Just because a dishwasher CAN run an entire cycle on only 4 gallons of water doesn't mean it SHOULD because it doesn't clean the dishes. Maybe this is why the company advertises "it uses such little water, do your dishes each night." No matter how few or how many dishes are loaded, you'll spend MORE TIME, MONEY, WATER AND ELECTRICITY re-doing the dishes in subsequent loads, cycles and by hand.
To be quite honest, I have never done so many dishes BY HAND since I've bought this "dishwasher."
We also got a matching cooktop and oven.
I'll start with the cooktop. There's only 2 of us here, we have no kids in the house at this point and within the first 2 weeks the cooktop was scratched so badly it looked like a rescue model and we only used it twice during that time period. The down draft doesn't work very well and the heavy cast iron plates on top do not come clean, and they stain permanently.
I've also had pots and pans by KitchenAid and it's never long before the red paint chips away, the "permanent" non-stick coating begins to lift, the heat guard rubber handles are pointless because they get nearly as hot as the pan itself - which dents like crazy in that nightmare dishwasher from hell. It's not cool when your food tastes like a RUSTY NAIL.
The oven microwave built in combo stank like burning PVC and chemicals for over 3 months after having it installed. This stink permeated our food which we could not eat half the time. It's been close to 6 months and the stink when we turn it on has lightened, but we experience it every so often to this day.
I should have learned when the pots and pans dented, scraped, didn't work and caused our food to taste metallic. But I stupidly bought these other appliances because of the price, and because we were in a time crunch to get something asap which would fit a very rare space measurement allowance. I regret just not waiting until another brand came out with something acceptable. KitchenAid is SO BAD I found myself actually calling the installer who'd hauled our old oven and dishwasher away, begging him to come back and reinstall them. Unfortunately, too much time had passed and he'd already disposed of them. I was and am stuck with these disappointing, counterproductive contraptions.
As a woman who works and has a bad back, it's hard to stand at the sink and scrub dishes but this is exactly what I have to do every single day and my back feels like it's on fire. Yet I have a snazzy looking dishwasher a few inches to my right.
If you have a choice, if it's at all possible, SAVE YOURSELF THE MISERY, DISAPPOINTMENT, MONEY, TIME AND STRESS and just buy another brand. ANY other brand had to be better than this.
