For 55 years, Jean-Coutu pharmacies have had my loyal clientele. In Quebec and Ontario. One thing has been bothering me a LOT about them for the past 4 or 5 years. At age 65, the client will pay $4.11 for all medications. He will be given 3 months of medication, or 90 pills for $4.11. But very often, the pharmacy runs out of stock (at least that's what the customer is told), so he receives half of his prescription, 45 pills, "to help him out" he is told. Still, the price of those 45 pills remains at $4.11, as if he were getting 90. "We'll call you when we have 45 more. " If, like me, the client lives 30 km away, it doesn't matter. The pharmacy will not pay for its gas. If he is disabled and have hard time to drive?... Bah! He will still have to pay $4.11. Why does the customer have to pay $4.11 twice for a fault on the part of the pharmacy that did not renew its supply on time? My neighbor goes so far as to say that this is a good way to double the price of these drugs. I wouldn't go that far, but a few years ago, the pharmacist suggested a similar medication to replace the one that was missing. So where's the benefit of the old people in this?
