I have found that Midtown Comics are committed to shipping valuable comics to International customers in USPS Flat Rate Envelopes without the necessary protection of its contents and in full knowledge that these comics may suffer damage in transit.
Myself and others before me, have suffered loss from this inconsiderate and unethical policy.
Took order for Topps Chrome on May 4th. No communication whatsoever, and upon release day 8/1 no order shipped. When I chatted online, was told release day was changed to 8/29 which was a LIE. Then a new chat said that my order was cancelled. Now to replace the items, I would have to pay over $200 more. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY
I finally had to walk away with all dealings with Midtown. I am surprised Companies like Marvel allow them to be an extension of their brand.
Horrible customer customer, not worth the headache your better off going to your local comic shop. These guys suck
I had a subscription to Amazing Spider-Man, I wrote to the subscription service managed by Midtown Comics because I didn't receive the number 17.
Of course, to know that the number 17 would not arrive I had to first receive the 18, this took three months, because I'm an international customer.
Midtown Comics answered was that after ten weeks they do not accept complaints.
I replied that I absolutely do not agree with their policy because to know that I do not receive a number, I must first receive the next one and if this takes more than ten weeks, the fault is not mine.
I also wrote that at this point, I would have cancelled the automatic renewal and at the end of the subscription, I would not have renewed again.
They replied with a formal email, without any wish to solve the problem and even worse, they cancelled my subscription immediately without I have asked for it.
After about ten years of subscription, I have been treated this way; I am very disappointed with the Marvel subscription system managed by Midtown Comics. After over forty years of reading Marvel comics, I will stop buying any of your products. I prefer the memory of the genuine Marvel of the past.
I love midtown comics. I'v been going to their store in NYC since i was a kid. The first time you shop on their app they give you a 20% off code so that is nice. Overall the site is ok. Could be designed better but it's still simple enough to find what you want. So to sum up, if you want a comic or comic related item, you can probably find it on the site
I am editing my original review. I think Midtown is amazing for the occasional damaged order. But on the bright side. They are always willing to fix things that went wrong.
I places preview orders sent to my address overseas over several years, but Midtown kept messing them up. I carefully ordered no more than 17 issues per biweekly package, because it's hard to get more than that in an international priority flat-rate envelope, but Midtown kept trying to send three or four weeks worth of comics at a time and then canceling my order because it wouldn't fit.
I ended up switching to MyComicShop.com, which has great customer service, and I ordered the issues that Midtown failed to send me from MyComicShop. Then I stopped ordering from Midtown.
And that's when my problems with Midtown REALLY started.
Two months after I stopped ordering anything from Midtown, they started sending me issues from old previews--preview orders that were placed over three months earlier--one at a time and charging me $37 for shipping PER ISSUE valued at under $4. That's insane.
I wrote to them begging them to close my account so this wouldn't happen again, but they refused, saying I have to cancel preview items when their app has no way to do that!
Midtown's customer service is beyond atrocious. Do yourself a favor and choose MyComicShop instead.
Consistently receive comics in poor shape, sometimes shredded INSIDE THE PACKAGE, so no blaming the postal service. Never on time. The customer service is a joke.
Answer: Easy to get in touch with them, impossible to get a coherent response. Even if they tell you they fixed something, based on my experience, it is still screwed up.
