I was a customer for a few years and bought about 5 individual crates a year when I see a theme I like. I got the crates about 1 to 3 months after purchase without issue. I was satisfied with most of it as my expectation was that I was buying surprise bag with geek themes and that is what I got.
The items that I received were of decent quality and of course, some were totally useless for me but that is normal as I did not know 80% of what I bought, that is kind of the point. But some few items were more akin to promotional stuff than collector items (Like a very normal beer opener with the logo of a game printed on the side, or a very normal protein shake bottle with some game logo printed on it).
At this point, I would have given 4 stars.
But since the Pandemic, something went wrong there. There was ridiculous delays without any plausible explanation or compensation (I asked, gave them a chance to make it right, and there was none). I ordered 2 crates in December 2021 and got one (A Loot Gaming Crate) July 2022. There was the minimum items in it, which as the main item featured in the crate, a shirt and a pin. There was no surprise in that except for the visual of the shirt and the pin. They slapped inside a coupon for an obscure mobile game premium currency which looks more like an ad to me than actually something I should have paid for. I feel like shrinkflation hit them and as these are 'surprise' crates, nothing stops them to reduce the amount of stuff inside at their leisure if they want to reduce costs. They heavily advertise past crates which were worth it but that does not guarantee you will get as much or as nice stuff as these currently.
What made me stop purchasing crates was the other create I bought in December 2021 which was the special Crate for Tiny Tina's Wonderlands that is a game that was to release in March 2022 (So 4 months after the purchase), it was (and still is) advertised as 'to celebrate the launch' of the game. So I figured I would have my stuff by the time the game will launch in March.
4 months after the release, still not received it.
That kind of defeated the point of the crate that was bought when the hype for the game was there but 4 months later, the hype is long gone as this is a game quickly finished (about 15 hours of game time).
That felt like ordering a birthday cake and receive it 6 months after the birthday. It can still taste good, but that mean there was a birthday without a cake and a cake without a birthday. And as I said, there was no compensation for it.
So, I would advise to only buy from them if you do not care about kickstarter-level delays, bad communication and possible disappointment on surprise items. Or if you have money to burn, obviously. Better take that money and ask a friend to buy stuff for you with it and make you a surprise bag than paying Lootcrate to do it. If you do not care about the surprise, just go buy derived products you want directly, they don't give you more than what you paid for the crate and you will surely have stuff in it you would have never chosen to buy.
In my personal opinion. I think this is currently a company that focus on easy-to-please customers and those who do not care that much about what they get for their money and put a lot more energy in marketing their stuff and get first-time customers than actually making it a great experience for people who already bought something. Probably why this feels like a scam/trap for some people, especially the ones who bought yearly plans. I think there are companies out there that deserve attention a lot more than they do. Maybe one day they will be ok (as they were in the past), but currently, be warned about how they want to be perceived and what they actually are.
Individual Loot Gaming Crates & Game-related special crates.
I purchased my first Loot Crate subscription about two months ago - and, idiotically purchased a 1-year/6 box subscription. On their website, it said the particular crate is supposed to ship out and be received by subscribers between the 15th and 25th of odd-numbered months. So I was expecting to get a shipping notification a couple of weeks ago... which never came. I waited, waited - nothing. Finally, when the 23rd rolled around, I thought wth and checked my Loot Crate account. ZERO TRACKING INFORMATION - clearly, the box hadn't been shipped. So I sent them a message and, wouldn't you know, I get this fake-saccharine reply saying, oh yeah we're running behind schedule. DID THEY THINK TO NOTIFY ME OF THIS? NOOOO, of course not. So I immediately replied and said that I was not okay with this method of doing business, that if they were running late they should be sending out an email to all the subscribers informing them of the delay instead of just leaving people hanging. I also said that since this was my first experience with Loot Crate, and the first box of that first subscription, this didn't imbue me with any faith in the company and that, as a result, I wanted to cancel my subscription for a full refund. Did I get a response to that? NO, OF COURSE NOT. I even started a complaint with the Better Business Bureau - to which, again unsurprisingly, the company hasn't even bothered responding. Instead, today, I get an auto-generated message telling me the first box is on the way. Not only will I NEVER EVER sign up for another subscription with Loot Crate, I'm going to make it my personal business to tell anyone and everyone what a shady, dishonest, disreputable company they are. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY WITH THIS COMPANY!
You better not be expecting to get what you paid for in any manner at the times outlined on the website; and don't expect the company to give a hoot about your concerns either.
My son started a loot crate subscription back about 5 months ago. He recently canceled it and thought he had done it two months ago. He had been charged the last two months so he went on their website to look for a contact number or email to ask why it had not been canceled. All he could get was a voice recording telling him to leave a message on their message board that it would be the best way to get someone to contact him. He did so and explained that he was being charged for months he had already canceled. He also said that hed wanted a refind to what he was charged because it caused his bank account to be over drawn. So far we have received several phone calls that are to say the least unprofessional. I have been screamed at, told to $#*! up and told I was stupid. As a business owner I know that is not a way to talk to a customer even if they are being unreasonable. Its benn my experience if that happens to just tell the customer in a nice way that you will try to tesolve the problem as best you can but not loot crate. They also told my son that he was going to be sued for slander because of the message he left if he didnt remove it. We both tried to remove it by the way they told us to and couldnt do it that way. When we told loot crate that it couldnt be done that way they told us that it wasnt their problem because a third party handled the messages that you could leave on THER website and that we would have to contact the third party to remove it. I asked to talk to a supervisor and was told that he wasnt there at the time. Convenient right! I was called and screamed at again and also talked to a so called legal representative from them and told we would be sued for liable. I told them that if a company sued every time it got a bad review that the courts would be full. We are being harassed and lied to and I am tired of it. They have scared my son to death. He is only 20 and hasnt had any experience with someone telling him that so he was convicted at first that they were going to sue him. I reassured him this was just a scam and to not worry about it. If anyone else is thinking of dealing with them, DONT! They are a scam and are not to be beloved about anything. Hope this helps and also read the previous reviews as they tell of the same problems and more.
I just wanted to warn people about buying from www.lootcrate.com - they are very shady and unethical, and should not be trusted. They are a USA-based vendor out of California and focus on pop-culture themed goodie boxes. This is not a review of their products, but of their service and business conduct.
I placed an order in mid-July. After waiting a month and a half for the items to ship (because they are "busy"), I received two tracking numbers. My orders were ~$17 and ~$12 respectively, plus shipping. I paid in full via PayPal. When I received the tracking number (Canada Post) it indicated the order was shipped COD requesting $17 and $14 for each package on delivery. Given the orders were already paid in full, I was concerned. Upon contacting LC they provided the below responses. Best I can interpret is that they are trying to pass along their additional costs to me. After checking out I should only be responsible for the amount they collect (which should cover all their costs), and potentially duty/taxes by the courier as it enters Canada, which will be paid to and collected by the carrier. This COD fee is quite clearly a cash grab in addition to the invoice amount. If I am not mistaken, this is the equivalent of Best Buy or any other retailer shipping your items after you pay then demanding a COD fee because their product actually cost them more when they imported it this time round.
Watch out, these guys are a bunch of crooked scumbags. Here are some updates. They are trying to charge me a COD fee to collect my item as it cost them "additional costs" to get the items. I have never had such a terrible experience in taking well over a month to actually ship the item, then try to charge me additional fees and try to pass it off as "duty" on my end.

Hi -
The COD charge in question is a VAT fee imposed by customs and the shipping vendor and was not included as part of the charge billed at the time of purchase. This happens occasionally with some Loot Vault items and I do apologize for this confusion and inconvenience.
The charge itself is not an issue usually with orders tied to Loot Crate subscriptions; we are able to offer reimbursements for these fees when imposed on a shipment from a subscription because the VAT fee is 'built' into the membership fee billed to you as part of your subscription plan. This is not a part however of the individual purchase price billed on purchases made on the Loot Vault gift site. This is likewise noted on the Loot Vault site under the "How It Works" section.
I'm very sorry for the confusion and any inconvenience or frustration it has caused; unfortunately we are not able to control how strict customs agencies will be in any country nor the fees they may impose on incoming shipments. For future orders if you do not wish to pay this fee you can refuse the shipment and it will be returned to us; once received at our warehouse our returns team can issue a refund for the cost of your order back to you. I can assure you we are working every day to improve this process and I have forwarded your comments to our management and shipment teams for additional review and consideration as we continue to develop a resolution for this specific issue with Loot Vault orders.
Once again our apologies; please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.
Thank you.

Hi -
I'm sorry to hear this. I assure you my reply was in no way intended to suggest or imply anything other than to provide as much information about this matter as possible. My apologies if my previous message was not received in the manner it was intended.
Unfortunately, we do not pay the COD charges up front; the charges are assessed by our Carrier as they pass through customs and then those costs are passed along to you the Looter. My sincerest apologies that this was not made clear on the Loot Vault site. We are always looking to improve the Looter experience, and I will make sure to pass along your feedback to our management, fulfillment and shipment teams respectively.
As indicated however this is not a fee imposed by Loot Crate but rather one determined by the shipping vendor making the delivery to you. If you do not wish to pay this fee, as noted you are welcome to refuse the shipment and once received at our warehouse we can issue a refund for the original order to you at that time.
Once again my apologies for this misunderstanding; please let me know if I can assist with any other questions or concerns about your order.
Thank you.

Buyer beware. Just wanted to post this in the event anyone else gets suckered in by their coupon stacking and "deals".
Avoid at all costs!
There may be a way for all of you who are getting Auto billed after you unsubscribe. To recover the money and stop it from happening to others as well. When I saw the commercial on TV. I figured it was probably some kind of gag so I checked the internet seeing all of your complaints. But this building your credit cards even temporary cards after you told them not to. May be easy to stop. Now I cannot give you legal advice but I might make a suggestion to all of you. 1 is file a complaint with the federal consumer complaint agency and your state consumer affairs agency. But first call your credit card company or your bank whichever their billing tell them that you have not authorize these charges almost all credit cards agencies have a unauthorized billing procedure. As a consumer when I see these complaints myself they seem to me to be credit fraud by the company. Now that's my own opinion and not a statement of legal facts. But I had some bizarre things happen with Amazon that borderlines worse than you guys have experienced and I'm still trying to straighten out my digital record after they screwed up my credit card and a few other major issues that have the same my digital character and all the actions on this account where their responsibility but that's another story I'm currently telling people to boycott Amazon and use eBay for jet at least if you have major problems you won't have your account shut down and more than likely have your character defamed by false accusations when Amazon computer screwed my account up so much that for three months I couldn't get an order out and every order I give yet was damaged or missing things eventually my account was shut down and I lost quite a bit because of these people I'm currently still trying to recover damages but unfortunately I lost the temporary cards activation number so Amazon and got away with it. So far. But as for this company. You people who have told them to remove your subscription and keep getting your account build you do have recourse and it will be pretty fast in solution. File complaint with your credit company first or your bank let them know that this is something they can check on the internet. To see that this is a common and possibly intentional practice by the company that's billing you. ECT... I'm kind of surprised that some of you never thought of this already butt I could tell this was a Shady operation when I saw the commercial in my opinion of course. And checking the internet I found out through all of you that I was probably right. Now I may not be able to do anything at this time about what Amazon scams did to me. Butt maybe my advice can help some of you. Just so all of you know that Amazon has 39 complaints registered over the last two years with the business consumer Alliance Group and have not answered as of January of last year any complaints against it. And have forced me to seek legal counsel to recover my digital reputation and defamation of my character.! And have refused to respond in any way to my complaints I'm stealing my ideas for advertising and having its computer take money out of my account order is being processed repeatedly for three months. Period making my digital records messed up behind comprehension and possibly my reputation severely damaged by their actions and their refusal to correct issues and list them properly. And being a missionary I have virtually no resources to pay an attorney to get back my reputation although my case is well-documented both digitally and with records recordings ECT. At this time Amazon probably owes me at least $10,000 for stealing my advertising idea using it and then refusing to respond for my request to take it down until they compensated not only have they destroyed my reputation and digitally and my honesty is the most important part of my life now that my Foundation is set up and operating their digital screw-ups could have backed its reputation as well. I hope that my ideas for you people out there. Will help you avoid things like this there problems you're having with this company Loot Crate. And remember some basics before ordering from a company do some checking like I just did with this one. If more people did that companies like this wouldn't have the money to advertise to scam the world if that's what they're intending to do. Only only you the public know if you leave you were skin door not since I've never shop with this company I can have no opinion about loot crate's activities. Other than if what I read is true these things that I suggested are things that I would do mediately if I were the consumer that made the complaints. Remember I cannot give legal advice because I am not an attorney. Nor is this meant to be any suggestions other than my personal opinion. Issues I've experienced in the past myself and steps I've taken to correct issues similar to the ones I see Happening Here according to the consumer complaints. I do know that the state and federal agencies that deal with consumer issues are very good at their jobs Aldo under state level they usually don't have enforcement capabilities of the law s retain pertaining to these issues but if enough complaints were filed with state and federal Offices something could get accomplished more than likely. If you'd like to know more about the charity that we have just started we have big plans for helping people around the world and starting spiritually neutral classes in schools Nationwide to help people find their true spiritual format without religious ties but with self-improvement an understanding of who they are and what they're capable of in a non material sense of existence. If you'd like to know more about this Grand idea and possibly become involved we have a $1 donation drive going on! We don't believe that you should be paying a month mysterious picture which I personally have heard it many times duplicated two different individuals the same pictures exedra all Charities that we promote will have to follow a set of guidelines that are like it used to be instead of 4 profit of individual agents within the organization we will only be using what is necessary four basic needs and promoting traveling mobile feeding services and even a fund 4 people who may need Legal Services but have no resources to pay for the initial attorney fees to start a case. At this time we have three main goals to get a charity registration list that can be checked by anyone at anytime dad has agreed to give services is there at least 98% of their funds donated for charitable purposes by people are actually produced to the people they're supposed to be serving and not themselves ECT Charities should give services to promote and start schools in the United States and possibly other countries that gather all spiritual data and teach all ancient cultures knowledge on an individual basis based on the person and their spiritual abilities and enhancements and we believe that are dollar sponsors are just as important if not more important then in 1995 a month sponsor blah blah blah... Our goal drive right now is to find volunteers to help with computer issues ECT. Generate ideas and help us find Charities that need exposure to the public Nationwide and worldwide our goal is to become the largest charity oversight Commission on the planet I've seen how some of these Charities operate on a global scale and I've been kind of insulted by watching One feeding organizations say that this woman child can't eat until you sponsor her and then in the background you see them getting Oliver Twist style food from the workhouse and that's where your millions of dollars are buying and actually feeding to the starving what's really going on with your millions of dollars donations I'm sure these people are eating this slop they're feeding to there Outreach programs. We Believe that 6 million $1 donators having a say in our sponsorship committee could generate not only ideas but Insight on the real needs going on around the world and especially in the communities around our country. You'd like to know more.? Please note you can choose the area your dollar donation is put into. This way your will becomes our will after all it's about time that you know what's happening with your donation funds when you're trying to help others.
