 working days to post the other part of the order. I haven't received any emails from you about this (despite receiving plenty of marketing messages from you!) so I only found out by looking at the My Orders section on the website. I then find out that not only that but you haven't even credited my card! As I ordered both parts together to make the postage cost worthwhile, I now am in a situation where I have paid over the odds for the part I ordered as a by-product of my original order, the postage being more than the parts! Had I been given the information that the part was out of stock I wouldn't have ordered the other part and saved myself the hassle of having to chase the parts and the credit. Altogether a very unsatisfactory experience! Please can you advise when the parts will be delivered and expedite the outstanding credit immediately. I look forward to hearing from you. Can you please explain why I wasn't told of either of these points. I can't even post this on their site because it says that my email isn't confirmed but when I request a resend of the confirmation email I don't get an email, despite the aforementioned marketing messages going straight to my inbox! I have checked my Junk mail box too and still nothing. Aarrgghh!

The concept of a product meeting a specification is foreign
September 21, 2016

I can't tell whether the sales people just have difficulty with English, or just don't know anything about the products they are selling. I purchased two LED light bulbs that were advertised as 9W devices. When received, they consumed less than 4W when driven by 12VDC and the full wave bridge rectifiers were only operating in one direction so clearly defective. Both lamps exhibited the same failure mode.
Customer service was quick to ship a new set but did not send me any tracking information. But in due time (16 or so days depending on when you think they actually shipped) they arrived. This time the rectifiers work but the LEDs are still 5W devices claiming to be 9W bulbs. And when delivered, one of the bulbs had fallen apart (or was never fully assembled) and I could see that the LED substrate was labeled "5W".
In LED lamps, heat rejection is critical so a thermal path from the LED substrate to the heat sink is critical for long life. In this case there is no thermal compound or adhesive between the LED and the case so it is only held in place by tension on the electrical wires and the back of the lens keeps it from getting too far from the heat sink. This is not enough to keep it cool. While it is an interesting design, it is not a product that matches the claim for how much power it consumes or how much light it puts out. And customer service seems to be at a loss as to how to deal with this reality.

The appropriate solution is to change the product description on the web site to say that they are 5W LED bulbs and not 9W bulbs and to insist that the manufacturer provide test data to support the life projection.

I am impressed with the customer focused attitude, but I am not totally satisfied that they have a preemptive approach to quality. It is worth noting that this is my first order and it is only one item type among many that they carry so it is possibly an anomaly. But I will be more cautious and inquisitive before I order again.

For the product that was delivered, the price per lumen is comparable to very high quality Cree bulbs available off-the-shelf at Home Depot which come with a three year warranty and do not have a 16-day delivery delay. So there is not a huge price advantage for buying what is (in my opinion) a lesser quality product.

DONT BUY FROM THE WEBSITE RIP OFF
July 11, 2016

I placed an order for 76,20 pounds. I ordered I few things for my car like for example:
Car charger adapter, plastic antenna, car seat cover, an sticker, wheel cover etc.
The thing is, that DHL send me a text saying that now I need to pay 36 pounds for the parcel... The funny thing is that after I went to check the prices of the the items on ebay and (aliexpress) and they cost more on the mininthebox (My mistake for not searchin enough), They make you think that they are giving you an amazing discount, and they cost 2 to 3 up to 5 times more in price an I can prove it. Now, why don't they put less value on the items so people don't pay tax like
All Chinese webs do? Now with the 36 pounds extra I ended up payng 4 times and even more for the price for every item... On top of that, I wanted to change the address and it doesn't work the web option an there is nobody to talk to (WHEN THERE IS NOT lIVE CHAT OR SOME CONTACT THERE IS A REASON... "" PEOPLE DONT BUY FROM THEM, INSTEAD BUY FROM EBAY OR SPECIALLY FROM ALIEXPRESS, THERE YOU CAN CONTACT THEM LIVE AND DO INSTAND CHAT WITH YOUR PHONE AND YOU GET LOYALTY POINT AND QUICK REFUNDS AND IF YOU WANT A QUICK DELIVERY JUST PAY A SMALL DIFERENCE AND MORE IMPORTANTLY yOU WILL NEVER PAY DUTY TAX. YOU CAN COMPARE THE PRICES BEFORE THERE IM NOT JOKING OR LUYING, BEST MISTAKE EVER, I WILL NEVER BUY AGAIN FROM THESE WEB TOTAL RIP OFF

Today Monday 18 of july a receive a phone call from (CHINA) telling me that they refunded me the 36 pounds duty tax that i had to pay to DHL, A DIRECT PHONE CALL never happened before, also they asked me if i could remove the review o write something about the refund, what i didnt know till today, is that my review has been very helpful for others. Anyway these is
My expirience with the web and im sharing it.
I almost forgot to say that the send me a car air refreshing separate from the parcel because if the liquid inside, these its going to arrived to my old adress with i have not idea when, and dont even know if they will receive the parcel and im gonna waste time and petrol having to go there and see if it arrived. Wich I assumed i wont bother and its gonna be i lost.
