Long and McQuade is the Walmart of Canadian music stores. I've never once stepped in a Long and McQuade excited to spend money; these shops are a necessity in my general life when the competition is even worse than they are. Between broken strings that they won't refund on the date of purchase (because it's my issue to resolve, apparently, not theirs to shrink), instruments they tell me aren't available for rent but I see someone renting the exact instrument from the exact same shop, the abysmal customer service, horrible buy-back program (they screw you when you sell it back to them, then screw the customer who buys it), disgustingly overpriced merchandise, and a repair department that generally cannot set up an instrument as well as I could at the age of 15, Long and McQuade will never receive my money again.
I will go there to try things out, but I'll find a dealer as local as possible to spend bring in what I want. I will find local repair guys, and I'll set up any of my friends' instruments for free.
Absolutely awful. Orders take forever, repairs take forever and the workers at the stores give you the feeling that they don't want your business and just want you out of the store. When you do get things "repaired" there they do a $#*! job. I had a guitar with a b string that kept slipping over to the e when I'd strum it, even gently. The idiots at Long and McQuade stupidly fixed the wrong string, that wasn't even broken. Idiots. Their prices are way too high, and customer service is a joke. Go somewhere else. You won't pay any more, and will probably pay less for the same products. In addition to this you will not be made to feel that you are bothering someone when you are a serious buyer. I will never buy another guitar from them again, and I buy at least one guitar a month.
When I got to the store and asked to look at the instrument that the website said was in stock (rental). He simply refused to look for it because he said there are about 100 at the back to look through. Its not my problem that they are not organized and not monopolizing there employees to make sure everything is organized. I said to him I phoned during my lunch break and the lady I spoke to said to come down and have a look at the instrument before purchasing, which I did. He was all mad because I decided to wait until he found it. NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER AT ALL.
In 2008 I purchased an Almansa Professional Jacaranda Classical guitar for $4,900. The salesman was Jeremy Shaw. Long & McQuade endorsed the Almansa guitar. I asked Mr Shaw if the ad claiming the guitar was Brazilian rosewood, was true. He stated that he didn't know much about classical guitars. When the guitar arrived, it wasn't the highly valued Brazilian rosewood, but Madagascar rosewood. The tag on the guitar keys read BZN (rosewood)
Shaw (who earlier said he knew little about it), was now "95% sure the guitar wasn't Brazilian rosewood". I have just GIVEN THIS GUITAR AWAY after trying to sell it.

They prefer to endlessly chat with their buddies rather than help customers. Bad service especially the drum department. These guy are clueless.
I am from London, Ontario and have been dealing with Long and Mcquades for quite some time. I will admit I was very hesitant in dealing with a company this large at the beginning.
I thought because it being so large that it just wouldn't give me the one on one customer experience. I was wrong!
Long and Mcquades has gone above and beyond to make me feel like they absolutely care about me in a genuine way. If you have any concerns or issues with a product, they are there 100% to rectify the situation. They don't question you in a manner that makes you feel like the problem is not their fault, but instead ask you what can they do to correct the situation.
If you have any questions about certain products, they will take the time to get you an answer. They genuinely listen to you as an individual and treat you with respect and not because they feel like they have too, but because they want to.
Long and Mcquades is there to back you up.
Always go here for my musical needs. Have purchased several instruments over the years. Staff at my local store (Sydney, NS) is quite knowledgeable and committed to excellent customer service. When I need repairs, they are up front about whether it's worth it or not so I do not waste my money. When I have repairs done, they were done well and priced reasonably. Lilith was able to order my dream Roland drum set and put it on layaway. They go the extra mile.
I went into Long and Mcquade in Sudbury yesterday with my son and all I have to say is we had the best costumer service from a young guy in there named Jordon, he was so helpful with everything, I honestly had the best costumer service ever from Jordon and I was very disappointed when I went to a different store and expected the same kind of treatment for costumer service and never received it, thanks Jordon for all your help, we will be back, Cathy and Tyler D
I'm the Principal Trombone of the NAC Orchestra in Ottawa. I recently had an issue with damage done to a trombone that I needed in order to complete a recording with the orchestra. I got in touch with a Master Repair Technician, John Chambers at the Kanata, ON location. He took my call immediately and, after explaining my situation, he invited me to drop off my instrument as soon as I could that day. Within 3 hours he had not only fixed the major dent on the slide but completely overhauled my trombone. I was very impressed with how he dealt with my problem in such a timely and professional manner. He was an excellent listener, very personable and extremely skilled. I want to commend the entire staff of the Kanata location. My shopping experience has always been a positive one. The staff are courteous, patient and helpful! I had also rented, then bought an electric guitar and amp for my son. That too was a very pleasant experience. I feel very fortunate to have such a service in my city. Thank you, John Chambers for saving the day for me! Thank you, Long and McQuade.
I am a professional musician and have been dealing with Long and McQuade for over 40 years to get my tools of the trade. I have always found them to be very conscientious and easy to deal with. Thanks Long and McQuade!
I had an issue with a guitar I purchased, although it was not the fault of Long and McQuade they stepped up and took care of me. Now I am super happy with my axe, thanks L&M for caring!
Found my dream p90 les Paul out of province. These guys, held it n put it aside till I arrived. Awesome. Great prices great service. They rock
When you call the 800 number an actual person answers. I was surprised when someone from the local store delivered my guitar a few hours later, with a smile.
I've been ordering from Long & McQuade for years, have always have great service and the support staff have been very helpful. Would recommend to anyone looking for musical equipment.
I decided to learn guitar and a friend referred me to this company. The staff was great! I will definitely use them again.
Recently bought a epiphone Les Paul and I couldn't happier! Special thanks to Rob at L&M in toronto!
Answer: Their customer service is top notch. I tried other stores and not as good
