Being from NYC I was really missing good Jewish deli food and decided to give this a try. I ordered one pound of pastrami, one pound of corned beef, one jar of half-sour pickles, two knishes and a loaf of rye bread. I was seriously disappointed with everything but the rye bread which was soft and fresh.
The pickles weren't half-sour, they were cucumbers that had been 'pickled' for about one day. They had no flavor whatsoever. The knishes also had zero flavor, but the thing I was really unhappy about were the meats. At $40/pound I expected much more.
Although the pastrami was passable I found the corned beef inedible and I threw it out. It was so dry and tough I could barely chew it. Both were cut much too thick- deli meats should be paper thin and juicy. Only because pastrami is a fatty meat was I able to make a halfway decent sandwich with it. I followed their instructions to submerge the shrink wrapped meat package in hot water so it's not like I dried it out in a microwave and I can only surmise that's the way it was put in the package.
So my dreams of a great NY deli dinner did not materialize and in the end I paid over $100 for two barely passable pastrami sandwiches and a loaf of rye bread. The rest was a loss and I would not recommend ordering food from them.
